Chapter 23
"Did someone say something to you?" Qin Jinnan asked, his gaze steady on me.
The strange smile still lingered on his face, refusing to fade.
His hand remained wrapped around mine as he continued, "You seem to have some serious misconceptions about me."
His tone was too deliberate—almost staged.
In that instant, the thousands of instructions the system had drilled into me before I arrived here flashed through my mind like a warning.
I said nothing. I only gave a small shake of my head.
Qin Jinnan looked like a man trying to declare his innocence.
"I don't make a habit of hurting people," he said calmly.
"It's just that the employee was out of line. So I fired her."
But I remembered—
When I first arrived in this world, I had done nothing more than glance at him too long.
And for that, I'd been dragged by his bodyguard and thrown into a corner like trash.
I didn't say a word. I just lowered my gaze, silent.
Qin Jinnan stood up.
Without another word, he took off his black coat and draped it over my shoulders.
"Come with me," he said.
