Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

- Burn for Him-

Selene's POV

Smoke rose from the east watchtower.

Selene's heart thundered as she and Kael sprinted across the rocky cliff path, wind slashing against their faces, the moon above watching in silence.

"Rogues never make it this deep," Kael growled. "This wasn't a random breach."

Selene nodded. "It's her. It's Lilith."

Kael didn't respond—but his hand tightened on the hilt of his blade.

---

When they arrived, the watchtower was in ruins.

Wolves—Moonborn warriors—lay scattered, wounded and groaning. Fire licked the edges of trees. Blood soaked the earth.

And in the center of it all stood a black-robed rogue, taller than most, wielding a curved obsidian blade. His eyes were red.

Kael didn't hesitate.

He lunged forward.

"Selene, stay back!"

She ignored him.

They fought together, back to back—claws flashing, teeth bared. The rogue was faster than expected, enhanced by blood magic. Every strike he made seemed aimed not to kill, but to provoke.

"Who sent you?" Kael roared.

The rogue just laughed.

"Your end wears gold eyes, just like hers."

Kael's blade sank into the rogue's ribs—but the rogue grinned and whispered,

"Lilith says hello."

Then he detonated.

Not a literal explosion—but a surge of dark energy shot out like a wave.

Kael was thrown back, smashing against a stone wall with a sickening crack.

"KAEL!" Selene screamed, running to him.

Blood poured from his side.

He was conscious, barely, but his eyes were glassy.

> "Don't… shift. Not now. Stay in control…"

She trembled. "I can't—I can't lose you—"

The rogue was still alive, limping toward them, blade drawn again.

"Let's see what happens when the cursed one breaks."

---

Selene stood slowly.

Everything inside her shattered.

Not just fear.

But rage.

White-hot, pure, ancient.

Her veins lit up like moonlight.

Her eyes turned silver-blue.

Her aura cracked the ground.

And the Moonfire ignited again.

But this time, she didn't scream.

She walked.

Calm. Deadly. Burning.

With a flick of her wrist, the air around the rogue ignited, choking him in light. He screamed, his dark magic sizzling, powerless before her fury.

She raised her hand—then clenched it into a fist.

The rogue burst into dust.

---

Silence fell.

The warriors stared at her.

Selene turned to Kael, dropped to her knees, and cradled him in her arms.

"I'm here," she whispered, hands glowing as she pressed them over his wound.

"I told you not… to lose control," he rasped.

She smiled weakly through tears. "Too late."

"Did you win?"

She looked back at the ash and charred marks.

"I didn't win, Kael. I warned her."

---

Far away…

Lilith stood at the top of a ruined temple, eyes wide.

"She unleashed it again," she said softly.

The Blood Wolf beside her—twice her size, eyes glowing red—let out a low growl.

Lilith's lips curled.

"Good. I want her strong. I want her perfect... before I tear her apart."
