Chapter 28 - Chapter 189: Ann Holmes Ji

---

Angie sat at the table, happily enjoying a familiar breakfast, a bright expression lighting up her face.

Little Sally was nestled in Bella's arms, her two short legs swinging leisurely in the air like a small, spoiled beast being fed.

Bella fed her gently while chatting casually with Angie.

They didn't talk about where Bella had been or what she'd been doing these past days.

Instead, Angie happily chatted away about recent happenings—like the idiot robber who showed up a few days ago and got turned into Swiss cheese by the building's security.

Or the fresh-faced junior at the hospital who's been trying to win her over—but who refuses to drown his sorrows in alcohol, earning zero points in Angie's book.

Either way, she wore a face full of joy.

Bella smiled softly and listened as if nothing were wrong, but in truth, she was quietly sighing on the inside.

Of course, Angie noticed.

Stupid? Angie?

Not a chance. She might act like a chaotic airhead, but she was far from dumb.

She was sharp—sharp enough to get into med school, and not just any med school. Becoming a Doctor of Medicine isn't something you do with average grades.

How many people in the U.S. get accepted into that program every year?

Even though Bella had hidden her secrets well, Angie had spent years by her side. Some things… you just can't fake forever.

And Angie? She knew. She just didn't say anything.

They were both playing along in quiet understanding.

---

Bella thought it over for a moment.

There wasn't much point in hiding anymore—from the two people (and two pets) she cared about most in this world.

Little Sally? Obviously.

And Angie? She was just a normal human. No superpowers. No tricks. She'd live a hundred years if she was lucky.

So now...

Bella decided to let her choose.

After Angie finished eating, Bella hugged Sally, looked her in the eye, and smiled.

"You've done well pretending all this time."

Angie froze mid-chew.

"What do you want to ask me?" she said awkwardly, caught off-guard by the sudden shift.

Bella couldn't help but laugh at her flustered face.

"Ann Holmes—Detective Ji—just like you guessed. How's that feel? You proud of yourself?"

"Holy Shet," Angie muttered, dropping the act entirely.

She leapt up, completely ignoring the two dangling "cockroach legs" (Sally's feet), and leaned in close to Bella, eyes wide.

Just like Bella suspected, Angie had definitely picked up on the weirdness.

At first, she hadn't noticed anything unusual. But later, things didn't quite add up.

The biggest red flag?

Bella herself.

Sure, their school had international academic programs—but one day Angie happened to meet Bella's old med school mentor, the same one she supposedly did exchanges with.

After a friendly chat, the mentor said,

"Bella's a genius—she should've been the future of science. But she's lazy. Never once joined an exchange program."

Boom. Secret blown.

Angie had been stunned. Bella had vanished so many times, always claiming to be in the East or in another country for research.

But not once had her mentor seen her there?

At first, Angie thought some evil seductress had kidnapped her best friend.

But knowing Bella's taste? Yeah, no way.

That wasn't it.

She started replaying past events.

The more she looked back, the more she realized—something had always been off.

And so, Detective Ann Holmes Ji carefully pieced it all together.

Her conclusion? Her best friend had been keeping secrets. Big ones.

And now that Bella had finally come clean? Angie was just... thrilled.

Bella smiled and gave her a gentle bop on the forehead.

Angie didn't resist. She plopped down beside her, eyes gleaming.

"Are you really a superhero? Like, the Goddess of Judgment?"

Bella nodded.

That was all it took.

Angie practically exploded with excitement. Her cheeks turned red, her voice rose two octaves, and she jumped on Bella's neck like a koala in heat.

"AHHH! I LOVE the Goddess of Judgment! She's my favorite!"

"AND SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND?! That's insane!"

"You've been hiding this whole time?"

"Wait—that day at school when the big green monster showed up—you saved me, didn't you?!"

"And on Basai Island, when you said you were going to the bathroom—YOU FLEW TO NEW YORK TO FIGHT ALIENS?!?!"

"That screen wipe was SO COOL. I made it my computer wallpaper!"

Angie's loud voice didn't faze little Sally or Cosmo.

But the big blue cat, Nina, who'd been dozing at Bella's feet? She was scared stiff, her fur puffed out like a balloon.

She stared up with a confused little face like:

"What are these Twolegs even doing?"

---

Eventually, Angie calmed down, rubbed Sally's soft cheek, and asked in a mock-threatening voice:

"Wait... does little Sally know too?"

"Mhm~" Sally nodded innocently.

Angie clutched her chest in dramatic betrayal.

"So I was the last to find out? Bella, do you even love me?"

Even Bella had to laugh.

Sally, wanting to help, took out a lollipop from her pocket and offered it sweetly.

"Don't be sad, Sister Angie. Nina doesn't know either."

Angie froze.

She blinked at the lollipop, realizing—Sally never mentioned Cosmo.

(Oof.)

"Wow... thanks for the comfort."

"Hee hee~" Sally giggled, sticking out her tongue playfully.

Angie ruffled her hair with a smile, then turned to Bella, ready to start the real interrogation.

If her best friend was really the Goddess of Judgment?

Well then, she had questions. A lot of them.
