Chapter 4 - (Encounter)+

'Fucking chaos' was the only thought running through his head as everybody went haywire over the new transfer student. I've seen moments like this in anime, but experiencing it for myself left me stunned. Most of the girls were practically gushing over my looks while the guys shot me glares filled with malice—worse than those from strays back in the alley.

For a moment, I stood there, blank, until I caught sight of one petite girl with white hair and gold eyes. She looked pitiful as if she understood what I was going through.

Finally, glancing over to the teacher, I noticed him giving me a shrug with a sweat drop. "Veham-Kun, can you please take a seat by Miss Toujou?" He pointed straight at the white-haired girl, who wore a stoic expression. "Okay, Sensei."

As I made my way over, I could feel every pair of eyes—girls, guys—trained on me. Sitting at my desk, I tried to focus on the lesson and ignore their stares, reminding myself, 'Alright, Vanitas, try not to stand out too much, even if it feels too late.'

Koneko Toujou was gliding through her usual day. Still, her king had come to her in the clubroom yesterday, telling her and Kiba about the next potential peerage member—besides the pervert. She hoped this one would be different.

He was quite different from the rest; he seemed slightly spaced out despite being on top of the lessons. There were moments when he glanced at her with an unreadable expression as if he wanted to talk but didn't.

'I tried to sense something, even smell something, but there was nothing the moment he entered the room.' When he sat beside her, it felt like no one else was there. As class ended and the bell rang, the whole class descended on him like a swarm.

Vanitas looked more out of it, overwhelmed by the questions thrown at him. Koneko noted the slight panic in his eyes as 'claustrophobia' crossed her mind. She stood up and noticed the space around them warp before approaching him.

Pushing through the crowd, she took his hand and helped him escape the classroom. The silence that followed their exit quickly turned into chaos as the students realized the school mascot was holding the new transfer's hand.

As I sat at my desk, my thoughts drifted to the events of DxD—issues like fallen angels, Riser Phenex, the holy swords, and the Khaos Brigade. 'I need to get stronger. The Dream Sword is okay for now, but I will get slammed hard in this world.'

I couldn't just pull an army of nobodies out of thin air. I needed to level up and try out the dungeon feature of the system. It's time to see if I could get more nobodies on my side. 'System, what are the event requirements for the Twilight Thorn boss fight?'

{The player must be level 15.}

{The player must reach Floor 20 of the Dungeon.}

["Player can enter the portal at any time." "Time will warp; for every hour out there, it's three hours in the Dungeon."]

'Not that I'm going to be in there forever… maybe. But thanks for the info.'

"Items from Kingdom Hearts might be found from Heartless drops in the Dungeon. Got it memorized?"

Ignoring the system's input, I looked back at Koneko. I thought about saying something but decided against it as pressure built in my chest. I was about to look over at her again when the bell rang, reminding me of my growing hunger since arriving.

Just as I was about to get up, a swarm of students surrounded me, trapping me in place. Panic washed over me as I contemplated using the Dusk to push them aside.

Before I could act, Koneko cut through the crowd, frowning. She took my hand and led me out of the classroom, saying, "Follow," as she guided me down the hallway to the lunchroom. I appreciated her help; I didn't want to be violent with the others.

With a slight smirk, I quipped, "You don't need to hold my hand anymore to lead me." She froze, turning around to glare at me. Her gold eyes met mine with a hint of a blush on her cheeks. "Pervert," she said, walking away and leaving me a bit stunned by her reaction to my teasing.

After lunch, which was quiet but alright, I had secretly bought some treats for Koneko, knowing she had a sweet tooth. As we walked around the school, she showed me all the club locations—except for the Occult Research Club.

'Most likely saving it for last,' I thought as we approached the kendo club. Joining them seemed essential; my sword skills were comparable to Kid Sora's, which was decent compared to someone like Roxas.

But my thoughts were interrupted when I spotted three guys peeking through a small window—' Those same motherfuckers from this morning.'

I glanced at Koneko and noticed her expression darken. Without hesitation, I summoned a Dusk at the other end of the hallway, posing as one of our classmates. She walked past the perverted trio without them noticing and screeched.

Issei Hyoudou, startled and too focused on keeping his two low-life buddies in check, overlooked the Dusk. The resulting clumsiness made both boys tumble on top of him, creating a cacophony of noise. Koneko and I watched in amusement, like observing a cartoon.

Soon after, the entire kendo club emerged, anger radiating as they spotted the trio. The whole club chased after them with their bamboo swords, and I couldn't help but giggle a little. Koneko stared at Issei with a deadpan expression, thinking, 'Rias wants this pervert in the peerage.'

While the distraction ensued, the Dusk was dispelled, and we moved on as if that cliché never happened. Looking out at the building in the distance,

I spotted it—the Occult Research Club building. Peering up at the window, I caught sight of her: Rias Gremory. Her red hair framed her confident smile, and the glint in her blue eyes sparked curiosity.

Why was she interested in a nobody?
