Chapter 6 - A Family of Villains (2)

"I hate my three brothers!"

Ji Yunhe woke up to the childish voice of a 6-year-old little girl. The girl was wearing a knee-length white summer dress, long dark hair knotted into two flowing braids as her large pristine grape-like eyes swirled with irreconcilable resentment.

The girl's familiar features told her of an irrefutable fact – she must be the former Mo's pampered princess, Mo Xiangyun.

Little Mo Xiangyun puffed out her cheeks and stomped her feet against the white space beneath them, before she turned around and sprinted off to somewhere unknown, the hem of her dress fluttering with the wind.

Ji Yunhe chased after her and soon arrived in a garden of flowers. There, standing in the middle of the ocean of colours was an adult Mo Xiangyun, smiling so vixenly as she tugged at Mo Xinhuai's clothes.

"Brother, I hate that bitch Xu Nian. You will help me, right? Afterall, I'm your beloved Yunyun."

Mo Xiangyun coquettishly swung Mo Xinhuai's clothes left and right. The ingenuous Third Brother's heart melted in that instant and without any further thought, he agreed to her request.

Since that day, Mo Xinhuai actively troubled a pure-looking girl alongside Mo Xiangyun. Ji Yunhe looked at the sobbing girl sprawled on the soily ground, begging for the two bullies to let her off.

So, was this soft and weak girl supposed to be the female lead of this world? This girl named Xu Nian?

Although they enrolled in the same academy, Ji Yunhe didn't know much about this Xu Nian, unlike the widely infamous Mo Xiangyun whose misdeeds had long spread wide like wildfire that never died out.

With the martial artist prodigy Mo Xinhuai taking the lead, no one dared to defend Xu Nian except for one—the computer genius as well as the Academy's number one school hunk Li Mubai, who happened to be Mo Xiangyun's fiancé.

Li Mubai's action was akin to a slap to Mo Xiangyun's proud face.

"Brother Mubai, how could you betray me like that when I love you this much?"

Mo Xiangyun cried out tears and blood, accusing him of infidelity. The next day, she was spotted joining arms with the computer genius from the next class, Ning Xiaoran.

As the rightful fiancé, Li Mubai was helpless when it came to Mo Xiangyun. This happened because to deal with Mo Xiangyun, he would have to first deal with her three overbearing brothers.

Fortunately, Mo Xiangyun's unscrupulous and unruly days didn't last for long. For the sake of clearing the female lead Xu Nian's name, Ning Xiaoran betrayed her and exposed her misdeeds to the media, nearly causing Mo Xiangyun to be expelled from school.

The villainous Mo Xiangyun didn't take this matter lying down. She robbed back everything that she had given to Ning Xiaoran despite knowing that her action might cost him a life – his sister's life.

And when the time came for his sister's life to be saved, Ning Xiaoran happened to be met with Mo Xiangyun's genius surgeon Second Brother Mo Yuning, the despicable doctor who favors the rich and looks down on the poor.

Mo Yuning disdainfully examined the dirt-poor Ning Xiaoran who had blocked his path from head to toe, his voice cold and unfeeling.

"Do you have money? If not, pack your bags then scram!"

Ning Xiaoran was roughly cast aside by the other medics. As Mo Yuning and his team walked past him, Ning Xiaoran heard him grumble under his breath.

"Dirt-poor bugs crawling to such a big hospital every now and then. Do they take the hospital for a charity? Disgusting little pricks."

Ning Xiaoran's coarse fingers curled into fists, his shoulders trembling nonstop as tears spilled down his reddened eyes. His little sister died that day, having missed the best time for treatment.

Mo Xiangyun no longer saw Ning Xiaoran in the Academy. It was as if he had been swallowed by Earth.

In the following years, Mo Xiangyun continued to rampage around as if the Academy was the backyard of her house, the Mo family thriving strong in their wretched ways with the lawless big brother striking hard with his money laundering until 4 years later, disaster struck them like a tsunami.

The Big Brother Mo Xingchen's misdeeds were discovered and he was brought behind the bars. The Second Brother was accused of illegal practices and had his medical license revoked and the Third Brother, after coming into conflict with another influential martial artist, broke an arm from the collision and had his reputation ruined, forever banned from both national and international contests.

In one day, the once prestigious and flourishing Mo family crumbled into dust. Only Mo Xiangyun knew exactly the reason behind their fall.

That day when Mo Xiangyun came to the prison to visit the weary and unkempt Mo Xingchen, Ji Yunhe finally realized what the oldest brother looked like.

If Mo Yuning was an untouchable jade beauty one could only lament from afar and Mo Xinhuai was like that one radiant sun that melted the heart of young girls upon one glance, Mo Xingchen's charm lay in the fact that he resembled a wild grassroot sprouting out of a pile of rotting cow dung.

He was greasy and unclean, full of petty tricks and valued shining golds more than his life – a vulgar person all in all and yet, till the end, it was exactly this hard-working and unsightly man, who had single-handedly raised his three siblings, who shone the brightest.

Such was the kind of person Mo Xingchen was, a truly admirable person. However, Mo Xiangyun failed to see all that.

"Xiangyun, I'm sorry. Big Brother no longer has the ability to protect you so please, lay low from now on and live well."

Even in his lowest point, Mo Xingchen still had his sister and his two brothers as his best interest and yet, Mo Xiangyun merely sat there with her arms and legs crossed, the disdain and disregard in her eyes impossible to be unseen.

After Mo Xiangyun left the prison, she crossed the busy street and arrived before a tall and lean man finding shelter beneath a large tree.

This man was none other than Ning Xiaoran, who had reappeared after 4 years of complete oblivion.

She shot him a bewitching smile, the emotion in her eyes difficult to decipher, "You must've been waiting for a long time, right?"

Ning Xiaoran didn't answer her and simply went to fetch his car, Mo Xiangyun following after him without a word.

Ji Yunhe couldn't understand her motives. Despite knowing that she was merely an onlooker in this so-called world of a novel, she called out to Mo Xiangyun on top of her lungs.

Surprisingly, Mo Xiangyun halted her footsteps and turned around, looking right at her with a smile that wasn't quite like a smile.

"Mo Xiangyun, is this what you want?"

Mo Xiangyun didn't answer her and instead asked Ji Yunhe in return.

"Ji Yunhe, are you that cheap?"

Ji Yunhe's heart skipped a beat. She understood what Mo Xiangyun had meant.

This family that the latter didn't want. Was she going to pick up the trash that she had thrown away and cherish them like a scavenger would?

Ji Yunhe's fist tightened. In her eyes, Mo Xiangyun's face slowly integrated with the disgusting face of Ji Manman. Afterall, they were both the same kind of venomous person – cold and vicious, an ingrate that only knew how to make use of someone else's kindness.

"Fine. This family that loves you so much, the family that you don't want. I, Ji Yunhe, want!"

Mo Xiangyun merely looked at her with a meaningful smile. With that, she turned around and once again moved forward to the future that she had decided – an ending that only she herself knew.
