( Vision Under the Silver Veil)
The forest was still.
Too still.
Selene stood alone beneath the silver trees, the moon glowing like a watchful eye above her. The world shimmered—not real, not a memory. She knew this was a dream.
But something—someone—was calling her.
She stepped forward barefoot, the soil soft beneath her toes, yet her skin felt cold. The wind whispered ancient words in a language her mind didn't recognize but her soul remembered.
Then, a voice echoed—not loud, but endless.
"Daughter of the cursed blood… why do you still resist the howl that is yours?"
Selene froze.
From the mist ahead, a woman emerged. Tall, cloaked in flowing silver robes that rippled like moonlight. Her face was hidden by a veil of stars, but her presence was undeniable.
The Moon Goddess.
Selene dropped to her knees instinctively, breath caught in her throat.
"I-I didn't call you," she whispered.
"You didn't have to. The blood did."
The Goddess walked closer, and the sky above darkened. The moon turned blood-red for a brief heartbeat, before returning to silver.
"Two hearts born under one moon. One heart broken… one forgotten. Now, the curse returns to balance what was stolen."
Selene looked up. "You mean my twin."
"Your twin was not the beginning… and you are not the end."
The wind rose around them, carrying whispers of wolves howling, of battles, of a child crying in the dark.
"Why us?" Selene asked. "Why curse us at all?"
The Goddess's tone was unreadable. Powerful. Distant. Sad.
"Because power was taken from me long ago… and hidden in the womb of a dying Luna."
Selene's breath hitched. "You mean… my mother?"
"Your mother bore the mark, but not the burden. You and your twin—split pieces of a soul meant to be whole. Now, one seeks vengeance… the other, purpose."
Selene stood slowly, trembling. "Then tell me how to stop her."
The Goddess stepped closer. For the first time, Selene saw glimpses of a face beneath the veil—eyes like galaxies, lips like fading stars.
"You do not stop what is broken. You offer it a reason to heal—or a reason to fall forever."
Selene swallowed. "What if she chooses vengeance?"
The Goddess extended a hand.
"Then you must choose what kind of Luna you will become: the savior… or the executioner."
Before Selene could answer, the trees around them began to burn—white fire that didn't consume, but revealed:
A vision of her twin, Lilith, standing over a battlefield soaked in blood.
Kael, wounded and dying, reaching for her.
A child, holding the same locket Selene wears, but its gem is blackened—corrupted.
Selene clutched her chest, breath shallow. "Is this the future?"
"No," the Goddess said. "This is the path if you walk blindly."
Then the scene shifted.
Selene stood beside Lilith. Their hands joined. The moon shone between them, and the locket pulsed with pure light.
"This… is the path if you remember who she was before the curse."
Tears stung Selene's eyes. "I don't remember. I was just a baby."
The Moon Goddess leaned close, voice like a breeze through leaves.
"Then find what she lost. In doing so, you will find her—and yourself."
---
The world darkened again. The moon dimmed.
"Wait!" Selene called. "How do I find her?"
The Goddess began to fade.
"Follow the scent of sorrow. And when the time comes… choose with your heart, not your claws."
A soft howl echoed in the distance.
Selene's surroundings blurred, her body growing heavy.
"Awaken, Luna. The world waits for your howl."
---
She gasped awake.
Heart racing. Skin damp with sweat.
Kael was beside her in the cabin, seated by the fire, alert. "Another vision?"
She nodded slowly, sitting up. "I saw her. The Moon Goddess."
Kael's jaw clenched. "What did she say?"
Selene looked at her hands—still glowing faintly silver.
"She didn't give me answers. Just… a choice."
Kael stepped toward her. "Then we'll make sure you're ready—whatever you choose."
But Selene didn't speak.
Because deep in her gut, she knew…
The time to choose was coming fast.
And no matter what she chose, someone would bleed.
