Chapter 2 - Act I

"Pretty impressive for someone living all the way out here, you'd have the makings of a first class mage anywhere else. Do you have any interest in travel? Nothing crazy of course, just to the closest town North of here"

Unsurprisingly, Elyon's face lit up and the floating cups around here paused for just a split second before continuing on their various cleaning paths. She clearly wanted more than the simple life of an innkeeper, and perhaps he could give her the chance to experience a little more outside of this town.

"I'd love to! My parents should be able to run the place even with me gone, although I'll need to tell them that some adventurers are borrowing me"

The wording was…rather crude for Andy's taste, but he supposed it was better to be blunt about effectively running away from your home with two strangers.

"And uh, what about your comrade there on the floor? Are you sure he won't mind?"

"He chose to be the first one to pass out on this trip so that means I get to make the choices for the rest of it, tis our party's tradition. Besides, it'll only be for a few days or so of travel, so he shouldn't mind too much"

The comment about passing seemed to confuse Elyon for a few seconds before she just shrugged it off. These two had likely known each other for a great deal of time, and she had just barely met them. Trying to figure anything else out would just add more chaos to a mind already reeling from the offer to adventure. She simply nodded in acceptance of Andy's reasoning and decided to enjoy the break from her otherwise monotonous life.

"Sounds like we have yourself a deal miss Elyon, I'll see you here in the morning. Not too early though, our third member might need a few extra hours to sleep off the…coldness"

Both parties glanced over before Andy made his way over to said party member who was currently rolled onto the floor. It took only a few minutes and his friend was resting in a slightly better place. Eventually Andy followed his friend's lead, falling asleep as the newly founded group of three waited until the next day.

"Planning on running away from home? You're a few years late but you've finally got the spirit"

Elyon gave a small squeak and jumped a little as her mom spoke up. Apparently, she wasn't the only one who was good at sneaking up on people. Turning to look at her mother, Elyon just rolled her eyes and leaned on the counter.

"Well, I was sure you'd hear all of it anyways. Besides, we both know that I'm not actually doing too much to help"

"I never said I was against it. In fact, if you borrow a few things from back when me and your dad used to travel, you'll be well suited to leave as early as those two want to"

Her mom gave a small laugh, patting Elyon's head and appearing surprisingly cheerful for someone who was about to watch their daughter disappear into the sunset. Then again, a few of the people in the village loved to tell stories about the adventures her parents got up to before they ended up settling down in the town to run the inn. Perhaps it was just the blood in her veins, finally running down the path they had started. Rolling her eyes, Elyon stepped forward before wrapping her mom in a hug, launching a few of the empty cups behind her as one last little gesture of helping.

"Yeah, sure, you probably just can't wait to stick extra shifts on me when I get back to make up for all the lost time"

"Was it that obvious? Damn, here I thought I was being clever"
