Miranda's POV
"What are you doing?" he frowned, walking towards me. I blinked wondering if I had imagined the shock on his face.
I quickly placed the pendant back inside the drawer and moved away.
"I-i thought I saw a rat-" I stuttered, trying to think of something.
"There are no rats in this place," He calmly replied, closing the drawer. He locked it and pocketed the key. "You must have seen something else,"
I gulped nervously and forced a smile on my face, "I-i guess so,"
Colton stared at me and I shrank back in fear. I hated it when his face was unreadable. How would I know what he was thinking?
"You should dress up. You and I are attending a party tonight," He picked his phone from the table and dialed a number.
"What party? I don't have any dresses," I blurted but quickly covered my mouth.
Why did I answer that way? I should have said I don't want to go!
"I'm sorry," I cleared my throat. "I'm too weak to attend any part-"
