Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Lillie, I Like You!

But Great Nezzy wasn't about to go down without a fight. Facing the devastating, world-devouring attack, it once again unfurled its wings:

"No! I must win! Prismatic Laser!"

Power surged once more through Ultra Necrozma. Its reserves were low, yes—but that was only relatively speaking. A god of light was still a god of light, and even in its battle-damaged form, Prismatic Laser remained nothing to scoff at.

Unfortunately, it still wasn't enough… The enhanced Moongeist Beam tore through it like a hot knife through butter, obliterating the 160-power move and slamming straight into the dragon's head.

"GRAAAAAAAHHHHH—!!!"

With a monstrous explosion, the Light Dragon plummeted like a crashing helicopter, smashing into the eye of the spatial storm.

Then, after enduring the storm's fury, it slammed into the far "wall" of the Ultra Wormhole corridor.

Dragon-types are undeniably strong, boasting four resistances and only two weaknesses.

But unfortunately, none of those resistances apply to Ghost—the very type Moongeist Beam belongs to, and a natural counter to Psychic-types like Necrozma.

And so, when the radiant body of the god of light was shattered, it was trampled and overwhelmed by that ghostly light.

Even so, Necrozma hadn't been completely defeated.

Clinging to the wall, she tried to rise again. Pain radiated from her body, telling her she desperately needed to rest.

But she wouldn't fall just yet. The radiant god would not fade so easily.

Lillie and Lunala weren't faring much better.

Using a Z-Move puts a heavy toll on the Trainer. Lillie's desperate gamble—burning through her stamina like some debt-dodging legend from a call center—was bound to have consequences.

As soon as the clash ended, Lillie collapsed to her knees, her once-rosy cheeks now ghostly pale.

If one looked closely, there was even blood at the corner of her lips… which she promptly swallowed back down.

At the very least, she refused to show weakness—not in front of Lana or Iono.

Lunala was slightly better off… but only slightly. While the move's power had been boosted tremendously, her own natural "caliber" wasn't high enough, resulting in some heavy recoil damage.

In truth, Necrozma barely landed a hit on her. Most of Lunala's wounds were self-inflicted.

"Nebby… this is the end."

"Let's finish it."

Lillie gasped for breath and gave her partner one last command.

"She stole my man… used my mom as a mattress… streamed all that sick, twisted crap live for me to watch…"

"So now, I'll punish her—my way."

The exhausted Nebby took off, transforming itself into a living missile with "Twinkle Tackle", crashing directly into Lana and Necrozma's fused body.

That finally did it.

Lunala fainted.

Ultra Necrozma was forcibly separated into Necrozma, Solgaleo, and Lana.

All three of the so-called "cosmic Pokémon" lost consciousness.

Though, since none of them had actual Trainers, there was no returning to Poké Balls involved.

"Thank you, Nebby…"

Murmuring those words, the girl finally collapsed backward.

At that moment, Haru rushed to her side.

He gently held her by the shoulders, concern flooding his voice:

"Are you okay, Lillie?"

Truthfully, Haru was deeply disturbed by the bits of "streaming" and "public obscenity" Lillie had blurted out earlier. He really wanted to ask how much she had actually seen.

He never imagined that Lana would go so far as to stream what had happened on top of the Ultra Megalopolis Tower to Lillie in real time.

Lillie liked him. And now, not only had Lana snatched him away in front of her, she'd also forced Lillie to watch it live. That was beyond betrayal—it was psychological warfare.

Whoever pulled that off had to be a world-class degenerate.

Then again… it fit Lana's character perfectly.

But this wasn't the time to ask questions. And if he did ask… things would get very awkward.

Hearing Haru's concerned tone, Lillie opened her eyes and gave a fragile smile.

"Hah… Haru, look… I did it. I saved you all."

"I didn't lose. I didn't lose to anyone."

"Yeah. Yeah, you didn't lose."

At this point, what could Haru even say?

After all that—after being forced to watch that stream—she still went this far for him. She'd even overcome her fear of Pokémon to challenge the strongest Ultra Beast, the radiant god of light…

Even someone with a heart of stone would feel something stir.

"So… Haru, about the question I asked earlier… can you give me an answ—cough, cough—"

She broke into another fit of coughing before finishing the sentence. Her pale face flushed red from exertion.

Haru knew what she wanted to say, even if she couldn't finish.

Back before he was "abducted," Lillie had come at him with a full-on confession. No hints. No ambiguity.

She wanted to become his actual, publicly acknowledged girlfriend.

"Yeah. I like you, Lillie. Will you be with me from now on?"

There was no room for hesitation anymore. Haru felt that he just couldn't say no to this blonde girl—not after everything.

As for what came next… he'd just have to figure it out himself.

"Haa~ Thank you. Thank you, Haru…"

With those words, the girl finally smiled—truly smiled—for the first time in a long while. Her voice grew softer and softer, until she closed her eyes and passed out in Haru's arms.

She'd already hit her limit long ago. Everything after that had been sheer force of will. Now that she had her answer, she finally allowed herself to rest.

After all this, she'd probably need several months to recover once she got back to Alola.

But just then, a certain streamer girl with two Magnemites in her hair showed up beside them.

"What about Iono?! What are you going to do about her, huh?!"

"When she wakes up, how are you going to explain me, or all that crap you did in Ultra Megalopolis?!"

"…"

He wanted to die.
