As Vanitas stepped out of his apartment, he took a moment to soak in Kuoh's vibrant, everyday life. Dressed casually in a crisp white T-shirt and comfortable black jeans, he observed the bustling scene around him—people strolling leisurely, friends chatting over meals at quaint restaurants, and others enjoying the lively atmosphere of maid cafes.
While making his way through the streets, he caught sight of a tall man in his twenties with striking features—jet-black hair accented by golden bangs and a goatee—who cast a curious glance his way.
Vanitas felt a flicker of self-consciousness and muttered to himself, "Do I really stand out that much?" A quick scratch of his silver hair pulled him back to reality as he recognized the man: it was Azazel.
A wave of panic surged through him, but he took a deep breath, steadying himself. "Just keep moving," he resolved. "There's a delightful, sweet shop I've been meaning to try, so let's forget about that for now."
Turning a corner, he suddenly felt a jolt as someone collided with him, sending them both sprawling to the ground. Looking down, he saw a stunning young nun, her long, flowing blonde hair contrasting beautifully with her dark teal habit accented in light blue, her veil framing her face delicately.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with concern as she reached out a hand to him. Without hesitation, Vanitas took her hand, thoughts racing through his mind: 'While I may strive to be the Master over Nothing, helping others gives my life meaning.'
"Thank you so much! This is the second time I've dropped my laundry today," she said, her smile illuminating her face. "No problem! I love meeting new people," he replied, his voice trailing off as he became captivated by her sparkling emerald eyes, which shone with a hint of shyness.
"I'm Asia Argento," she introduced herself, a charming blush spreading across her cheeks.
"I'm Vanitas," he responded, still entranced by her infectious warmth. As they worked together to gather her scattered clothes, she mentioned her friend Issei, piquing Vanitas's curiosity. "I might have lost track of time having fun with him," she added, a hint of playful regret in her voice.
"Why don't we turn this day into something truly memorable? I know the perfect place for ice cream," he suggested enthusiastically.
Without skipping a beat, Asia's eyes lit up, and she nodded eagerly, trusting him as she followed him into a Dark tunnel.
"What an intriguing person I've met," she mused, sensing an enigmatic aura around him that felt almost ethereal without any magical presence. Emerging from the Dark tunnel, Asia gasped in delight at the astonishing transformation of her surroundings.
"It feels like we've stepped into a completely different world!" Her joy was momentarily overshadowed by a wave of anxiety as she recalled her duties at the church. However, Vanitas reassured her with a warm smile, "Twilight Town is an extraordinary place, bathed in the glow of an eternal sunset. Here, time stands beautifully still."
"Worlds?" she echoed, curious at his words.
With a gentle touch, he grasped her hand, coaxing her forward. "Don't worry; I promise we'll get you back on time. Let's make the most of this adventure!" Her look of concern transformed into awe, and soon, a bright smile spread across her face, a faint blush bringing warmth to her cheeks.
As they wandered into the lively market district, Asia felt an irresistible surge of joy. "Everyone is so friendly!" she exclaimed, her enthusiasm bubbling over as if she had just discovered a treasure. Vanitas chuckled, enjoying the infectious atmosphere that surrounded them.
"Are you ready to try Twilight Town's exclusive sea salt ice cream? I know just the place—if you're brave enough to tackle some heights," he teased playfully. She feigned a pout, retorting, "I am not afraid!"
They approached the ice cream stand, where a few kids were gathered, happily chatting about their summer plans while savoring their treats.
Their delightful trolley ride led them to the foot of the clock tower, where they settled in to relish their ice cream. However, Asia was utterly entranced by the breathtaking view of the endless sunset.
"Don't let your ice cream melt!" Vanitas chuckled, watching her scramble to take small bites before it dripped away.
"I'm genuinely grateful for this time we're spending together, Asia. Your spirit shines so vibrantly," he said sincerely.
"I couldn't be happier to have met a friend like you, Vanitas," she replied, her smile radiating warmth. Together, they savored the moment, embracing the bliss of each other's company before making their way back through the tunnel.
At the stairs leading back to the church, Vanitas paused to present her with a star-shaped fruit glistening with promise.
"This is a special gift from the market. Legend has it that if two people share one, their destinies intertwine, ensuring they stay a part of each other's lives."
As Asia held the fruit, tears of gratitude welled in her eyes, touched by his thoughtful gesture. "Thank you so much, Vanitas," she whispered, her heart full.
Waving goodbye, we alternate ways, still feeling the connection of the fruit. Face falling, knowing what happens next, he won't let her lose her life.
"I won't let this Princess of Heart Die."
