Chapter 10
Whether it's hopeful or not,
I still have to raidQin Jinnan.
That's the purpose behind the system resurrecting me,
and the only way I can continue to live.
But before I can even think about raiding Qin Jinnan,
I need to first solve my most immediate problem: survival.
I managed to find a way to get a job at the bookstore downstairs from Qin Jinnan's company.
I became a librarian, working the night shift until midnight.
The lights of the building across the street still shone brightly,
and I sat on the steps outside the bookstore, opening a cold boxed lunch.
At 12:07 a.m., Qin Jinnan's black Bentley passed in front of me.
The blacked-out windows blocked my view,
but I knew he was inside.
The white text in front of me buzzed with discussion.
It seemed that the system could see more than I could—
it could see straight through the car window.
And, of course, they took the opportunity to cynically mock me.
[The system's going all-in, and this sister seems to be doing the same...]
[Other Raiders are trying everything to get in front of the villain, whether it's to make an impression or find a breakthrough.]
[She's not doing well. She's even found a job and is living her own life.]
[Was she scared by the villain's bodyguard when they first met?]
[Let's just watch her organize bookshelves every day.]
[Such a waste. In the first place, she shouldn't have agreed to the system's mission...]
I lowered my eyes, choosing to ignore the emotionally charged words.
Instead, I noticed a stray dog wagging its tail, eyeing me.
I tossed it the only two pieces of meat left in my lunchbox.
Together, we shared this cold, lonely meal under the night sky.
