IN FRANCISTOWN
(AT BLOCK 1 CLINIC)
Sid's POV
I'm so tired physically, and it doesn't help that I'm even tired emotionally. I'm trying, I'm trying to ignore and forget Royalty, but I can't, which is why my mind is overworking.
My mind is overworking because it's fighting my heart. My heart wants what it wants, and that's royalty. I'm sitted in my office waiting to go and operate a patient in 30 minutes.
My office phone rings, and I pick it up and answer.
Me: "Doctor Sid speaking hello."
Caller: "Doctor, it's Dr. Nkosi at block 4 clinic. I have a your patient here who has been brought in, and it seriously needs you. "
Me: "ooh Dr Nkosi, I have surgery in less than 30 minutes, so I don't think I can come there or even to say bring the patient here when I'm busy. Just help the patient. I know you can. "
Dr Nkosi: "I can help the patient, but this is seriously different, I've never come across something like this preg....."
Me: "What is the name of the patient again?"
Dr Nkosi: " she is like 7 months pregnant with triplets, but something is happening. Her name is Ro..."
"Dr. you have to come, the patient in room number 8 is ....."
Me: "Dr Nkosi, I can't hear you, I have a problem here, so I'll call you back."
Dr Sid: "But I...".
I put the phone down as I take my stuff and go to where I've been summoned. I got there, and it seems like it's not more serious than the way the nurse said it.
Me: (chuckling) "Nurse Rose, just bring the oxygen mask. There is nothing wrong here. We have to wait for a few more minutes for the dosage to spread in his body."
Nurse Rose: "Are you sure, doctor? Because his eyes. "
Me: "Yeah, I'm sure, but get everything that is on this list in the operation room."
Nurse Rose: "ok doctor".
*AN HOUR LATER*
Me: "This was so easy than I thought it would be. The last time I did an operation like this one, it was a total hell in here. Thank you, Dr., for the assistance. "
I said thanking the doctor I had called to help me. I have just finished the operation, and I'm in my office now.
Dr: "it was my pleasure to be here. Let me rush. I have something to do in town before I resume my night shift. "
Me: "Go well."
He exited my office, and I sighed as a sign of tiredness. My office phone rang and that's when I remembered something.
Me: " I had a call from block 4 clinic earlier on. Let me just pick up this call, and then I'll check out if it went well with Dr Nkosi and my patient. "
I pick up the call and put in my ear.
Me: "Dr. Sid speaking."
"Sir, there is a lady who wants to see you."
Me: "aaah, send her through."
I dropped the call and opened the file I found on my desk, waiting for the person to come. A minute or two later, my door flung open.
Me: "What in the hell? What are you doing here? You want your brother to kill me, right?"
*AT BLOCK 4 CLINIC*
*Huney's POV*
Me: "we don't have time Dr, if you need to do something to save her please do so because look, if she faints then you won't be able to do much she is tired".
I said, looking at the weak royalty. She was screaming and crying before but ever since that son of a bitch refuse to come and help her she has been crying silently with her eyes closed. She has been enduring the pain silently crying.
Dr: "Nurse Huney, I did a scan and one of the baby is suffocating. By the look of the situation on the scan the baby is gonna die so all I can try to do now is operate her and remove the baby and leave two which seems to be perfectly fine."
Me: "So that's the only option, there is no other way?"
Dr: "I'm sorry but that's all I can do and if I don't it's gonna worsen the situation and the other two babies will be affected in the process or even kill her".
Royalty: "I....I....think...sis.....just try again . Call him, if ypu tell him it's me he will come, just dont operate me, don't kill my baby please. Talk to the doctor, he will listen to you".
She said begging me but one thing I know is that they're is no a mother who can allow her baby to be killed or even this operation thing to be done. Which means I'm left with option and that's doing the right thing for my sister here and not my brother's wife.
Me: "Dr go ahead with the operation I'll sign the documents that needs to be signed".
Dr: "I'll get help and everything ready".
Royalty: "You, you are not going to do this to me. No, not you too, Huney. You are not killing my baby. "
Me:"it's either I do something to save you or you die, sis, and I can't have you die on my watch. Please, you will have to forgive me about this because I'm not going to change my decision.
Royalty: "ypu are a witch, you want to eat my baby, go on and eat him. Both of you are witches, you your fucken brother and your brother's wicked friend. All of you, get out of my sight. I don't wanna see you again!"
She is shouting like a mad person and I know the pain is what is making her to say all this so I don't even mind what she is saying.
Me: "it's a pit you can't do anything."
Royalty: "You bitch, you....".
"Mrs Whale I understand you are hurt but this is a hospital, please make it down a little bit".
The doctor said approaching Royalty and I kept quiet because I saw what he wanna do. He got to her and injected her when she least expected.
Royalty: "You can't even commit the sin while I'm looking at you. That's why you are injection....me...so.....that.....".
Me: "Which injection is this one?"
I asked after I saw that Royalty can't talk now, but, by the look of her eyes, I can see she can hear and see us clearly.
Dr: "It's a blend of two injections, suitable for pregnant women, and I'm not gonna tell you my secret. Wheel her to the operation room."
Me: "If she dies, make sure you die too."
I couldn't go with them for the operation. I was cared anx hurt at the same time. Why does all of this have to happen? I mean, I was happy, happy that I'm going to be an aunt and not to just one head buy three and now one is gone. I just pray and hope that the other two are safe.
I know I shouldn't be thinking like this but the truth is that this is all Sid's fault. This is all his fault, he could have come, he could have left what he was doing and save my brother's children and wife but no , he refused.
"Hey you, are you being paid to just sit there and doing nothing?"
I turned after lifting my head to see who it is and it's her, the senior nurse. I just looked at her and said nothing because I'm seriously emotionally drained.
Snr nurse: "You cane here just yesterday, and already you are showing us your true colours."
Nurse: "For your information, nurse Huney's sister is in the operation room. Sometimes, you have to ask before you shout at people. You don't even know how she operates, but here you are already shouting and accusing her. How smart of you."
Snr nurse: "You, you low ...how dare you say that to me. Are you challenging me!"
And the nurse is gone already she is just speaking alone. If I was not in a bad situation, I was going to laugh my lungs out, but right now, I can even try to fake it. She just left furious, but I didn't care or think about it. All I'm thinking is how my sister is right now.
I sat here for like an hour, and they are not done yet. I'm so not patient at all. As I stood up, ready to go and get some water to drink, that's when the Dr came out.
Me: "Dr, how is she? Please tell me she is ok both with the two babies?"
Dr: "Relax, I tried my best, and the three of them are safe. I injected her so that she could rest. I had to connect the tube for food and also some wires to help her regain strength quickly so she couldn't get out of the ICU soon."
Me: "I'll go and see her. Thank you so much. "
I went straight to the ICU just after the doctor gave me the number. I got there, and there she is, sleeping helplessly with so many machines on her. This was not supposed to happen.
Me: "I'll be back sis just rest and don't think too much for the sake of the babies, please. I love you."
I know that there is a possibility of her hearing me. I kissed her forehead and left her room. I went to the Dr's office and knocked then gotten I'm after he told me to.
Dr: "I did something that is not allowed, Nurse Huney, and if the boardroom of hearth and medication finds out, my medical licence will be cancelled for good. Please do me a favour. Instead of sending the ambulance to get your sister's reports and all , please just go and get them for me right now. "
Me: "done."
I stood up, went and got my purse and phone, and got into my car in the garage. I drove straight to block 1 clinic. I got there and asked to see Doctor Sid, and since I was wearing my nurse uniform, she didn't question me at all.
I tried calling Hun but I never got hold of him, not even once. I didn't give up, though, until I arrived at my destination, but still no luck.
She called and told me to get to his office after she directed me. I got there and entered without knocking. I mean, he said I should come so he knows I'm coming, so knocking will just be drama.
Sid: "What in the hell...what are you doing here? You want your brother to kill me?"
I just looked at him without saying anything.
Sid: "In fact, you didn't even knock . Is this some kind of a bar or club to you?"
Me: "Can I have all Royalty's reports and the card, please?"
Sid: "Oooh ok, but how is she? Is she OK, are the babies OK?"
Me: "Why do you care? Aren't you the same person who refused to come when the doctor was calling you for your patient's emergency just a few hours ago?"
He said nothing, but you could see the shock, hurt, and regret in his eyes.
Me: "I thought so too, give me the reports I have to go."
Sid: "Cuddle, I know..."
Me: "Don't! Don't call me that. That ship sinked a long time ago when you cut ties with me. You are not my brother anymore. "
Sid: "I know I shouldn't have cut ties with you, but it had to be done, Huney. I was wrong, and I had no option but to distance myself since I couldn't, and I still couldn't do anything to make what I did right. Right now, I'm begging you to just tell me how Royalty is doing, please."
Me: (with teary eyes) "She lost the other baby Sid, just after the call with you and you refuse to come , I had to make a decision and i told the doctor to go ahead and operate her to remove the baby that was dead. I had no optionand i was alone. All i could think of was to save her and the other babies. "
Sid: "What!"
Me: "When we called you the baby was not dead yet, but the doctor said that since you said you can't come he can only do one thing and that's to operate her and remove the baby because he was clueless on how you were keeping her stable. She didn't have her card and the reports with her. "
Sid: "Oh God, what have I done?"
Me: "This is all on you. This is your fault, brother. If you had come when we called, all of this wouldn't have happened. Royalty would have been ok, and both the babies would have been alive right now, but no. You are still holding onto anger and...and..."
Sid: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry Cuddles".
He said, coming to me and embracing me in his arms. I cried until I stopped and left with hiccups only. He gave me water and started searching in his drawers........
