Colton's POV
She ran out.
I watched as she disappeared through the double doors of the grand entrance, not looking back, Fury trailing behind her like smoke after a burn fire.
Parth of me wanted to storm after her, demand and apology and drag her back and make her face me
But the rest, the other part of me, the dark Parth, just stood there watching on moving in silence.
My feet moved on their own now.
She was too new to this world and it wasn't safe for her, she was reckless and fragile. And this place, this crowd, it wasn't safe. Especially here.
As I stepped out the cold night sir clinging to me like a second skin. The laughter, clinking glasses, and music all died down when I saw her.
Something in my chest twisted as I watched her from the dark corner where I stood, she wasn't alone.
Axel was with her.
My cousin leaned down beside her speaking softly, I couldn't hear the words I wasn't trying to.
