In the year 200 AD, after 20 years of the apocalypse, Alexandria was leading a small team on a mission. The cold wind blew fiercely, but the team stayed still and hidden in the dark. Today, their mission was to steal something that had recently become very popular all over the Earth — the Wish Stone.
It was said that the Wish Stone could make any wish come true. You had to release your special power into the Wish Stone and fill it with energy. How much energy you needed depended on how big your wish was.
If the wish was hard to achieve, your power had to be very strong for it to work. If not, the stone would do nothing. When this treasure was first released, many groups fought to get it. Now, it was guarded heavily by soldiers because it was in the hands of someone unknown.
Alexandria was the number one on the Red List of the Silver Fox Assassin Organization. Normally, she didn't care about stealing missions like this. She thought the stories about the Wish Stone were nonsense and was surprised some people believed them.
If it were her wish, she would wish to go back to the days without zombies, living a good life with good food every day. She had watched many documentaries about the warm and peaceful days before the apocalypse.
How good would life be if the apocalypse never happened?
But the buyer offered a very high price. Lately, Alexandria felt tired of living on the edge all the time. She wanted to finish this job and then quit to live a normal life.
The Silver Fox Assassin Organization was full of experts. To survive in this apocalypse and become part of this assassin group meant you were elite. This time, Alexandria brought the best members of her team to try to succeed.
They crossed the land full of zombies and reached the house of the mysterious person. From outside, the house looked dark and scary, but after killing so many zombies, Alexandria and her team were not afraid.
Under Alexandria's secret signal, the team split into two groups and moved in two directions to attack from both sides. Before reaching the target point, they were ambushed many times. Luckily, Alexandria's team was well-trained but still suffered heavy losses.
After dealing with these troubles, the Silver Fox team leader pushed forward, broke through the last defense, and opened the door. Inside, no guards were seen. The Wish Stone lay quietly in the center. It looked like an ordinary stone, but many people chased after it.
Even at the last stage, the Silver Fox team did not relax. Careful and alert, they watched everything closely. Alexandria just took the Wish Stone in her hand.
Suddenly, many people appeared around and rushed straight toward the Silver Fox team!
It was the White Tiger Assassin Organization, their deadly enemy!
The owner of the house had hired many elites just to kill them.
The Silver Fox team had already suffered some losses earlier. Now, the White Tiger team pressed hard, killing until only Alexandria was left. The White Tiger leader smiled cruelly and made a strange sound.
"Alexandria, if you join me, I will spare your life."
Alexandria was famous for her looks in the apocalypse. Without her deadly skills, she probably wouldn't have survived a day with that face.
She laughed coldly, "Go to hell." Then she suddenly attacked the White Tiger leader with her strongest fire power.
Even though she was outnumbered, she wanted to avenge her brothers. But she quickly became overwhelmed.
When the White Tiger leader came at her for the last attack, Alexandria showed no fear. She exploded herself, killing herself and the whole White Tiger team in a firestorm!
The White Tiger leader never expected this move. Self-destruction was the worst way to die. In seconds, the whole building was a burning fire. No one survived.
Before dying, Alexandria tightly held the Wish Stone in her palm. "Can you really make wishes come true? If I get reborn next time, can I live a life without zombies?"
Suddenly, the Wish Stone in her hand shone brightly. The light was so strong that Alexandria closed her eyes and lost consciousness.
When she woke up again, she saw a broken, falling beam above her. She was lying straight on the ground, feeling a terrible headache. Touching the back of her head, she found it covered in blood.
She wanted to get up and see where she was. Could it be that she wasn't dead yet?
She had exploded herself! But she felt weak all over. Gathering all her strength, she struggled to get up from the ground. As soon as she stood, memories flooded her mind like a flood. The original owner's experiences played like scenes in a slideshow.
The original owner had fled from famine. Her parents died of hunger, and she couldn't live anymore. She escaped with other refugees. The original owner's mother-in-law was bad. Seeing that she looked pretty, she wanted to marry her to her son, who was a soldier, without paying a bride price.
The mother-in-law gave her food twice, and Alexandria stayed at their house without leaving. When Christian came home on leave, the two got married because of the mother-in-law's arrangement. They hadn't even spent their wedding night when Christian was called back for an urgent mission. Alexandria was left alone to suffer under Old Madam Shao.
At first, Madam Xu was not too harsh. Although Alexandria only ate some sweet potatoes and rough grain that hurt her throat, Christian sent his soldier allowance home every month. Even though Madam Xu kept it, the original owner could still get a little food.
But as Christian stayed in the army longer, Madam Xu became harsher to Alexandria. Alexandria had to do all the housework and wash all the clothes.
Sometimes, Madam Xu would scold and hit Alexandria. Alexandria was timid and shy but very hardworking. She just wanted to live quietly.
Recently, the army said Christian had been missing for two months and was likely dead in battle. Alexandria's position became even worse.
She only got one meal a day, and it was food even pigs wouldn't eat.
She quietly endured all the insults from the Shao family every day: "A wife who brings bad luck to her husband!"
"Unlucky woman who brings misfortune to her parents and husband."
"Lowly woman!"
Alexandria endured all of this.
The last straw was the youngest Shao son, Jay, who was Alexandria's little brother-in-law. When everyone was out working, only Alexandria and he were home. He tried to force her to sleep with him!
He knew his dead brother never slept with his cheap sister-in-law. That meant she was still pure.
At first, Jay was afraid. His brother was strict, and he was scared of him. But now that his brother was dead, he thought he could enjoy himself.
But Jay didn't expect that although Alexandria looked weak and didn't fight at home, she was very strong about this matter. When Jay tried to force her, she hit her head on a pillar because she didn't want to live anymore.
Jay was scared and ran away fast.
Alexandria just lay there with no one to save her and finally died.
Even though there was a big commotion, how could no one hear it in the yard?
Later, Madam Xu came in to make Alexandria work. Alexandria tried to ask for help, but the cruel Madam Xu didn't save her. Now that her second son was dead, it didn't matter how she treated Alexandria. There was one less mouth to feed.
Most importantly, Alexandria looked badly hurt. Going to the doctor would cost money. This cheap woman wasn't worth that much.
So the end-of-the-world top killer Alexandria, who had the same name as the original owner, came.
