Chapter 11 - "11: Melba’s Escape—Making a Quick Getaway"

Everyone at the scene was stunned.

"There's a second giant!" Shinjoh on the Victory Swallow shouted in surprise.

"And that second giant took down Golzan with just one move! So strong!" Horii exclaimed in disbelief.

The first red Ultraman had been fighting for so long and almost got hammered, yet this new Ultraman just crushed Golzan instantly.

For a moment, everyone was utterly shocked.

"Who are you?!" Daigo, who had transformed into the red Ultraman, was equally stunned.

The other statue was right behind him, so where did this new giant come from?

If this new giant also came from the pyramid, then the only person who could have transformed into a giant before him was…

Thinking back to what the Chief had said to him over the comms before his transformation, Daigo's mind clicked into place.

Could this giant be Chief Su Mo?!

Seeing Daigo's expression, Su Mo immediately realized that Daigo had figured out his identity.

That was exactly as he expected.

After all, Su Mo was the only one who had reached the pyramid before Daigo.

Unless Su Mo never transformed, it was only a matter of time before Daigo found out that the Ultraman Tiga was Su Mo's transformation.

Better to reveal himself early and seize the initiative.

As a senior officer and predecessor of the Victory Team, and now a fellow giant-transforming veteran, Daigo would only trust and obey him more.

Besides, Su Mo had no dark ambitions to conquer or destroy the world.

Gaining another ally and assistant was actually a good thing.

Many of the insignificant monsters wouldn't require his personal attention anymore.

And with an extra hand, when the time came to face the final world-ending boss, Gatanothor, Su Mo would have more confidence.

He gestured for Daigo to calm down.

Su Mo lifted his head and looked toward Melba circling in the sky.

"…"

Melba, who had been circling above, preparing to gang up with Golzan and crush the Ultraman, instantly realized the situation had flipped.

Golzan was just wiped out in one hit, and now the enemy had an extra Ultraman.

One monster facing two Ultramen?

That was unreasonable.

So—

"Riii—!"

Melba took off with the wind, preparing to make a run for it.

Time to bail!

There was no way they could win this fight.

But Su Mo wasn't about to let Melba escape.

Not to mention—

"Running away and leaving your back exposed to the enemy—that's just foolish!" he scoffed silently.

Without hesitation, Su Mo crossed his arms and slowly began charging up his energy.

Once ready, he placed both hands on his left waist, channeling energy.

"Whoosh—!"

The Lambert Light bullet shot out like an arrow toward the sky.

Though this skill was slightly weaker than the Zeperion beam, it was incredibly fast and had a high hit rate.

Perfect for dealing with fragile enemies like Melba.

In just a breath's time, the Lampert Light Bomb caught up to Melba and struck hard.

"Boom—!"

The monster that had once torn open the skies… was now completely obliterated, reduced to nothing more than scattered fragments.

In just a matter of seconds after his dramatic arrival, the second giant had taken down not one, but two powerful monsters—back-to-back.

After delivering such a jaw-dropping display of power, the two giants exchanged a glance and gave a silent nod to each other.

Then, crouching slightly, they both leapt high into the air—soaring out of sight. From the looks of it, they were leaving Earth.

Only after the giants had vanished into the skies did the members of the Victory Team finally let out a collective breath of relief. It felt like they had just witnessed a battle pulled straight from myth.

Meanwhile, at the TPC Far East Headquarters—the offshore command base—Captain Megumi Iruma was watching the giants' departure on the main screen. Her face had gone a little pale as she held her head in her hand.

"Su Mo…"

Why… why did it have to be Su Mo and Daigo's plane that went down?

The rest of the Victory Team members looked somber at her words.

"Chief Su… and Daigo…"

Just as the weight of grief began to settle in, a familiar voice suddenly crackled through the open team comms channel inside their helmets.

"This is Su Mo. Daigo and I are on the mountaintop. Come pick us up!"

For a moment, everyone blinked in disbelief. Then, elation erupted.

"Ohhh! The Chief is alive!"

"That's amazing!"

"I knew it! Someone like the Chief must be blessed with incredible luck!"

"…Right, and Daigo too."

Hearing that last line, Daigo couldn't help but feel like coughing up blood.

Sure, it made sense that everyone respected and admired the Chief—but what did they mean by "and Daigo too"? Were they treating him like an afterthought?

…Well, maybe they had a point.

Thinking back to his terrible performance after transforming into a giant, Daigo couldn't help but cover his face in embarrassment.

He had gotten completely thrashed by the monster. Honestly, he had been pretty useless.

"Let's go," Su Mo said with a chuckle, patting Daigo on the shoulder.

"We'll talk about the giant stuff later. But once we're back, I think it's time for you to start some special training."

"Yes, sir!"

Daigo immediately responded to the order without hesitation.

Whether it was as a fellow member of the Victory Team, or as a fellow giant warrior, Su Mo was clearly far beyond him.

So, naturally, Daigo was more than willing to follow his lead.

Before long, a vehicle arrived to retrieve them, and soon the two were safely back at the Victory Team's base.

After giving Captain Iruma—who had been worried sick—a bit of reassurance and comfort, Su Mo returned to his own office.

Then, with a simple thought—

He returned to the Mist Realm.
