A loud knocking ripped Elyon's eyes away from the door as she jumped to her feet, nearly falling over to open it up. There stood a rather amused Ange as he looked past her out at the window. In the brief moment that Elyon had been reading, the night had started to drape itself over the town, and the noises from the street had grown a great deal.
"Figured I'd invite you to the lamp lighting ceremony that kicks off the whole party. That is, unless you're too busy being trapped in your room"
Elyon glanced behind her at the book that had fallen onto the floor from where she had jumped out. She quickly stepped in between Ange and the book, shaking her head. She wasn't sure why, but it felt like if he got his hands on the book he might take it away. The bookseller's paranoia was probably just catching up to her. Turning back towards him, she gave a quick nod and smile.
"I'd love to go, just give me a second and I'll meet you downstairs?"
In response, he nodded before turning and walking away as she closed the door behind him. The story she was reading was a poor imitation of being a history book, no wonder it was right next to all those poorly titled smut stories.
Tossing the book back onto the desk, Elyon pulled her jacket back across her shoulders and made her way out. Although the feeling in her stomach of missing her own room remained, it was easier to ignore it if she was out and about. Arriving down below, she gave a small nod to Ange as the pair walked towards the door.
"Where's Andy?"
She only realized now that the last time she had seen him, they had been walking directly towards the local capitol building.
"Probably got stuck in some boring bureaucratic meeting. They love to drag us into them since we're ""technically""
Ange raised his fingers, mocking the words he was saying
"Technically under the crown"
Elyon raised her eyebrows with a confused expression. It was pretty clear that while Ange may love having drinking money, he really wasn't a fan of all the extra bells and whistles that came along with working in the transport business. Must have been a real pain in the ass for everyone involved if Andy was stuck there right before a festival.
Whatever was going on, her thoughts were washed away as soon as she stepped out into the alleyway. Where before the sound of the night had been a soft murmur from the wall, it now exploded into a full on chaotic scene. People slowly danced, moved, tumbled around each other in a steady flow towards what she could only assume was the city center. Before Elyon even had a chance to react she was being swept up in the growing tide of people. Although she couldn't exactly fight against it, it was a gentle flow of a crowd more set on partying and enjoying itself rather than any sort of real rush. Ange just gave her a quick thumbs up as if to tell her she'd be fine. She gave a soft groan before turning to follow the group. It was nice that Ange and Andy were letting her wander off on her own, but part of her wished she was with at least one or two people who she had met before.
