"My speciality is reconnaissance, please take care of me!" The new recruit exclaimed while bowing 90°
Oh yeah, if you don't know who he is, I don't know either. We just recruited someone that would likely die first in a horror movie.
Oh? What about the recruiting part? That seems troublesome to write so I'm going to off screen that. Lazy writing? Of course not! I'm just efficient.
"My speciality is close quarter combat and strategy," my mob friend stated, also revealing her most powerful weapons.
"My speciality is adaptation in the environment," I said, saying some random nonsense.
The 2 of them nodded and we began our strategy meeting.
The room suddenly got dark, and a table magically spawns Infront of us. There's also a lamp right on top of it.
Hey this is scary, what the heck?
"Our teacher gave us a brief overview on the group project," she explained as if our surroundings were like this from the start. "I have read it in advance and saw 3 things that we need to watch out for," she then added, sliding the folder to the center for us to read.
Of course the new recruit was the first one to look at it.
Secret to success 101, let the dominator of the conversation have their time to shine so that the people their having conversations with appear like thin air.
"What are those things?" I asked, purposely giving her a subject that she will focus on.
"First thing we need to look out for is the other classes's participation towards this event. We need to rank higher than them in order to not get deductive points from the teacher," she explained her part before fixing her glasses.
"Wait," our new recruit murmured. "There are a total of 10 classes, excluding us, there should be around 450 people we need to watch out for. Isn't that too much? Wouldn't there be someone that would inevitably rank higher than us?"
That's rather a good point. How would it be possible for us to get a better grade than 450 students? There's bound to be someone who's much better than our group in the different section.
"You need not to worry," she replied, giving that ooze of confidence. "Even if 1 or 2 groups surpasses our grades, the deduction would be minimal. But if that number exceeds 5, we would be in a lot of trouble," she finished before sighing.
"So, we only need to surpass at least 5 groups from a different classroom to get a passing grade?" I asked, to which she nodded. "That's still not easy," the new recruit mumbled.
"Now, let's move on to the next part, the content of the group project," she stopped, as if thinking meticulously. "Honestly, I still can't comprehend why such setting is chosen, but this is the gist of it. We will have a battle royale that will last for 3 days."
We both(?) looked at her in shock(not).
"But isn't the main core of this event is monster extermination? Why would they want it to be a battle royale?" He then asked, confusion evident on his face.
"This is just my theory, but I think they want to simulate an event where there are villains and monsters at the same time. Killing other groups also gives out points so that solidifies my line of thought," she finished.
Wow, she got it first try.
Yeah, to sum it all up, the contents of that group project is like this. Monster extermination on the forefront, but it's more on the group Vs group aspect.
"Now, let's decide on the final point," she adjusts her glasses. "Should we ambush groups or exterminate monsters? Personally, I'm more inclined to go for a group Vs group battle," she explained, giving us a clear choice.
But not once did I expect this situation to come up...
"HOLD IT!!!" The new recruit shouted. "We should opt for monster extermination first. Since defeating a group could potentially weaken us and it will be an painstaking task," he explained his reasoning, having a point.
"OBJECTION!" My mob friend retaliated. "Why did you immediately assume that we will engage in such fights? The strategy I was about to propose is to knock out a group that just finished a monster extermination work. This way we would be able to defeat them easily."
That's a great strategy, not going to lie.
But still, are we really going to do this?
The new recruit slides a folder towards the center of the table.
*Slams the table with his hands menacingly.*
"Here in this folder resides how much point you would get from monster extermination in contrast to group Vs group fights. Here we can see that monster extermination has triple the amount of points it has compared to your strategy," he finishes.
Wait a moment, I think this mob has a different role. Maybe the gossip mob?
Anyways, my mob friend brought out a coffee for some reason, drank it, and slammed it towards the table.
"You failed to realise the difference in difficulty between your method and my method. Monsters that we will fight is around -3 stars to 3 stars level of foundation. If we combine our strengths, we might make it, but that would weaken us to the point that other teams would wipe us out!!"
"Why are you assuming that we will fight off boss monsters in this event? My main strategy will only require us to deal damage to weak monsters until we accumulate enough points to earn the top 20 spot!"
"That's impossible to do, not only low level monsters gives out abyssal points, but they're too spread out of the map. We couldn't possibly kill enough of them until the time runs out!"
"Then we could simply spilt up and-" I cut him off before he was about to say anything else.
"Order, order on the court," I exclaimed, magically bringing a hammer with me. "Since both sides are taking way too much word count and are unable to present any decisive points, we will have this court adjourned until further evidence can be laid down.
Honestly, I don't want to do either of your methods," I finished, earning myself an odd look from those 2.
"So you think you have a better solution?" The new recruit sarcastically said. Damn, they're fierce. My mob friend just quietly stared at me though.
"Yeah," I said. Honestly, it isn't better. But it's more useful since I want to keep tract with the protagonist.
Especially Reinhardt.
"Hey, new recruit, you specializes on recon right?" I asked for confirmation, and he nodded appropriately.
"What's your range?" I asked again, bringing my hand to my chin to look cool.
"1 kilometers if I'm going all out, and I can last 2 hours doing this. My most efficient one is 300 meters and I can do it for a whole day," he stated.
Both me and my mob friend looked at new recruit with shocked eyes(real).
Wait, are you a named character by chance? No, I don't know him.
This is weird, very weird.
Maybe an event character? Someone who only appears on events and never again? No, I remember every single event that happened in this academy but I don't remember this guy.
That leaves me with one answer left.
He's a scrapped character.
You know, those characters that the Devs wanted to create but it didn't make it to their standards, so they just reused the design to some other mobs to not waste their original work.
Yeah, I think it's this guy.
Will he be important to the plot? No. But will he be as strong as the main cast? Maybe. But since he never interacted with them, I think I could rest easy.
"Good, can you practice the 300 meters recon?" I asked, to which he nodded in response.
Ahh, thank goodness we have someone like him.
Now all that's left is to prepare for the event.
