The hall was in chaos, but Kael could barely feel it. His skin buzzed like a thousand electric threads were crawling underneath. He stumbled forward, still reeling from the surge that tore through him moments ago. Somewhere above, the Drive Engine let out a mechanical wail before powering down completely. The silence it left behind was even louder.

--- [SSS-Class: Overdrive – Carnal Nexus Confirmed]---
--- [Caution: Emotional instability and entanglement risk elevated]---
Kael clenched his teeth. Every breath he took came with heat ,no hunger that coiled in his gut like molten desire. Not his. Not entirely. The threads he saw weren't illusions they pulsed faintly from his chest toward the girls still on the floor one hand clutched over their hearts faces flushed.
He wanted to tear the threads away. Instead, his fingers trembled.
From the crowd a female instructor with dark eyes and a military stance approached her black coat billowing behind her. She raised a hand.
"Restrain the subject!"
Kael flinched. His body moved on instinct, and the thread ,no anchor responded. A whip of red light snapped from his chest coiling toward the nearest staff member. It didn't attack. It simply hovered thrummed, like it knew her deepest secret.
She hesitated.
Her stance broke.
The power responded to desire and it magnified it.
Kael stepped back, pulse hammering. "I don't know what this is. But you touch me, you'll feel it."
The woman's eyes widened in panic, though she tried to hide it. Another instructor put a hand on her shoulder and whispered, "He's not stable. Pull back."
Kael's vision wavered. The heat in him was building, unrelenting. Sweat clung to his skin. His jacket was damp. He barely noticed the guards parting unsure if they were afraid of his power or what it would reveal in themselves.
The system chimed again.
--- [Anchor Instability Reached: Emotional Venting Required]---
---[Suggest: Isolation and Release]---
Kael cursed. "Are you serious?"
The system didn't reply. It never did.
He turned and ran out of the hall through the open steel doors, into the academy corridor where the shadows swallowed him. Whispers echoed behind him and a warning blared overhead.
"All students are to return to quarters. Drive System malfunction reported. This is not a drill."
Kael didn't stop. Not until he reached the lower levels of the dormitories an unused section now blocked off for maintenance. He slumped against a wall, chest heaving.
The threads followed him, glowing faintly in the air.
He was connected to them.
And worse they felt what he felt.
Far above, within the observation chamber, a woman in a high-collared white coat stared at the logs. Her silver hair was neatly tied, but her knuckles were white on the glass.
"SSS-Class. Carnal Nexus," she whispered. "It's real."
A man beside her a tall figure in a priest's garb with cybernetic implants glared at the display. "It should have been purged. That class is unstable. Forbidden."
"And yet… here he is," she said, voice trembling with something between awe and concern. "The Sinborn Thread... Do you realize what this means?"
The priest's eyes darkened. "He'll either rule the system... or destroy it."
Back in the dormitory shadows, Kael finally peeled off his jacket. Steam rose from his skin. His shirt clung to his chest, revealing lean muscles rippled with new Drive marks glowing sigils over his heart and down his arms.
He didn't feel strong.
He felt invaded.
His thoughts were a mess, not because he was aroused but because the emotion wasn't entirely his. The lust hot, wild, and unfamiliar bounced through the anchors. It was leaking into him from the others.
And he couldn't shut it off.
Footsteps echoed.
He turned sharply ready to lash out but stopped.
One of the girls from earlier stood in the doorway, hugging her arms, cheeks red, eyes wide with confusion and something else. Wanting. Needing.
"I don't know why... but I can't stop thinking about you," she said, breath catching. "What did you do to me?"
Kael stared at the thread glowing between them.
"I didn't choose this."
She took a step closer.
"But you can't undo it... can you?"
His throat went dry.
"I—"
--- [Anchor Stabilization Possible via Emotional Merge]---
Kael's vision blurred. Her scent reached him warm jasmine. His body reacted. The Drive pulsed with hunger again, tugging at him to respond , to connect, to merge.
This wasn't just physical. It was emotional warfare.
And for the first time in his life Kael realized something terrifying.
His greatest weapon...
Might be his greatest temptation.
