Chapter 70 - A promise

EXT. HILLTOP MEADOW – GOLDEN HOUR

The sun is setting — casting a warm glow across the green valley.

Mahi stands in a simple floral kurti, plucking wildflowers near a small stream.

She turns, surprised, as she sees Saif walking toward her, wearing a cream kurta with sleeves rolled to his elbows.

He hides something behind his back.

MAHI (smiling):

"You look suspicious."

SAIF (grinning):

"Maybe I am."

He stops in front of her — heart racing, palms damp — but his gaze steady.

She tilts her head.

MAHI:

"What's behind your back?"

He slowly drops to one knee.

Her breath catches.

He pulls out a small silver ring — simple, elegant, carved with a star on one side.

SAIF (softly):

"Mahi...

You're the first peace I've ever known.

The first person who stayed.

I don't have a big family, or a perfect past.

But I have this moment.

And I want to spend the rest of my life…

giving you all the love I never knew I had."

Her eyes fill instantly.

MAHI (tearfully smiling):

"You idiot…

Of course it's a yes."

He slips the ring on her finger.

They don't kiss — not yet.

They just hug.

A long, soul-wrapping hug where his arms tremble and hers don't let go.

EXT. DARGAH – NIGHTFALL

The moon glows above the old, white-stoned Dargah Sharif nestled on the mountain.

Soft qawwali plays in the background. Chadar and rose petals carpet the marble floor. Candles flicker gently in the wind.

Mahi and Saif walk in hand in hand, barefoot, respectful, serene.

They tie a red thread on the sacred wall.

MAHI (eyes closed, whispering):

"I don't want anything.

Just… keep him safe.

Let him be happy."

SAIF (eyes closed):

"Let her never cry again."

They don't speak after that.

They just sit under the starry sky, heads resting on each other, surrounded by silence, blessings, and the scent of roses.

For the first time in years…

Saif feels chosen.

And Mahi feels whole.
