Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: The Hollow Oath

Beyond the Gray Expanse, the fabric of existence ceased to behave as expected. Gravity, time, causality—all bent in reverence to something older than law. As Rei and his companions crossed the threshold of the silent gate, they stepped into a realm that was neither place nor thought, but question.

Here, the sky was composed of decisions not made, and the ground breathed like a living memory. Light refused to shine unless remembered. And silence—true silence—cloaked all.

It was not oppressive. It was waiting.

They stood on a circular platform of mirrored obsidian, suspended in the void. Before them, a vast archway of shifting runes hovered midair. It bore no inscription, but each soul knew what it was: The Oath Gate.

And at its center stood a figure that shimmered with every life Rei had lived—and had not.

It was him. Not a reflection, not a future. But an answer. One he had never dared ask.

The apparition spoke first.

"You are the consequence of threads severed and rewritten. You carry flames not meant to mix. And yet you stand. Why?"

Rei didn't answer immediately. He turned to look at the women who had followed him into this unknown.

Eirenne, unwavering even when faced with absolutes.

Noira, blade at rest, eyes defiant.

Mireille, mind ablaze with curiosity and sorrow.

"I came because I was forgotten," Rei finally said. "Then I remembered myself. Now I carry memory not for me alone, but for every soul denied the right to be whole."

The Oath shimmered.

"Then speak your truth. Not for power. Not for permission. But for witness."

Rei stepped forward. The flame on his back ignited, but it did not consume. Instead, it peeled open. From it emerged the sigils of the three witnesses: Voice, Silence, Perspective.

Together, they spun around him, forming a crown not of royalty, but of reckoning.

Rei raised his voice—not loud, but honest.

"I am Kazenari Rei. Born to nothing. Rewritten by consequence. Forged by thread and fire. I do not seek dominion. I do not crave legacy. I walk for those forgotten by both heaven and hell."

The realm pulsed. The runes above began to cascade.

"I take no Oath that demands loyalty to fate. I offer my truth: that memory is sacred, flame is choice, and power must never outrun empathy."

With those words, the platform vanished.

They fell—but not in fear. They fell into meaning.

Elsewhere — Heaven's Watchtower

Gabriel awoke with a gasp. Feathers scattered across marble.

Michael turned. "You saw it too?"

Gabriel nodded. "The Hollow Oath has been claimed."

Michael looked toward the sky. "Then the Veil will thin. All truths will bleed."

Elsewhere — Dimensional Labyrinth

Ophis opened her eyes for the first time in years.

"Balance is shifting. The thread walker approaches the center."

Great Red roared from the infinite void, not in fury, but in recognition.

The Return — Earth, Shrine of the North Wind

Rei stood once again beneath the ancient pine, but the world no longer looked the same.

In his hands, a flame curled—not for battle, but for memory.

Eirenne stood beside him, voice gentle. "What now?"

He looked to the sky, now fractured with possibility.

"Now we remind the world what it forgot. One truth at a time."

Behind him, Noira and Mireille joined, each holding a sigil of their own.

The Oath had not given them direction.

It had given them the right to choose.
