Chapter 52 - The weight of one bullet

INT. LUXURY APARTMENT – NIGHT - GOA

The rain hasn't stopped.

It beats against the glass windows like it's trying to get in…

Or like it's trying to punish him.

Ahaan sits alone. Shirt half-buttoned. Hands covered in dried blood.

His gun lies on the floor across the room.

His phone is on the table. Silent.

He hasn't spoken since he came home.

Not to Mishri.

Not to anyone.

Just silence.

And now, the silence is eating him alive.

He stands, walks to the mirror.

Sees his reflection.

His face.

His hands.

Her blood still on his clothes.

He touches the spot on his shirt — where Mahi touched him when she fell.

That soft brush of her hand…

Her eyes wide in betrayal…

Her lips parting, trying to say his name…

AHAAN (barely a whisper):

"Mahi…"

He stumbles back.

His hand crashes into the table — knocks a vase down.

Shatter.

FLASHBACK:

> Her smile.

Her laugh in the rain.

Her fingers holding his face, whispering,

"You're not a weapon to me… you're home."

Then — the shot.

Her falling.

The way her gaze held his until her body gave up.

INT. BATHROOM – MOMENTS LATER

Ahaan opens the tap.

Scrubs his hands.

But the blood won't go away.

He keeps scrubbing. Harder. Harder.

AHAAN (growls):

"Come off!"

He punches the sink. Blood blooms from his knuckles.

AHAAN (breaking):

"WHAT DID I DO?!"

He slides to the bathroom floor, soaking wet, trembling.

---

INT. BEDROOM – LATER

He lies on the floor beside the bed. Not on it.

Not allowed to be comfortable.

His eyes stare at the ceiling.

Open.

Dead.

Mishri walks in quietly. Holding a cup of tea.

She stands in the doorway.

But Ahaan doesn't even look at her.

AHAAN (empty voice):

"I shot her."

MISHRI (softly):

"You saved me."

AHAAN (turns slowly):

"Did I?"

He gets up.

Walks toward her. Slowly. Eyes locked.

AHAAN (quiet, deadly):

"Tell me the truth, Mishri.

You knew she was coming, didn't you?"

Mishri freezes.

He steps closer. Inches from her face.

AHAAN:

"You wanted her to see you kiss me.

You let her believe everything was her fault."

Mishri opens her mouth—

AHAAN (cold):

"Don't lie to me again."

He walks away.

Mishri is left frozen.

For the first time —

afraid she's going to lose.

INT. AHAAN'S STUDY – NIGHT

Ahaan opens his drawer.

Takes out a picture of Mahi — an old one. Her in a white coat. Smiling. Alive.

He crumples to the ground.

AHAAN (whispers):

"You trusted me…

And I pulled the trigger."

His tears fall.

Alone.

No one to save him now.

Not even himself.
