Chapter 4 - Chapter 003: A Perfect Ending

In just two rounds, Wu Yufei had already given everyone a glimpse of his true abilities.

However, for Wu Yufei, his show had only just begun!

It was still the Red Team's turn.

This time, Araki finally dared not continue his arrogance and instead advanced the ball with great caution.

  "Hmph!"

Upon seeing Wu Yufei charging toward him, Araki immediately passed the ball away, clearly shaken by Wu Yufei's relentless defense earlier.

The basketball was caught by Takatsu Hiro, who then drove past Kurosaki, step by step, into the paint.

  "Give it to me!"

At this point, Araki had successfully shaken off Wu Yufei's defense and entered the paint. Takatsu, seeing this, didn't hold onto the ball but passed it back to Araki.

Araki dribbled the ball and launched a fierce attack toward the paint.

Aoyama Masaki didn't dare to take it lightly and quickly closed in, not giving Araki a chance to accelerate.

However, upon seeing his teammate Miyamoto left open, Araki decisively passed the ball to Miyamoto, who scored on a layup after catching it.

  "Hmph!"

Having successfully assisted, Araki Ichiro turned around to defend while raising his eyebrows at Wu Yufei in a show of arrogance.

  "..."

What could Wu Yufei say in response? He could only smile and shrug his shoulders.

It was the Blue Team's turn. Wu Yufei dribbled the ball forward and, upon reaching the frontcourt, directly charged at Araki in front of him.

Relying on his speed, Wu Yufei forced his way into the paint, then came to a sudden stop and assumed a jump shot stance.

  "No way!!"

Seeing this, Araki immediately jumped high to block Wu Yufei's shot.

However, in the next second, Wu Yufei pulled the ball back and made a beautiful behind-the-back pass to Murakami Ken'go, who was cutting in from the side.

  "Ugh..."

Murasa Ken'go, who had never received such a smooth pass before, couldn't help but admire Wu Yufei even more.

He drove into the paint and scored a layup off the backboard.

  "Damn it!"

Having been outsmarted by Wu Yufei again, Araki was furious.

In the next play, Araki decided to return the favor, charging straight at Wu Yufei after reaching the frontcourt.

However, Araki forgot that Wu Yufei had the advantage in height, weight, and speed, while Araki had none of those advantages against Wu Yufei.

  Slap!!

Wu Yufei timed it perfectly, extending his long arm like a dragon to knock the ball out of Araki's hands.

  "What?!"

  "Thanks~"

Wu Yufei ignored Araki's shocked expression, dodged around him, quickly grabbed the basketball, and charged toward the Red Team's half of the court.

  "Damn it!!"

Aoki quickly turned around and gave chase, determined not to let Wu Yufei get away with it.

The two left their teammates far behind, charging into the Red Team's penalty area in less than four seconds.

  Swish!

Taking a step forward from the free-throw line, Wu Yufei jumped directly into the air.

"Come on!!"

Araki Ichiro, closely following Wu Yufei, also leaped high into the air, preparing to block Wu Yufei's shot with a decisive block.

However, just as Araki was confidently expecting to block the shot, the basketball vanished from his sight.

  "Huff..."

Wu Yufei sighed lightly, brought the basketball back to his chest, made a small pull-up motion, switched it to his left hand, and gently flicked it toward the basket above.

  Swish!

The basketball spun and obediently went through the net.

"How... is that possible..."

Does this guy have eyes in the back of his head?

At this moment, Araki Kazuyuki finally began to realize that perhaps he and the guy in front of him were not players of the same level.

At 3 minutes and 16 seconds, Wu Yufei drove down the left side, facing a double team from Araki Ichiro and Takatsu Hiro, but managed to pass the ball through the gap, handing it off to Murakami Ken'go, who drove into the paint and scored with a floater.

At 3 minutes and 45 seconds, Takatsu Hiro's buzzer-beating shot missed, and the rebound was grabbed by Naito Tetsuya, who then led the Blue Team's counterattack.

Wu Yufei took the ball from Naito and immediately instructed him to charge toward the basket.

At this moment, everyone was surprised to discover that Wu Yufei was actually faster than Naito, who had a background in American football!

The two burst into the Red Team's penalty area like lightning. Wu Yufei casually flicked the basketball toward the backboard above him, and Naito Tetsuya, who was behind him, jumped at the right moment.

He caught the ball as it bounced off the backboard, gripped it firmly with both hands, and slammed it into the basket with force.

At 4 minutes and 26 seconds, Wu Yufei slowly advanced to the three-point line and called for power forward Aoyama Masaki to set a screen for him.

Using the screen, Wu Yufei successfully penetrated the paint, faced the defending Miyamoto, took a step back to create space, and then jumped and shot.

  Dang!

Although the move was cool, unfortunately, it didn't hit the mark, but Naito successfully grabbed the rebound and jumped in place to dunk the ball with one hand and score.

At 4:50, Wu Yufei and Murakami Kenji performed a give-and-go play, passing the ball between them three times and beating all the Red Team players along the way.

After charging into the paint, Wu Yufei and Murakami also performed an alley-oop, allowing Murakami to enjoy the thrill of dunking the ball.

At 5:15, Wu Yufei forced his way into the paint again, attracting two defenders to double-team him before passing the ball to Naito Tetsuya, who had run to the basket, and Naito scored again.

At 6:23, Wu Yufei stood off against Araki on the perimeter for a few seconds before directly throwing the ball toward the basket in front of Araki.

Such a reckless shot couldn't possibly go in!

  "Rebound!!"

Araki Ichiro immediately turned his head and shouted at his center, but what he saw was the massive figure of Naito Tetsuya gliding through the air.

  Catch the ball, dunk!

Naito Tetsuya was playing like a man possessed; he had never felt this exhilarated on the court before!

By the tenth minute of the first half, the Blue Team had already opened up a 28-10 lead over the Red Team.

Wu Yufei had already scored 12 points and dished out 7 assists, effectively carrying the entire Blue Team on his own and dominating the opposing Red Team throughout the game.

At 10:15, Wu Yufei dribbled through the legs of Araki Ichiro to break into the paint, then used a shoulder feint to shake off Miyamoto Kazunari, who had come to help defend. Finally, he entered the paint, used a fake move to deceive Kawasaki Akihiro, then ran up and jumped, using a "Divine Finger" move to steadily sink the ball into the basket.

  A perfect one-on-three play.

[So strong... This guy is really too strong...]

[He's no weaker than that guy from Hainan...]

[Is this person our teammate this year?]

For a moment, all the members of the Miura Tai team felt incredibly excited.

They had trained hard for a year, all to avenge last year's humiliating defeat at the hands of Hainan. For this purpose, they even voluntarily gave up nearly half of their vacation time to return to the school gymnasium early for intensive training.

Now, Wu Yufei's sudden appearance had given them even more confidence.

In the following period, Wu Yufei continued his dazzling performance, repeatedly delivering brilliant passes to Murakami Ken'go and Naito Tetsuya, leaving the two of them gorging on easy baskets.

As for the other two teammates, Wu Yufei naturally did not forget them. As long as they could run into good positions, Wu Yufei's passes would be right on time.

The Blue Team players felt that today was the easiest game they had played in years.

On the other hand, the Red Team felt deep despair.

They were helpless against Wu Yufei, whose passes repeatedly pierced their defense.

In the end, they even mobilized three players to double-team Wu Yufei, hoping to stop his performance. But it was still to no avail.

After all, the Blue Team also had Murakami Ken'go, the top scorer from Miura Tai!

If they used three players to defend against Wu Yufei, who would defend against Murakami Ken'go?

The score gap began to widen slowly, and Coach Harada, watching from the sidelines, smiled more and more brightly as the gap widened.

  [What a lucky find!]

Originally, his expectation for this year was that Miura Tai could make it to the final round of the county tournament. As for whether they could defeat Hainan or Xiangyang and secure a spot in the national tournament, it would largely depend on luck.

But now, as he grew increasingly satisfied with Wu Yufei, Coach Harada's confidence began to grow.

Forget about Hainan and Shōyō, and forget about just making it to the national tournament.

With Wu Yufei, Murakami Ken'go, and Naito Tetsuya, Miura Tai might just make it to the quarterfinals... no, maybe even the semifinals!

The national championship semifinals! This is a height that no team or club in Miura Tai's history has ever reached!

If that day comes, wouldn't the benefits for the coach be immense?

  Wealth, fame, status...

Coach Harada seemed to already see an incredibly bright and glorious future beckoning him!

  Beep—!!

In the end, when the match concluded, the Blue Team crushed the Red Team, which was also led by two main players, with a massive score of 55:25.

This was only because Wu Yufei felt he had no interest in continuing the rout in the final five minutes and voluntarily asked the coach to substitute him out, giving the Red Team a chance to close the gap.

Otherwise, as long as Wu Yufei remained on the court, he was confident he could widen the score gap even further!

As for the task, it was also perfectly accomplished.

Wu Yufei immediately allocated the reward attribute point to his [Physical Constitution] attribute.

After all, among his four primary attributes, only Physical Constitution was in the 70s, not reaching 80+.

Basketball is ultimately a physically demanding sport. Without sufficient stamina, one cannot maintain strong endurance on the court and is easily targeted by opponents.

For example, Ryuuka Fujima's Constitution attribute is probably around 70, while Sakuragi's is at least 90. This is evident in the game against Hainan Affiliated High School, where Ryuuka Fujima could only play intensely for half the game and couldn't keep up in the second half, forcing him to conserve his stamina in the next game against Ryounan.

Sakuragi, however, can completely disregard physical exertion, playing with vigor from start to finish in every game. That's the difference.

There's also Mitsui, who wasted two precious years, leaving his physical attributes likely below 70. However, his strength lies in his ability to make a final burst after his stamina drops below the red line, consecutively scoring several three-pointers to help the team stage a comeback from a desperate situation. This is somewhat unreasonable.

According to Wu Yufei's self-planned goals, after three years of high school, his four attributes should all reach at least 90 or even 95.

At least reaching this level is necessary to establish a foothold in the American college basketball scene when he goes to the United States for university.

Otherwise, all those grand goals would be meaningless.

As for other detailed attributes like mid-range shots, these can be improved through future training, so Wu Yufei doesn't plan to waste his precious skill points on them.
