Chapter 39 - Chapter 38

He woke feeling refreshed, he looked around and noticed a wave of blue substance flowing into his body healing his wounds. He recognised the blue substance as the corpse of the creature.

His limbs were regenerating slowly, even his head did not feel as painful. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the process, time passed with nothing interesting happening.

He was getting bored, he still could not wrap his head around this place or how he got here so even if he wanted to leave he could not.

Status, he whispered.

Name: Ashborn

Rank: 1 (Bloodline intergration realm- late stage)

Bloodlines:

-Knight Fang of Ash bloodline (sky grade)

-Tree hide Boar bloodline (earth grade)

-Dark Raven bloodline (earth grade)

-Sky falcon bloodline (earth grade)

- Shadow walker bloodline (earth grade/extremely degraded)

-Corrupted White Tiger Bloodline (mortal grade)

Blood points:67

His status screen was looking better and better, it only stain was the mortal grade bloodline but he had no intentions to cast it aside yet, besides he can upgrade it if he want to.

He absorbed all of the blue remains of his enemy including the fragments of the core, it felt refreshing, his body had healed completely, infact he was larger.

He did not know by how much exactly but if he had to assume, he would say he was about 50% larger. While lost in his ecstasy he did not notice a drop of golden blood floating before him until it was close to him.

It was only when he felt the pressure radiating from it that he raised his head. It was an essence blood and he was certain the bloodline inside was of higher grade than his own.

He reached out to grab the drop of blood when a pressure so vast, so ancient it felt like the world itself pressed on him causing his body groan like a breaking wood.

A tiny crack appeared on his forehead, no blood came out, ofcourse this form had no actual blood,he noticed that before but it still bled something.

However nothing came out of the crack, it was as if his body was made of glass. He felt a voice, or rather a chorus of incomprehensible voices.

No, no he was wrong, this was not a voice, he couldn't explain it but he knew, this was merely a thought. A thought so powerful, so ancient and vast he could not even comprehend it.

It felt vile and dark like the source of all corruption, the cracks spread to the rest of his body. A dark slimy substance like tar flowed out of the drop of golden blood, the revulsion he felt towards it was beyond measure.

It was as if his body denied the very existence of this thing, it presence was so vile even the rivers of blood essence around him were turning black.

He felt like throwing up but he had no actual stomach. The slimy tar like substance flowed slowly like a snake, extending as it approached him, the closer it got, the more repulsion he felt.

Even before it reached him dark spots appeared in his body. The spots felt like the most disgusting thing he had ever felt, before he could even try to remove them, voices echoed in his head.

It felt like a thousand tortured souls were screaming in his head at once, it was unbearable. He could not even understand a single word they said and it was not because of a language barrier, their words themselves had a scent of an ancient corruption, incomprehensible to none but them.

He could not even understand how he can smell the scent in their thought but he could. Perhaps not understand them was a blessing or the corruption might have infected him but they were so loud it was unbearable.

He held his head and screamed trying to drown out the voices to no avail. They grew louder and louder until he could not even hear his own thoughts.

Images of death, mountains of corpses and rivers of blood replaced his thought, before he noticed it he was slowly repeating the incomprehensible words in his head, he was starting to understand them.

The boundless thought was infecting his mind and there was nothing he could do about, he had never felt so powerless, even when he face a corrupted beast as mortal human he still had hope but this.

He could not even think of a solution and the worst part was he could not even fully understand their meaning just their intention, or atleast a part of it.

Deep down he could tell the being this thought belonged to found him interesting or atleast that how he interpreted the little understanding of it he got.

And that little comprehension is what landed him in his current predicament, he was slowly being corrupted, he could feel his thought slowly slipping away from him.

He looked at the cursed golden blood, this was where the corruption and thought came from but how, this blood came from a dead creature only a single rank above him so how can it thought be so vast?

Unless, but before he could finish his thoughts a bell chime that felt like an echo from all around him filled the area. With it came a thought just as vast as the first one but much more pure.

He could not comprehend the thought but it presence gave him peace, the voices in his head grew fainter and fainter with every bell chime until they disappeared entirely.

The dark spots in his body disappeared like smoke, the cracks started healing and the corruption in the rivers of blood essence disappeared.

The tar like substance retreated back into the golden blood, the two boundless thought clashed with him in the middle, he could not understand them and he did not even try, he was too afraid to.

Before long the vast corrupted thought disappeared leaving the golden drop of blood floating before him. The golden drop started floating towards his head.

He tried to run, he was extremely terrified of it,when he tried to run however he felt the thought all around him as if caressing his skin, his body refused to move.

Although he couldn't fully understand the thought he knew it was reassuring him, if it says it's okay then it's okay, not that he had a choise in the matter anyways, he sighed and absorbed the drop of blood.
