Ashborn woke up with a splitting headache, what happened? He asked no one in particular. His memories came back rushing like a flood.
He remembers, he had a fight with that creature and barely won. He remembers consuming it and it essence blood but felt like he was missing something.
He looked at Shade sleeping next to him, the big cat woke up when he felt his gaze then went back to sleep, he was exhausted. He had a rough idea how much time had passed outside due to the navigational skills of the dark raven bloodline.
Surprisingly only about 30 minutes had passed outside while he felt like he had spent days in that weird space. He tried to relax but the nagging feeling that he was forgetting something did not leave the back of his mind.
However no matter how hard he tried he still could not remember what he missed, infact his memories did not feel disjointed so he wasn't sure something tempered with them so why? Why does he feel like this?
Deciding there's nothing he can about it for now he chose to check his status screen.

( Negative, host high compatibility with his other bloodlines is due to the systems interference, it modify your body and soul to be compatible to any bloodline and the same goes for those granted bloodlines by you)
If you can modify me then why am I not compatible to this one? ( Answer, there's a limit to how much the system can change your body, Spector bloodline is only compatible to beings without a physical body)

99% is definitely high compatibility but with nothing to compare to I can't really tell if the others are high as well or just avarage but the system did say high compatibility so I'll trust it.
He looked at the last bloodline, damn that really low, I doubt I would even be able to use it at all. System, convert the Wailing Spector bloodline into bloodpoints.

Surprise flickered in his eyes, the system sounded a bit, I don't know, alive? So he decided to do as it said even if that will cost him blood points, to begin with he didn't even know how many points he would need to merge bloodlines.

No, I'm sure there were lines there, system you wouldn't lie to me would you? ( ...Never) he noticed it pause but chose not to dwell on it.
Wait, system, I'm certain I absorbed it core so why am I still at the late stage, that thing was definitely at the blood essence condensation realm?( Spectors have soul cores not blood cores, absorbing one will not progress your realm but strengthen your soul)
What use is that? There was not answer. I guess we're done talking, he wanted to leave this place but Shade seemed to be too tired to even move so he waited.
With that creature gone they had nothing to worry about, unless there's another ofcourse but he doubted that. He rested his back on one of the burnt trees.
The fire had gone out and the entire forest was filled with Ash and smoke, he felt right at home, even his blood essence was regenerating faster.
A few hours passed and Shade could move again, ofcourse he still did not have blood essence but he had regenerated enough stamina to move so they felt.
He had to reach the second rank before he went back home, he did not know why but he felt something was coming, something big and he had to prepare for it.
It didn't take long for them to leave the burnt part of the forest, he expected to come out to another forest but what appeared before his eyes was a vast desolate landscape.
