The artificial storm raged overhead, heavy rain pouring from the ceiling of the USJ dome. Thunder echoed faintly, part of the "rescue" simulation gone horribly real. Lightning illuminated the shattered landscape for brief seconds, revealing collapsed buildings, broken glass, and students fighting for survival.
Ren stood still for a moment, arms slack, letting the rain soak into his body.
He didn't mind it.
The storm wasn't real—but the water was. And to him, it was power.
He closed his eyes, breathing in as he absorbed the downpour. His body glowed subtly again, the aura forming around him faint but real. His stamina surged, bruises faded faster, and the fatigue threatening his limbs melted away like sugar in boiling water.
From behind him, Jirou and Momo caught up, both panting.
"That storm's a pain," Jirou muttered.
"Pain?" Ren smirked. "It's a gift."
He turned to the direction of the shipwreck zone. "Let's move. Ibara and Kinoko are there. If they're hurt—"
"We'll find them," Momo assured. She placed a hand on his shoulder. "Together."

Shipwreck Zone
Waves crashed against artificial rocks, foam spraying into the air. The area was designed to simulate an oceanic disaster, with large fake ships and half-sunken cargo containers. Ren's group moved quickly across the unstable platforms.
Then he heard it.
A scream.
"IBARA!" Ren shouted, breaking into a sprint.
They found her cornered by two villains. One had boiling breath—steam hissed from his mouth as he stepped forward. The other controlled rope-like hair, attempting to bind her movements.
Ibara looked battered, her vines shielding her barely holding up. Kinoko was collapsed nearby, breathing but unconscious.
"Back off my girl," Ren growled.
The villains turned, confused. "Your what?"
He didn't wait.
With a stomp, he yanked water from the ocean below—thin tendrils shooting upward like spears. He directed one at the steam villain's face and another to coil around the other's legs.
Steam hissed violently as the water hit the villain's mouth, burning him internally. The man screamed, clutching his throat.
Ren moved like a blur. He jumped forward, sliding on water across the metal deck, and absorbed moisture directly from the villain's skin.
The man's body stiffened, weakness hitting him instantly. The momentary contact gave Ren a surge of energy—and with it, control over temperature.
For a brief moment, his hands grew colder.
He froze the water coating the second villain's legs, trapping him. Then Jirou struck from behind, blasting his ears with soundwaves. Momo used a captured pipe to knock him out.
It was over in seconds.
Ren knelt beside Ibara, helping her sit up. "You okay?"
She blinked slowly, clearly shaken. "I… I prayed. And you came."
He chuckled softly. "Guess I'm your divine water spirit."
"Blasphemy," she whispered—but her smile betrayed her gratitude.
Ren gently wiped blood from her cheek and leaned closer. "Still, I'd come running for you. Every time."
She stared at him, unsure whether to blush or scold. "Why do you flirt in moments like this?"
"Because I don't know how else to process things that could've gone wrong."
He helped her stand as Jirou checked Kinoko's pulse. "She's okay. Just passed out."
"Let's move," Ren said, his voice firmer now. "We get them to safety, then head to the plaza. Shigaraki and that Nomu thing are still out there."
Momo frowned. "You sound like you know more than you should."
Ren smiled faintly but didn't answer.

Back at the Plaza
When the group returned with Ibara and Kinoko, Ren quickly formed a defensive circle of water around them—a swirling shield of moisture that deflected minor attacks and hid them from sight.
They now had seven students gathered.
"It's not enough," Ren muttered to himself. "We're still scattered."
But even as he spoke, he felt it—a strange shift in the air.
His eyes darted toward the central zone.
"Something big's coming."

Meanwhile – Central Zone
A portal opened.
Tomura Shigaraki stepped through, scratching his neck with twitchy fingers.
Beside him, the hulking Nomustanding. Its black flesh rippled with power.
"They're still scattered," Shigaraki muttered. "That brat with the water quirk… he's interesting."
Kurogiri nodded. "Shall we proceed?"
"Let's break them all."
Ren's eyes narrowed.
"Girls. Stay here. Guard Kinoko. I'm going to find Aizawa."
Momo protested. "You can't go alone!"
He turned, eyes calm but filled with something deeper—determination, pain, and a storm of emotions he never let show.
"I have to. He saved us. I'm going to return the favor."
He leaned in and kissed Ibara's forehead. "Stay safe. Pray for me again."
Then to Jirou, he gave a quick wink. "Play my theme song when I return."
And to Momo, he whispered, "You're smarter than me—don't die."
Before they could argue, Ren launched himself forward, riding a wave through the rain, heading toward the storm's eye.
He was no longer just protecting his classmates.
He was making a stand.
