Chapter 5 - False Faces and New Beginnings chapter 5

Inside Country A's airport, Elunara was still fast asleep in Luceniel's arms, curled up like a peaceful child. Luceniel stood quietly, holding her in a gentle princess carry.

Two minutes later, a man hurried toward them, slightly out of breath. He stopped in front of Luceniel, bowed slightly, and spoke with forced politeness.

"Hello, sir. I'm Jack, your assigned assistant. I'm here to escort you and Mrs. Vale."

Luceniel narrowed his eyes, giving the man a cold glare. His voice dropped into a low, heavy tone.

"Oh really? Then I'm sure you know the code you're supposed to say to me... right?"

Jack stammered nervously. "O-Of course, sir."

The moment those words left his mouth, Luceniel's leg shot forward and slammed into Jack's stomach. Jack doubled over, collapsing to the ground in agony. The look on his face was one of pure terror—like he'd stared death in the eyes for the first time.

Luceniel stepped closer, his voice ice-cold.

"Get lost… before I kill you."

Jack couldn't even look up. The pain was unbearable, and just being near Luceniel felt suffocating. Shaking with fear, he crawled away and vanished into the airport crowd.

Moments later, Elunara slowly opened her eyes and blinked sleepily. She found herself still in Luceniel's arms, carried like a princess. A soft blush appeared on her cheeks.

"You didn't wake me up?" she asked, gently scolding him.

Luceniel chuckled. "I didn't want any more bite marks before reaching home."

Elunara gave him a playful smack on the arm while trying to hide her smile. Luceniel laughed softly, and even the guards with them struggled to hold back their amusement.

Elunara glanced around and asked, "So, where's the guy Dad arranged to pick us up?"

Luceniel sighed. "I don't think he's coming. Do you know the address for our new home?"

Elunara nodded confidently.

Just then, a glowing figure flickered into view—Lily, their AI daughter. She appeared briefly, unable to maintain her full form, and perched on Elunara's shoulder like a spark of light.

"Good morning, Mom!" she chirped sweetly with a warm smile.

Elunara's face lit up with joy. "Lily! You're finally here."

Luceniel turned to her. "Lily, get the address of our new home and book transport for all of us."

Before she could respond, one of the guards stepped forward.

"Master Luceniel, you don't have to worry. I've already informed our company. Someone's on the way to pick everyone up. In the meantime, please wait in the private lounge."

It was now 3:45 AM.

Luceniel looked at Lily and asked, "Lily… about that man who tried to pick us up earlier. Why didn't you warn me?"

Lily replied in a guilty tone. "I'm sorry, Dad. When he approached you, my system shut down temporarily for an update."

Elunara gently comforted her. "Sweetheart, it's okay. Don't be sad. Once we reach home, your dad's going to complete your update—you should be happy!"

Luceniel nodded and smiled. "Yeah, Lily. Don't blame yourself. If you had warned me too early, we might've missed something important. Everything worked out."

Elunara raised an eyebrow. "Wait—what happened while I was asleep?"

Luceniel explained everything to her, from the fake escort to the warning signs.

Elunara smirked. "Looks like my light is becoming famous in every country now."

Luceniel sighed playfully. "If only your dad hadn't drunk so much at that party."

Elunara and Lily chuckled together.

After 10 minutes, Lily's form flickered again, and she disappeared. Elunara's smile faded slightly.

Luceniel quickly hugged her. "Don't worry, love. Once we get home, the first thing I'll do is fully upgrade Lily. She'll never vanish like that again."

Elunara smiled, then leaned in and kissed his cheek.

At that moment, several cars arrived at the airport gate. A suited man approached and bowed.

"Sir, ma'am, all the cars are ready. We should leave before sunrise."

Elunara stood, but Luceniel remained still.

"What's wrong, honey?" she asked.

Luceniel's expression turned serious.

"Elunara… the moment we landed in Country A, two people already knew too much about us. One even knew your father arranged someone to meet us. And now Lily's offline during a system update... It's too convenient."

One of their men nodded. "Master Luceniel is incredibly sharp. He sensed something suspicious within just one hour. But what should we do now, sir? What if we're being targeted?"

Luceniel gave a calm smirk. "Don't worry. Even if a demon tries to follow us, they won't succeed."

He took out his phone and input a sequence of codes.

Then he turned to the team. "Everyone—load our belongings into the cars within five minutes. Then leave in different directions. We'll all regroup at the new house at 7:00 AM. You have the address. Be safe."

One of them protested, "But sir! We can't leave you and Mrs. Vale behind. If something happens, how will we face Sir Kaelron?"

Elunara laughed softly. "You're all worried about us? Don't be. We'll get there before any of you."

The guards obeyed and loaded the luggage. After five minutes, every electronic device in and around the airport suddenly froze—except for the cars. Engines roared, and they sped off in separate directions. Inside the airport, confusion spread among the remaining staff.

Luceniel stood up and extended his hand toward Elunara.

"Honey," he said with a smile, "shall we go too?"

Elunara nodded, placing her hand in his.

In the blink of an eye, both of them vanished into thin air.

Five minutes later, all airport devices returned to normal.

The fake escort, now watching helplessly from a corner, frantically called his boss.

"What do you mean you lost him?!" the boss yelled. "Do you know how important Luceniel is to our company?! I spent one million dollars just to learn he was arriving—and you still blew it?!"

The assistant stammered, "Boss, I—I don't know what happened! All the devices stopped working for a minute, and when I looked at Luceniel, my eyes felt like they were burning!"

The boss growled. "If he doesn't show up at our company, kill him. I've arranged everything. He'll never make it to his new home."

After cutting the call, the assistant dialed another number and spoke in a cold tone.

"Only kill Luceniel."

On the other end, a sniper holding a CheyTac M200 Intervention—one of the world's most accurate sniper rifles—nodded silently and relayed the message to his team.

Within 30 minutes, the assassins reached Luceniel's home. They found the cars… but none of them held Luceniel or Elunara.

The hitman called back. "None of the cars have the target. Should we just blow them all up?"

The assistant panicked. "No! If Luceniel's not there, forget it. We can't risk hurting anyone else. If Sir Kaelron finds out we tried to harm his people—especially his little sister—he'll hunt every one of us down."

The hitman gave the retreat command, and they all pulled back.

High above, Luceniel soared through the sky with Elunara in his arms, wearing a different outfit than before. A soft, sky-blue aura shimmered around him.

They landed gracefully in front of a massive home, far away from the city. Elunara looked around in awe.

"It's beautiful…" she whispered, hugging Luceniel. "Now we can finally start our new life, honey."

Luceniel smiled gently. "Of course."

The house was enormous, with a huge yard, a swimming pool, and surrounded by peace and quiet.

Elunara took Luceniel's hand and led him to the front door. She pulled out the key, beaming with happiness.

"Ready?" she asked.

Luceniel smiled back. "Let's go."

Together, they opened the door—and stepped into their new beginning.
