Chapter 6 - THROW ROCK

Later, when I held onto my temper. I was sent away like an obedient dog, and the boy came with me.

He hid in my embrace, trembling. His body shakes with fear, and he keeps his head underneath my clothes. I had to keep my hands around him to keep him calm.

I wanted to ask the prince to give the boy some blood to help cure his injuries, but when I asked, the prince looked at me like an insolent thing that doesn't know its place.

Looking at the silver-haired prince's face, who killed my only best friend, made me clench my hands, and I vowed to myself I would get revenge, even if it meant I had to die in the process.

I won't let a monster go, even if he's a powerful one.

When I and the boy were shoved back into the cage along with many people stuck in here. Each of us had no decent clothes or food, and most of us starved and stayed cold the entire time.

The weather outside turned cold when we traveled for a long time, and it was getting darker. The roads were getting bumpy along the way, and it made my butt sore.

Kaden laid his head on my lap, and I ran my fingers through his hair. The boy was silent the entire time, and he closed his eyes, and his body was motionless.

I was getting worried about the boy. He was so small, and his body was filled with injuries and warm, like feverish. I could feel sweat forming on his head and underneath his hair.

The boy shakes, and he keeps mumbling something under his breath. I lowered my head to hear what he was saying.

"Mom... Mom... Mom..."

Again, my heart aches for the boy. I wonder where his mother was. It's possible she was killed like everyone else back in the underground tunnels.

When the roads became smoother, no longer shaking, I lifted my head up, and I saw a big city with brilliant lights. It didn't awe me since I was worried sick about the boy. I looked at the boy, and I wanted to call for someone for help.

I turned around and only saw vampires. Smug ones, and I knew they wouldn't be sympathetic towards the human child. They only see the humans as lowlifes, someone not worth saving.

But I had to try, even if I got beaten in the process.

That's the price for caring for someone. Once I care for someone, I can't let them go.

I banged on the cage and I shouted loud, "Hey, he's dying! He needs some medicine! Badly! Please, help me!"

They didn't turn toward me. They acted like they didn't hear me. They only rode on the horses and continued facing forward, their eyes focused ahead with expressionless faces.

They didn't care about my call, and I clenched my hands in anger, and I needed to do something. Even if it's dangerous.

I looked down at the boy again, and his lips were turning purple and his skin becoming pale. His body trembled with cold, and I sighed to myself with my heart heavy.

I looked down around the surroundings, trying to come up with a plan. Anything that would work in my favor. Please, let me find some things.

My hands ran over the hard floor, and only grass, dirt, and I clenched my hands around a hard object, but it was small.

I looked down, and it was a rock as hard as stone.

I lifted my lips into a determined smile, and I got closer to the moving cage, and I threw it with all my might at the vampire's head!

The rock flew fast like a shooting star, and it completed what I hoped to accomplish. It hit the target, and the vampire had grunted from the pain in his head, and the vampire turned to me with fury in his eyes.

Cold fury.

The vampire pulled the horse to a stop, and he said in a low, deadly voice, "You'll pay for that."

I smirked a smug smile despite my heart pounding like a madman. "I can't wait to see to that, bloodsucker."

The vampire's hands trembled, clasping the rope so tightly it caused the horse to neigh in pain. The horse tapped its hoof on the ground, and it started to buck its back like it went crazy all of a sudden.

Caught off guard, the vampire had fallen off its back. He fell to the side with a hard thud, and the vampire groaned in immense pain, and his face screamed of agony.

I was surprised by the recent event, but I was pleased. Due to that, the carriage was pulled to the stop due to that. The other horses and the riders had to pull a stop, and the curtains opened, and a white hand appeared.

"What happened?"

I clenched my hands, and my anger rose when the person responsible for all of this acted so nonchalant and carefree while the poor boy, Kaden, was suffering and possibly dying.

I closed my eyes and told myself that getting angry won't solve anything.

I heard one of the horses pulled closer to the prince, and he said in a low, respectful voice, but a tinge of fear was present, "My prince, one of the soldiers in the back had fallen off its horse."

"Why did he fall off?"

When I heard that, my heart started pounding, and I was afraid I would be discovered due to my actions. I waited with anticipation and dread in my chest, beating like a drum, and the soldier replied in a low, fearful voice, "I'm not certain, my prince. But the horse was acting up. Maybe the horse was getting tired because it traveled a long distance."

I exhaled deeply, and then a huge relief came out of me.

"We can take a break."

The soldier said with a mix of gratitude and fear, "Thank you, my prince."

"Let's go to a hotel, then we'll continue in the morning."

The prince declared in a calm voice, and it surprised me because I didn't think the prince would slow down for anyone, not even for a horse.

But it doesn't matter. I can use it to my advantage. When everyone's guard is down, I can use it to escape and take Kaden to a doctor in the city.
