Chapter 12 - 12. The light screen

Avenge me! Avenge me!

hu...hu...hu...hu; He took in deep breaths as cold sweat covered him; he had just woken up from his mother's shriek again. He sat down in a sitting position without even looking at what he sat down on, as he tried to adjust himself before raising his head only to be stunned by what he saw; he was atop a "mountain." No, a snow mountain. He couldn't help but swallow hard as he screamed to himself in thought, "How did I get here?" After remembering what happened to him. The first thought he had was, "I'm definitely dreaming," right? I'm definitely dreaming. After coming to a conclusion, he stood up on his feet as he took a walk on the mountain. Deeply shocked by how tall it was, he felt fear for the first time in this dream of his; this was a death sentence. He took in another breath of air, but the air felt quite chilly this time; he finally felt the cold on the mountain peak. "If I stay here for too long, I will die for sure," he said to himself. "I should get out of here." But how?

As though in response to his question, a light screen appeared before him. Maybe that was what he felt, but it appeared before him. Which caused him to retreat a few steps in shock, but he calmed down soon after.

"What is this?" he thought to himself. "A device?" Why do I have this weird feeling as though what is happening here is real? When he got to this point, he shook it off; that's basically impossible.

He looked at the screen for a long time, but nothing happened; it was just blank, making him lose interest as he turned to walk away, but to his surprise, he still saw the screen in front of him as though it was moving with him. He tried touching the screen, but his hands just went through it. In annoyance he started running away, hoping to get away from it, but all his efforts were futile, which made him stop as he looked at the blank screen with a serious expression.

Actually, he had high expectations when he first saw the screen because he had watched anime where screens like this appear in front of a person and they start leveling up unnecessary, but he had never watched one that was blank after appearing. Which made him sigh to himself for expecting too much. As he in thought, the light screen suddenly moved, which caught his attention and made his eyes narrow in full focus. Even though the movement was small, it didn't pass his notice. As though in reply to his actions, the screen suddenly trembled, giving off a strange light before moving at a speed the human eye couldn't follow as it entered his brow, causing him to shiver as he felt dizzy before falling on the ground; he fainted.

A "hum" sound echoed after.
