Chapter 1 - Transmigration

Under a withered tree, a young lady is seen lying flat on the ground almost still. After what seems like forever she stirs and opens her eyes. Looking around in confusion she sees a barren land and withered trees and dead branches resembling a famine.

Su Xiao blinked in surprise as she groaned at the pounding headache in her skull accompanied by a rush of unfamiliar memories which made her almost lose consciousness. Su Xiao couldn't believe it. She had transmigrated to the ancient times to a woman with the same name as her but was married to a crippled husband and had two children and on their way to an exile.

She was a modern woman who died by zombies while fighting the apocalypse in the 2090 but she was surrounded and died but surprisingly transmigrated here. As for why she was lying here, the original owner was a cruel mother and wife and wanted to exchange her kids for a bag of refined rice but unfortunately the bandits took all her money and hit her with a stick and she died which allowed her transmigrate.

Sorting out the memories she stood up and leaned on the tree. Observing her surroundings, she wanted to find her way back to the other refugees where her husband and children were staying. As she thought she thought how great it would be if she had her space with her. During the apocalypse she had hoarded a lot of stuff ranging from medicine to food and clothes and water. They resources would be enough to last her enough for a lifetime and her heart aches just thinking that it was gone.

This era was better than the apocalypse where you had to be alert and on guard against Zombies. As she thought of it she felt dizzy and her vision swayed and she found her self at a familiar place. Su Xiao couldn't control her excitement seeing her space. Yes, her space. She had somehow triggered it and it appeared with all the resources she hoarded intact in it.

Feeling her stomach grumble she immediately took out the already cooked braised pork she had cooked and devoured it then drank water before feeling satisfied. She treated her injury and took some pain reliever before leaving the space. Relying on her memory she arrived at the camp and then headed to the direction of the kids.

The so called camp was just a tree shade and some dead branches for sitting down which showed their condition. The kids immediately looked at her vigilantly as she approached as they protected their father like she was some ferocious beast. Su Xiao sized them up and discovered they were scrawny and malnourished and also dirty.

Yes dirty.

It was probably due to the fact of no water along with the continuous journey. She approached them and squatted to examine the unconscious husband but a hand stopped her.

"Don't touch my father"

The boy whose name she remembered as Mu Yu shouted at her as he shielded his younger twin brother from her. Her time at the apocalypse did nothing to mild her temper so she took a huge breath to avoid snapping at the kid.

"Mu Yu your father is unconscious and is having a fever so I need to check on him before his brain gets damaged".

Mu Yu looked at her for a while before he made way for her. Su Xiao placed her hand on the man's forehead and her brows furrowed making the kids tense up.

"What is wrong with father?"

"Is father going to die?"

The kids asked her simultaneously and the younger one burst into tears. Su Xiao looked at the crying boy and her heart softened as she felt her maternal instincts kick in. She gently comforted him.

"Don't worry Mu Chen, mother is not going to allow anything happen to your father okay"

Mu Chen nodded as he cleaned his tears feeling assured by her words. Seeing that he had stopped crying, Su Xiao turned to Mu Yu and instructed.

"Look after your father and brother while I go beg for food and some medicine to treat your father okay?"

Mu Yu's first thought was that the woman was planning to run away and abandon them since their father was about to die. He hated her fiercely in his heart but nodded. Not knowing what he was thinking, Su Xiao immediately ran back to the place she first woke up.

Entering her space she went to the medicine shelf and took out nutrient fluid and some fever reducing pills. Glancing at the biscuits she took it out and found an old looking cloth and made it into a water sack then poured water from the spring into it to avoid suspicion and some dried jujube fruit which was common in this era but not in this situation before she came out.

Mu Yu waited for some minutes without seeing the woman and became convinced that she had run away and his gaze became colder. Just as he was thinking of how to take care of their father and brother he saw a silhouette approaching and was stunned. He kept on staring blankly as the woman approached and squatted before them before he regained his senses.

"You came back"

He blankly murmured and his heart felt warm. Su Xiao heard his murmur and understood his concerns and nodded. The original host had harboured thoughts of running away but was scared to leave to avoid encountering danger so she stayed back.

Su Xiao skillfully fed the man the fever pills the nutrient fluid and then gave the kids the biscuits which seemed like dried ration food and whispered to them.

"Mother got this from a kind old man and he also gave me the medicine for your father so eat so we can get strength to continue our journey"

The children dumbly accepted the biscuits and started eating in small bites. After a few bites they stopped which made Su Xiao frown.

"Are you both full?"

"No. We have to keep for father when he wakes up"

Su Xiao was surprised. Such filial kids that it was almost heartbreaking. She quickly assured them.

"Finish your own. I kept some for your father when he wakes up so he can eat".

Seeing that she was not lying the kids happily eat their biscuits cautiously to avoid attracting attention. Su Xiao gave them some water and they felt full before she focused on the man.
