Chapter 25
By the time we finally stepped out of the hospital,
I noticed two doctors quietly trailing behind us.
Qin Jinnan held my hand firmly.
Sensing my confusion, he offered a calm explanation,
"I arranged for two physicians to look after you at home."
—Home?
I turned to look at him, uncertain if I had misheard.
But Qin Jinnan's expression remained composed, almost casual.
"Come home with me," he said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
His hand slid gently along my back.
"Let me take care of you."
My throat felt dry.
I swallowed hard and stared at him in silence.
I couldn't figure him out.
Couldn't tell what exactly he was trying to do.
Everything was happening too fast—
So fast I hadn't even been given the chance to react.
