Once again, Shiao Yi was picked up and carried.
Just like before, he was taken straight into a room. And just like before, he felt all the surprised looks and heavy stares from people around him.
Was he supposed to be used to it by now? Get real—how could anyone get used to this?
Even though it was already late at night—probably because of the recent magical beast attack—the fortress was still buzzing with people who are moving around and talking. It hadn't settled down at all.
But that didn't matter to the captain. Without caring about what was happening outside, he brought Shiao Yi straight into his own room.
Brought him into his own room…
That sounded bad. It wasn't a pleasant way to put it, but honestly, that's exactly how it felt to Shiao Yi.
What was this guy even thinking?
"How's your injury? Let me see it," Dominic said as he gently placed Shiao Yi down on a firm sofa.
As expected, the captain's room was spacious. It had a large bed, a table, and other well-kept furniture. The style was simple and practical—but for a room in a frontline fortress, it was surprisingly luxurious.
Shiao Yi preferred the plain, no-frills look anyway. Maybe it was because he was used to it.
In his previous world, his former commanders had rooms full of useless, flashy furniture and ornaments. Just looking at that kind of overdone luxury made him feel sick. As far as he was concerned, furniture only needed to serve its purpose. Fancy decorations just made cleaning harder for no reason.
He pulled off the stiff, rough shirt that had been given to him. On his small frame, it looked more like a long tunic or even a dress. He had no choice but to tie it at the waist with a string someone gave him.
He was skinny, sure—but still, he was 170 centimeters tall. That wasn't short! What on earth were these people eating to end up so tall and big in this world?
When the bandages were taken off, Shiao Yi felt the pressure lift from his body, leaving him more at ease. It would've been perfect if he could take a shower too, he thought. While he was lost in that wishful thought, Dominic, who had been inspecting his body, gave a satisfied nod.
"Looks like your bones and internal organs have fully healed. That's good."
"Dominic, you healed me, didn't you? Thank you. Honestly, I didn't think I'd make it. And now, to be completely healed in such a short time... it feels like a miracle."
"I didn't expect the healing to work this well either. It seems we're a good match, you and I."
"A good match?" Shiao Yi echoed.
"Yes," Dominic said calmly. "You're my one and only."
"...Huh?"
Before Shiao Yi could understand what he meant, Dominic suddenly pulled him into a hug. Shiao Yi immediately becoming tensed—he wasn't wearing a shirt. His upper body was completely bare.
