The buses were unusually quiet that morning.
Ren leaned back against the seat, his hood pulled over his head, eyes half-closed as he listened to the low chatter of his classmates.
Mina was laughing about something Kaminari said. Iida was reciting the USJ safety rules like a robot. Midoriya was nervously fidgeting. Everything was normal—on the surface.
But Ren knew better.
He watched the clouds overhead from the window. Thick and low. Like a warning.
His fingers lightly brushed over the ring on his necklace—his mother's ring.
Today's the day. The villains will arrive.
He inhaled deeply. Stay calm. Don't be a hero too early. Don't reveal too much.
But if anyone touched the people he cared about… he wouldn't hesitate.

USJ – Universal Simulation Joint
"Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint," Thirteen greeted them with a kind smile as the class poured into the dome.
Ren scanned the massive disaster facility. It was more impressive in person: fire zones, shipwreck simulations, collapsed buildings—every type of disaster you could think of.
"This facility is designed to prepare heroes for rescue operations," Thirteen continued. "Quirks are not just for battle. Remember, heroes save lives."
Ren's attention, however, was divided.
He glanced across the dome. Class 1-B had already arrived, grouped on the far side. Ibara Shiozaki stood among them, talking quietly with Kinoko and Itsuka.
Ibara noticed him.
Their eyes met. A brief moment—her solemn smile. He offered her a wink.
"Still flirting, Ren?" Jirou teased beside him, nudging his side.
Ren smirked, "I can't help it. Angels don't show up in disaster zones every day."
Jirou blushed and rolled her eyes, hiding her grin.
Then, suddenly… the air shifted.
Zzzt.
The lights flickered.
A strange hum buzzed through the space. Then, at the center of the USJ dome—a black, swirling portal began to twist open.
Ren's pupils narrowed. It begins.
Villains poured out.
Dozens. Maybe more.
Kurogiri's voice echoed across the dome, cold and metallic. "We are the League of Villains. And we've come to kill All Might."
The class stood frozen for half a second—then all hell broke loose.
Ren acted instantly, grabbing Jirou's wrist and pulling her back behind him as the villains surged forward.
"Stick with me," he said lowly. "We're not showing off today. We're surviving."
"But—"
"I know what I'm doing."
She hesitated—but nodded.
Aizawa and Thirteen moved to counter. Iida was ordered to run and get help. Villains began spreading across the simulated zones.
Then Kurogiri moved in.
Before Ren could react, the portal villain exploded in a swirl of shadows—and Ren was swallowed up.

Shipwreck Zone – Afloat
He hit the ocean surface hard, then resurfaced with a gasp. Around him, three villains on boats spotted him.
"Is that a student? Alone?"
"Poor kid—he's dead."
Ren smiled as he adjusted his gloves.
"I was hoping you'd say that."
He reached downward. The water under him surged. A whirlpool exploded upward, capsizing the boat nearest him and slamming two villains into debris.
The last villain tried to swim away.
Ren launched forward on a current, skating over the surface like a bullet and slamming his fist into the man's jaw, knocking him unconscious.
He floated for a second, heart calm.
Hydro Core is strongest here.
But then—
"Help!"
A panicked voice echoed across the zone.
Ren turned his head. On top of the shipwreck, two girls from Class 1-B were stranded—Ibara and Kinoko. A villain was climbing toward them with claws extended.
He launched off the surface without hesitation, forming a jet stream under his feet.
"Hold on!" he shouted.
"Ren?" Ibara blinked.
Kinoko screamed, backing away.
The villain lunged.
Ren surged in, lifted both hands—and the entire rain-filled deck erupted upward, forming a massive wave that crushed the villain midair.
He landed near the girls, chest heaving.
"Took you long enough," Ibara said softly.
"Had to make an entrance," he winked.
Kinoko clung to him. "T-Thank you…"
Ren offered her a smile, brushing a strand of wet hair behind her ear. "It's my job to save damsels in distress."
Ibara looked away, but a smile tugged at her lips.
Then she noticed something.
"…Your aura is different," she said. "It feels… alive."
Ren's smile faltered, just a bit.
He looked at his palms. Too much water absorbed from the ocean?
"It's nothing," he said, voice low.
Ren formed a platform of solid water under their feet and rode the current, guiding them toward the central plaza.
All around, he saw chaos. Students fighting. Villains laughing. Some students were down. Some were scattered.
No sign of Midoriya or Todoroki yet. They must be in other zones.
"Go find cover," he told Ibara and Kinoko once they reached a safe spot behind a rock wall. "Stick together."
"And you?" Ibara asked.
"I've got more people to rescue," he said.
Then added, with a grin, "But don't worry—I'll come to you again later."
She flushed. "You better."
He turned and ran, water forming steps beneath him.

Elsewhere – Landslide Zone
Momo and Mina were pinned under broken rocks, with a villain approaching from above.
"Such lovely prey," the man hissed, raising a jagged sword of stone.
Ren arrived in a burst of water, knocking the villain flying.
"Sorry," he said as he helped lift the rocks off Mina. "I'm the only one allowed to kill with charm."
"Ren!" Mina wrapped her arms around him. "I thought you were gone!"
"Flirting across zones is exhausting," he said, catching Momo's hand too. "But you two were worth the trip."
Momo rolled her eyes but smiled, cheeks pink.
"Where's Jirou?" she asked.
"Safe. For now."
