Chapter 5: The First Flight with Shiro

Two years later...

Thor stood silently by the large wooden-framed window of the cabin nestled deep in the forest. Snowflakes gently cascaded from the grey sky, blanketing the earth in white silence. The warm orange glow of the fireplace crackled behind him, casting soft light across the wooden interior of the home he had built with Shiro. In his arms, the girl he had come to see as his younger sister nestled comfortably, her head resting against his shoulder.

"Ni-san," Shiro said, her voice soft and a little pouty, "When are we going to do something fun? I'm getting bored just staying here."

Thor smiled faintly, ruffling her silver hair. Over the last two years, she had grown remarkably. Her once fragile, dragon-infused human form had matured, and her energy was almost uncontainable.

He thought for a moment, then said, "How about we start training your flight? You've grown a lot. I'm sure you can handle flying by now."

Shiro's eyes lit up with excitement. "Yes! Let's go!"

The two stepped outside into the chilly forest, their boots crunching softly on the fresh snow. The sky above was a soft blend of blue and grey, and distant mountains stood like silent giants against the horizon. Birds chirped and rustled in the trees, despite the cold, as if to witness the moment.

They ventured deep into the forest clearing where they usually trained. With a glowing flash, Shiro reverted to her true form: a magnificent Light Fury dragon. Her smooth, scaled body shimmered faintly in the filtered light. Thor took a few steps back to give her space.

"Alright, let's start slow. Just try to lift off. No need to go too high yet."

Shiro nodded and began flapping her wings. At first, she only hovered a few feet above the ground, her movements shaky and uncertain. But as time passed, her confidence grew. After several hours of practice and encouragement from Thor, she was soaring gracefully above the trees, looping and gliding with elegance.

She descended quickly, landing softly in front of Thor, her eyes sparkling with joy.

"Ni-san! Come on, I'll take you for a ride!"

Thor climbed onto her back without hesitation, gripping her neck gently. With a powerful leap, Shiro launched into the sky, her wings cutting through the crisp air. As they ascended, the vast world below revealed itself — snow-draped forests, frozen rivers, and faraway mountains touched by clouds.

"Look, Ni-san! Isn't it beautiful?" she called over the wind.

Thor could barely speak. The view took his breath away. "Yeah… it's incredible. One day, we'll explore every part of this world together."

Shiro nodded mid-flight and began performing acrobatics — swift spirals, high arcs, and playful dives. The wind howled around them, exhilarating and wild. It was a moment of freedom, of pure joy. Thor laughed aloud, the sound lost to the sky.

As they skimmed low over a shimmering frozen lake, the reflection of their forms danced beneath them. But suddenly, Thor's eyes widened.

"Shiro! Look out!" he shouted, pointing ahead.

Massive jagged stones jutted out from the frozen water like the teeth of some ancient beast.

"I can't dodge in time, Ni-san!" Shiro cried.

"Use the thunder I gave you! I'll use mine!"

In a split second, Shiro's body lit up with brilliant white lightning, while Thor channeled his deep-blue thunder aura. Sparks danced across the sky. The storm within them awakened.

"Now, Shiro! Spin and release the energy!"

Shiro twisted her body in midair, wings flaring wide. A roaring torrent of white and blue thunderbolts erupted from them both, intertwining in a dazzling spiral. The energy beam slammed into the rocks with explosive force, vaporizing them in a flash of light and sound.

Shiro steadied herself in the aftermath, panting. "We did it, Ni-san..."

Thor held on tightly. His eyes tracked the destruction below — a smoking path of shattered ice and shattered stone. "That power... it's incredible. I wonder how strong we can become together. How far can this bond go?"

Shiro gently descended to the forest floor, her wings still humming with residual energy. As she landed, she transformed back into her human-like form and ran toward Thor, leaping into his arms.

"Let's go home, Ni-san," she whispered, her voice muffled against his chest.

Thor looked down at her, her eyes closed peacefully as exhaustion took over. "You really have no sense of timing," he chuckled, shaking his head. Still holding her tightly, he turned toward the path leading home. The snow had begun to fall again, softer now, as if the forest itself acknowledged the bond between them.

"Yeah… Let's go home."
