Chapter 4: My Dragon Girl
Thor stood still, staring in awe at the Light Fury before him. Or rather, what she had become. After forming the contract, he knew she would transform—but he hadn't expected this. Her body now resembled a human girl, slender and petite, with long white hair and mesmerizing eyes that shimmered like the moon. Her appearance was unmistakable—she looked exactly like Shiro from No Game No Life. The resemblance was uncanny, almost magical.
The Light Fury slowly opened her eyes, blinking as she took in her surroundings. Thor's heart raced with excitement. He thought to himself, She should be able to talk now… The contract not only enhances intelligence but also shares some of my memories. That way, she doesn't start from scratch. Just simple things—like my likes and dislikes, how to speak, how to interact. He stepped closer, cautious but eager.
"Are you okay?" Thor asked softly, his voice carrying genuine concern.
The girl tilted her head and looked at him, her expression neutral, yet somehow endearing. "Ni-san," she said quietly.
Thor's eyes widened. Finally, he thought. A little sister in real life… but in 2D form! He could barely contain his joy. She's not human, she's adorable, and she looks just like Shiro. That same blank, cute face… My god, I've never felt so happy!
"You… don't like me?" she asked, her voice soft and almost mechanical, yet sweet in its own way.
Thor couldn't hold back any longer. He stepped forward, scooping her into his arms with gentle care, holding her tight against his chest. "Of course I like you," he said, his voice warm and reassuring. "You can call me 'big brother' as much as you want."
She nestled into his arms, calm and content. Thor held her tighter, as if he was afraid she might vanish. "You need a name," he whispered. "And your name… will be Shiro. It's the only name that suits you."
He smiled to himself. Now that I have my dragon girl, he thought, it's time to go home. Carefully, he took off his shirt and wrapped it around her delicate body to keep her warm. Then, lifting her princess-style in his arms, he started walking back toward the village.
The sun had already begun to set, casting golden rays over the forest. Thor moved quietly, weaving through the trees with ease. Shiro clung to him gently, her eyes closed, trusting him completely.
As they neared the house, a sudden thought hit him like lightning. "Oh no," he muttered, freezing mid-step. I was so excited about Shiro that I forgot about my father…
He imagined the scene in his head:
"Hey Dad, this is my dragon girlfriend. She's going to live with us now!"
Estoico's response: "Ungrateful son!"
Explosion. Death. The end.
Thor glanced down at Shiro's features. Though she appeared human, small dragon-like traits remained—subtle horns, faint scales, a slight glow in her eyes. "I can't let him see her like this…"
He paused, thinking quickly. I'll sneak her into my room and hide her there tonight. Tomorrow, I'll build her a small cabin in the woods. That way, we can meet every night once everyone's asleep. She'll only be alone during the day, and I can visit her often.
With his plan set, Thor jumped onto the roof of their home and carefully opened the window to his room. He climbed in, still carrying Shiro gently, and laid her down on his bed. She looked up at him, blinking quietly. He smiled and covered her with a blanket.
Just then, he heard his father yelling from below. "Thor! Come eat if you're home!"
Thor turned to Shiro. "Stay here, okay? I'll be back soon. Don't leave the room." He closed the door softly and hurried downstairs.
"There you are," said Estoico, a bit gruff. "Sit and eat with us."
Thor sat down at the table with his father and brother, forcing a calm expression onto his face. "How was your training today?" Estoico asked between bites.
"It went well," Thor replied. "A good workout."
Estoico smiled, nodding in approval. "That's good. You'll become a great Viking one day."
As they continued eating, Soluço excitedly began recounting his day at the forge with Bocam, his hands gesturing wildly as he spoke.
Thor smiled weakly, but his thoughts were elsewhere—upstairs, with Shiro. He pushed his food around his plate until finally standing up.
"I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted from training," he said quickly, already moving toward the stairs.
Once in his room, he closed the door behind him, his eyes locking onto the figure sitting upright in his bed. Shiro sat quietly, legs tucked under her, hands on her lap.
"What is it?" she asked.
Thor shook his head, walking over to her. "Nothing. Let's just go to sleep."
He picked her up again and lay down on the bed, holding her close in his arms. She fit perfectly against him, like she belonged there. He closed his eyes, breathing slowly.
I never understood why protagonists risked everything for their heroines, he thought. But now, holding Shiro in my arms, I understand completely. If anyone tries to harm her… they'll have to kill me first.
And with that final thought, Thor drifted into sleep, Shiro safely nestled against his chest, their bond sealed by more than just a magical contract—by a deep, unspoken trust.
