Chapter 4 - 4

At that moment, when Old Madam Shao and Old Man Shao returned from work, they were starving and ready to eat lunch. They found that their eldest daughter-in-law and youngest son were both limping, and their pants seemed to be stained.

Another one had a swollen face like a pig's head, covered in tear streaks. As soon as they saw the couple coming back from work, they rushed over like they had found saviors.

"Waaah, Mom, I was beaten! Please, help me get revenge!"

Old Madam Shao looked at the eldest daughter-in-law, whose face looked like a pig's head after being beaten. She looked at her with disgust. So useless. She couldn't even win a fight. Old Madam Shao had never lost a fight in her life.

Then she turned and looked at her youngest son with concern. "Son, quickly tell Mom who beat you. I'll beat them to death!"

"Mom, it was Alexandria, that wicked woman! She also took all the food from the house!" He almost said that Alexandria nearly destroyed his little Jay. He was terrified.

"What? That wicked woman?" Old Madam Shao didn't quite believe it. That woman had always been timid and scared. How could she beat both of them like this?

"She's not dead?" They came back early today to collect Alexandria's body. They were planning to wrap her in a worn-out mat and bury her somewhere to save the trouble. Who would've thought she wasn't dead and even ransacked the house?

Old Madam Shao rushed into the kitchen. The pot was completely empty. Even her favorite cupboard had been smashed open. Nothing was left inside.

Old Madam Shao was so angry she almost fainted. She grabbed a shoulder pole and rushed toward Alexandria's room. Old Man Shao, the eldest son, and Jhian quickly followed. How did this woman change so much? Now she even dared to hit people? They had to teach her a lesson.

Bada wanted to warn her mother-in-law that Alexandria was incredibly strong now. Under Alexandria's pressure, she couldn't even resist. But before she could finish her sentence, they had already taken the poles and axes and rushed off. Her face hurt so much that she was grimacing, but she still followed them.

She didn't believe that the few of them working together couldn't handle one woman.

"Alexandria, you wicked thing! Get out here now! You stole everything from the house. No wonder your parents and husband all died. You're a bringer of bad luck! Give back the food you stole, or I'll beat you to death!"

Alexandria had just finished eating and was lying on the bed, ready to rest. Her body needed proper recovery. That was also why she hadn't left yet. The original owner had hit her head badly. She needed to eat well and heal.

She had just gotten into bed when she heard Old Madam Shao's loud yelling outside.

Heh, didn't Jay and Bada tell them she had already beaten them up?

They still dared to come knocking? They must have a death wish. But since they were already here, she would deal with them in one go, beat them until they learned their lesson. That way, she wouldn't have to deal with them again.

She casually grabbed a stick. It was actually the rolling pin she had taken from the kitchen earlier. It felt good in her hand, so she left it in the room, ready to use it instead of her hands, which would be too tiring.

Her hands were full of calluses, rough from years of washing clothes in cold water and being exposed to the cold. There was no mirror in this room. When she got married, her now-dead husband Christian had taken her to the supply store to buy a mirror. But before she could even enjoy it, Jhian snatched it away.

She could only say that everyone in this family, except her late husband Christian, was selfish and cruel. Beating them up didn't make her feel guilty at all.

Alexandria calmly got out of bed, grabbed the rolling pin, and walked out.

Old Madam Shao had thought Alexandria wasn't opening the door because she was scared. She was even discussing with Old Man Shao and the others whether they should break the door down. But suddenly, the door opened.

Alexandria appeared completely calm.

Old Madam Shao exploded, yelling, "You little tramp! Did you find another man now that my second son is dead? You don't respect me at all!"

Alexandria stayed calm, while Old Madam Shao looked like she had uncovered the truth. "You were born a Shao, and you'll die a Shao unless you pay us a hundred yuan for bride price!"

Alexandria sneered. This woman was so greedy. Her son had just died, and now she was thinking about selling her daughter-in-law again to get money. Was Christian even really her biological son?

Besides, when she married into the Shao family, she didn't even get a single yuan as bride price.

This whole family was rotten. The only decent one had been Christian. A good seed from a bad tree.

"What do you mean stealing? Don't you know how I got the wound on my head? Stop talking nonsense, what do you want?"

Alexandria looked at Old Madam Shao and the people behind her with disdain, as if they were ants.

"You stole food from our family, and you act like it's your right, you shameless woman!"

Old Madam Shao wanted to keep yelling, but Alexandria suddenly got close and lightly pushed her. Old Madam Shao immediately screamed like a pig being slaughtered, unable to say anything!

It hurt! It hurt so much! Could this person have become a demon woman?

Old Man Shao and Jay hadn't seen what happened clearly yet, but they saw Old Madam Shao jumping around in pain. The scene was really scary.

When Old Madam Shao couldn't speak, Old Man Shao started talking: "Alexandria, the food was stolen by you. Now that you came back with it, we won't argue anymore."

He spoke reasonably, so people might think he was fair. But Alexandria knew well that Old Man Shao was the worst in the family, full of bad intentions.

He never did bad things himself but always let Old Madam Shao, the fool, go first and look like the bad person. Actually, everything was his idea. That old man was very bad.

"I'm almost dying, sick and no one took me to the clinic to get my wound treated. You all want me dead, I know. Now I'm clear-headed. Instead of standing and dying, I'll do whatever I want. I worked as a servant in the Shao family for over a year, eating just watery porridge every meal. I'm starving. Isn't it right for me to take some food? If you want to argue, come on, see who is right!"

Old Man Shao didn't know what to say. Usually, Old Madam Shao would start making a scene here, acting crazy and wild, but she was crying loudly in pain now. So, Shao family's youngest sister Jhian took over.

"You're lucky to get food, and you want payment! You shameless woman."

Alexandria didn't waste words and slapped Jhian twice hard. Jhian was shocked and wanted to fight back, but Alexandria grabbed her arm and twisted it.

"Dad, it hurts so much, come save me!"

Jhian cried with tears and snot, no longer acting proud.

This Shao family youngest sister was no good either!

Old Man Shao and Christian then came to help Jhian. This time they were smarter and saw Alexandria was strong, so they each took a weapon ready to fight. But Alexandria didn't give them a chance and beat them badly. Who asked them to disturb her nap?

After beating them, she looked at the crying and screaming family members and coldly said, "If you bother me again, next time, I won't guarantee your heads will still be on your bodies. I've already died once, if you don't believe me, you can try."

This scared the Shao family. As the saying goes, the weak fear the strong, and the strong fear those who don't care about death.

Seeing Alexandria's reckless attitude, the Shao family was truly frightened. Maybe she died once and came back haunted by some evil spirit.

Otherwise, how could she have changed so much? Even several men couldn't beat her. Maybe they should secretly ask a shaman to check, but now it's the time to break old customs, and if others find out, they would be criticized!

Old Madam Shao didn't dare to ask for real help. She only thought about getting some black dog's blood to throw on that shameless woman to remove the evil.

After thinking, the family could only leave quietly. What could they do?

They really couldn't beat that shameless woman!

Back home, they were even more upset. All the food was gone, taken by that little shameless woman. Old Madam Shao went to neighbors to borrow some sweet potatoes to fill their hunger. In the afternoon, they had to get some rice; otherwise, they would starve at night.

Really, the anger was about to burst!

Alexandria didn't care about these things. Having a second chance at life, she naturally wanted to rest comfortably.
