Chapter 71 - The man she forgot

EXT. DARGAH COURTYARD – NIGHT

Rose petals swirl in the soft breeze.

Devotees whisper prayers.

Candles flicker under the shrine lights.

Saif's phone buzzes.

He glances at Mahi, sitting peacefully on the marble ledge near the fountain.

SAIF (softly):

"Just a call. I'll be back."

MAHI:

"I'll wait."

He walks off slowly, his back straight, his eyes scanning the crowd.

EXT. DARGAH PILLARS – CONTINUOUS

Ahaan enters.

His black outfit blends with the shadows.

His expression is hard…

His steps are silent.

His mission brief is crumpled in his jacket pocket:

"Target suspected in Dargah vicinity – Possible sighting of 'Saif Khan.'"

But when his eyes scan the crowd...

He freezes.

Mahi.

Sitting quietly. Her face turned upward toward the lights. Hands in her lap. A calm smile on her lips.

He stops.

His breath catches in his chest.

AHAAN (murmurs):

"Mahi..."

She hears the voice.

Turns.

Looks straight at him.

And doesn't recognize him.

Just… blinks. Kindly. Curiously. A stranger's gaze.

MAHI (softly):

"Yes?"

Ahaan takes a step forward, eyes wide, broken.

AHAAN:

"It's me.

It's... Ahaan."

MAHI (confused):

"I'm sorry…

do we know each other?"

AHAAN:

"You… you don't remember?"

Before she can say anything—

A shadow looms behind her.

Saif returns.

But this time, his smile isn't polite.

It's deliberate. Calculated. Possessive.

SAIF (gently, to Mahi):

"There you are."

She turns to him instinctively — as if he's her compass.

MAHI:

"I was just talking to someone."

SAIF (to Ahaan, with cold politeness):

"I see you've met my fiancée."

AHAAN (voice barely stable):

"Fiancée?"

Saif steps forward, standing between them slightly.

SAIF (quiet, sharp):

"Yes. We're getting married next month.

She doesn't remember her past…

and I don't intend to remind her."

Ahaan stares at him.

Not just as a rival now…

But as his own brother.

And Saif knows it.

SAIF (smiling, low):

"It's strange, isn't it?

How some people get second chances…

and others get left behind."

Ahaan's fists clench.

AHAAN:

"You know who I am."

SAIF (calm):

"Oh, I know exactly who you are, brother."

Mahi looks between them, confused.

MAHI:

"You two know each other?"

SAIF (gently to her):

"Just an old acquaintance, love. Nothing important."

He places a protective hand on her back.

MAHI (softly):

"Let's go then?"

She doesn't even glance at Ahaan again.

As they walk away, Ahaan stands frozen.

The woman he fought for.

The woman he couldn't protect.

The woman he still loves…

Doesn't remember him.

But loves the one person who's been waiting to destroy him.

And the worst part?

That man might deserve her more now.
