"Really want to fight?" The referee was momentarily stunned. After all, since the official start of the Tianhai Tournament, there had never been such a match on the schedule. But seeing that the Shrek students insisted, he wasn't sure what to do.
"Fight! The Tianhai Alliance side doesn't want Shrek Academy to forfeit, right?" Gu You looked at the referee.
"Right!" Ye Xinglan also nodded in agreement. Behind her, Xu Lizhi was already dumbfounded. Was this little conflict really worth escalating into a fight?
"We must fight! Let this kid see Shrek Academy's power!!"
Even the watching crowd started chanting along.
The referee glanced toward the alliance stand — maybe he already knew the answer — and raised his hand high. "A 1v1 match?" he asked simply.
"Of course…" Ye Xinglan began to speak.
But before she could finish, Gu You raised his finger toward the Shrek team and said, "All of you, come at me together!"
What?!
"You're not joking, are you?" The referee rubbed his ear, making sure he hadn't misheard. Even a peerless genius facing seven opponents of the same rank would hesitate — let alone when the opponents were stronger. No one knew Gu You's exact cultivation, but if he was really the boy from the Federation news, maybe it was possible… but this was Shrek Academy! Every one of its students was a top genius.
"No way! I must personally defeat you!" Ye Xinglan pointed her sword at Gu You.
"There's only one person in this world who can punish me — and that's myself. You're not worthy!" Gu You smiled calmly at her.
"You—!" Ye Xinglan was about to be driven mad by his arrogant words.
"Xinglan, let me handle this." Long Yuan stepped forward, standing in front of Ye Xinglan. His cold gaze locked onto Gu You. "You'd better apologize to her."
Gu You looked unimpressed. "Haha! The funniest thing I've ever heard is someone asking me to apologize. Whether I'm right or wrong — I do as I please, and walk my own road."
The atmosphere turned tense, like a drawn sword.
"Don't…" Xu Lizhi began weakly, but before he could finish, the referee announced, "With Shrek's team instructor's consent, the seven-on-one match is approved."
Shen Yi, the Shrek team's instructor, watched Gu You from the stands. For someone to say such rebellious words to Shrek — throughout history, there had only been one: this boy. "Let me see just how much you've improved…" she murmured.
Ye Xinglan nearly thought she'd misheard. Teacher Shen actually approved a seven-versus-one?!
"Let me show you the consequences of provoking Shrek!" Long Yuan roared as he stepped back thirty meters. The two sides faced off, and the entire arena fell silent. No one could confidently predict the winner. After all, anyone daring to challenge Shrek like this couldn't be weak, right? And some audience members had already realized: this Gu You was the same boy from Federation news — the "Three Good Teen," nicknamed "Evil Spirit Slayer" by netizens.
Perhaps worried about trouble, the referee was replaced by an elder whose calm aura revealed formidable strength.
"Both sides, release your spirits!"
Ye Xinglan's Star God Sword emerged, and sword energy surged forth. For someone so young to have grasped sword aura, her talent was extraordinary. Two soul rings rose beneath her feet.
"Shrek students, we won't let you insult us!" a girl shouted coldly as three soul rings rose beneath her feet. In her right hand, a seven-story pagoda appeared, radiating light. The lower three tiers glowed simultaneously, casting beams of support onto Long Yuan.
Although Xu Lizhi really didn't want to fight, he had no choice. Two soul rings rose at his feet, and he tossed a large meat bun toward Long Yuan.
"Why not give me one?! Are you siding with him?!" Ye Xinglan shot Xu Lizhi an angry glare, thinking he was favoring Gu You just because Gu You had fed him earlier.
"No, Xinglan-jie, I…" Xu Lizhi stammered.
Gu You's voice suddenly came through calmly. "Little fatty! Give it to them. I, Gu You, always fight fair. Whether they're arrogant or proud — it's all the same to me. I never target food- or support-type soul masters, nor do I hold grudges."
Instantly, Xu Lizhi's view of Gu You rose sharply. His two soul rings lit up, and he quickly threw buns to his teammates.
"Roar!" Long Yuan let out a low dragon roar. His body swelled, especially his arms, which became massive and powerful. Four soul rings rose: two yellow, one purple, and — one black!
In the Zero Class section, Tang Wulin and the others were briefly surprised, but they knew even this wouldn't be enough to defeat Gu You. Still, it was shaping up to be an exciting fight. Even Gu Yue's eyes gleamed with curiosity at Long Yuan's martial spirit, and the usually silent Wu Zhangkong stood up to observe seriously.
Abyssal Demon Dragon King!
Even Gu You was surprised — this was an absolute-class martial spirit! Rarer even than divine-level spirits; while slightly weaker than divine spirits, the "King" title alone marked its supreme position among dragon-type spirits. With extreme abyssal devouring attributes and lightning effects, it was indeed formidable.
Long Yuan's body kept changing, dragon scales spreading, a flood of draconic might radiating outward. Across the arena, all beast-type soul masters felt a faint shiver.
Gu You raised his right hand. His soul rings lit up: purple, purple… and then red. That final red soul ring was ten times larger than the others, exuding a terrifying pressure that swept over the arena, instantly crushing Long Yuan's dragon aura.
"What…" Seeing the 100,000-year soul ring, even Ye Xinglan — no matter how much she didn't want to believe it — had to accept it.
The entire audience rose to their feet, staring in shock, their hearts filled with envy, awe, or even jealousy. A soul elder possessing a 100,000-year soul ring? If his soul spirit allowed, his later five rings could all be red!
Shen Yi wasn't surprised, though. She knew that if Gu You wanted, he could easily possess nine 100,000-year soul rings. After all, his background was there.
Long Yuan roared angrily, and a thunderous crackle echoed across the stage.
A fierce burst of blue light exploded at the center of the arena, and bolts of lightning enveloped the entire stage.
A domain!
That was Gu You's first thought — and he was genuinely impressed. Possessing a domain at the four-ring level? This opponent was no ordinary genius.
Abyssal Thunder King Domain!!
It paralyzed opponents from all directions, devouring their soul power and absorbing it for oneself.
But… the spectators couldn't see anything.
Grumbles spread across the audience. Finally, an epic battle worth watching — and now they were being told they couldn't even see it?
