Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: I'm Absolutely, Completely, and Totally Sure!

Lu Qin rubbed her arm, turned around, and glared at the departing ambulance, cursing loudly.

"Forget it, the ambulance must be in a hurry to save someone," Wang Xu comforted her, seeing that she wasn't injured.

"Hmph! So ambulances are miracle workers now? Other people's lives matter, but mine doesn't? No way—I need to chase them down and get an explanation. I'm not going to eat this loss for nothing!"

Lu Qin had a fiery temper. She couldn't stand being wronged without a fight. Patting the dust off herself, she jumped back on her motorcycle and gave chase.

"Hey, hey, hey! Let it go! What are you chasing an ambulance for?" Wang Xu tried to hold her back.

"You coward! You're scared to go—I'll go myself!"

Lu Qin's temper wasn't something that could be talked down. She threw off Wang Xu's hand without hesitation.

"You're impossible... I didn't ask to come with you, you short-fused maniac!" Wang Xu muttered helplessly as he climbed onto his electric scooter. He couldn't let her go off on her own at this hour—it would be irresponsible.

Put-put-put-put...

With a twist of the throttle, Lu Qin shot off in pursuit of the ambulance.

As Wang Xu sat on the back, he couldn't help but think, Who would dare marry a woman like this? With her temper, you'd either be beaten to death or driven insane!

Lu Qin's motorcycle was faster than a regular car, and Wang Xu's electric scooter was nimble and immune to traffic jams. Incredibly, they actually caught up with the ambulance. But what they didn't expect was that as soon as they got close—

BANG!

The ambulance collided head-on with a large truck. It rolled over several times, finally coming to a halt upside-down, its four wheels in the air.

"Ah! Help! Someone, please! Help us!"

A woman's panicked scream rang out from inside the wrecked ambulance.

"Hmph, that's what you get for speeding. Serves you right," Lu Qin muttered under her breath after the initial shock passed.

Wait... why does that voice sound familiar?

Wang Xu's eyelid twitched. That voice... it couldn't be...

Without another word, he sprinted toward the crash site.

"Lu Qin?!"

Sure enough, the woman screaming from inside the ambulance was Lu Qin—the daughter of his former prison cellmate, Lu Jie.

It turned out the person in need of saving wasn't Lu Qin herself, but an elderly man lying beside her.

"Wang Xu?! Wang Xu, please help! My grandpa had a heart attack and then... and now this..." Lu Qin was in complete panic, sobbing uncontrollably. Seeing Wang Xu was like seeing a lifeline.

Wang Xu immediately checked the old man's pulse—his heartbeat and breathing were extremely faint. A heart attack combined with trauma... without immediate treatment, the man could die at any moment.

Unfortunately, the medical staff in the ambulance had been injured themselves and couldn't help.

This was no time to hesitate. Wang Xu gathered what little spiritual energy he had stored in his dantian, using needleless acupoint techniques to unblock the old man's heart meridian. It wasn't a permanent solution, but it could keep him alive for now.

After a few precise strikes on the man's left arm, the old man's complexion improved—his purplish lips turned red again, and his breathing became slightly easier.

Once the emergency was temporarily under control, Wang Xu hailed a taxi and helped Lu Qin rush her grandfather to the hospital.

But without proper tools—silver needles, herbs, and medical instruments—it would be very difficult for Wang Xu to truly stabilize the man's condition.

Lu Qin noticed that Wang Xu seemed to know the patient's family. She didn't say much and simply rode her electric scooter back home.

"Lu Qin, don't worry too much. Your grandfather's heart isn't in immediate danger. I checked—his injuries didn't hit any vital spots. As long as he receives proper treatment in time, he should be fine."

Outside the emergency room at the county hospital, Wang Xu tried to comfort a visibly anxious Lu Qin.

He could tell she was deeply attached to her grandfather.

"Mm... thank goodness you were there, Wang Xu. Otherwise, my grandpa..."

"I'm just doing what I can. Once his condition stabilizes, I'll help him recover fully," Wang Xu said firmly.

"You're really kind, Wang Xu, I—"

"Who is the patient's family member? The patient is dying—come in for the final goodbye!"A nurse suddenly burst out of the emergency room, shouting.

"What?! Grandpa!!"Lu Qin nearly jumped out of her skin and dashed inside, crying loudly.

Dying? How could that be?

Wang Xu was shocked. Just moments ago, he had used his energy and acupoint techniques to stabilize the old man. It should have worked.

He had used a non-invasive substitute for acupuncture, which, although less effective, was still enough to alleviate an acute heart attack. More importantly, he had used his precious spiritual energy to clear the blockage in the old man's artery.

There was no reason the old man should be dying.

Wang Xu entered the emergency room, and sure enough—the old man lay still on the hospital bed, seemingly lifeless.

"Grandpa! Grandpa! Wake up…!"Lu Qin sobbed as she threw herself over his body.

All the monitors at the bedside showed no signs of life.

"I'm sorry for your loss."A white-haired doctor patted Lu Qin on the shoulder, solemnly confirming the death.

"He's not dead."

In the hushed emergency room, Wang Xu's words rang out, completely out of place amid the grief.

Everyone looked at him.

He had quietly approached the bed and was now checking the old man's pulse. The doctors and nurses assumed he was a relative, so they hadn't stopped him.

Wang Xu could feel the man's pulse—extremely faint, yes, but still present. His life hadn't completely left him.

These doctors couldn't detect that tiny sliver of life, nor could the machines.

But Wang Xu could.

His mysterious cultivation technique had honed his senses far beyond that of any ordinary human. His pulse diagnosis skills were more precise than even the most advanced medical equipment.

He was 100% certain—the old man was still alive.

As for what had caused his sudden deterioration, Wang Xu wasn't yet sure.

Everyone stared at him in stunned silence.

"Brother, I know this is hard to accept, but no one comes back from the dead,"a young male assistant with glasses said sympathetically, assuming Wang Xu was just a grieving family member in denial.

"I'm not a family member. But this old man isn't dead."Wang Xu straightened up and looked at the attending doctor.

"What? You're not family? Then what are you doing here?"a short female nurse snapped.

"I'm a friend of Lu Qin," Wang Xu replied calmly.

"You just said what? That he's not dead? Are you a doctor or are we the doctors here? Don't interfere with our work!"

Now that they knew he wasn't family, the nurse's attitude immediately turned cold.

After all, the patient had just been pronounced dead, and here was some random guy openly questioning their medical judgment.

"I said he's not dead, and I mean it! You can't save him—but I can! Just lend me a set of silver needles!"

Wang Xu was growing anxious. The old man was on the brink, and every second counted.

"You brat, are you here to cause trouble? Dr. Wang is an expert in both traditional and modern medicine! He's a legendary doctor in Jiangcheng! How dare you question Dr. Liu?"

The short assistant was now visibly irritated.
