Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Luo Lin’s Third Alias

Evah's first alias is naturally "Evah Zoroast," a vengeful figure persecuted by Amon, saved by the Chaos Sovereign, and willing to sell his soul to revive his family and exact revenge. This persona is currently focused on gaining presence in front of Leonard and the Zoroast family.

His second alias is "Jack Jones," a transmigrator and naive college student from the Zoroast family. Pure-hearted but knowledgeable, he's Klein's teacher and on good terms with Azik.

Evah's third alias, conceived while writing Transmigration Diary, is "Lucifer Zoroast," named after a certain infamous fallen angel from his past life. This persona is the protagonist of the diary's events, the first transmigrator of the Zoroast family, Jack Jones' teacher, and a high-Sequence Beyonder.

"Evah's messes get pinned on the Chaos Sovereign, and Jack's messes go to Lucifer. This way, everyone has a bright future," Evah thought, then chuckled as a new idea struck him. "Now that I think about it, the Zoroast family is pretty stacked with talent. Isn't that a kind of revival?"

"The Amon family only has Amon, after all!" Evah joked to himself, mentally refining the distinctions and traits of his three aliases.

He couldn't afford to slip up and blow his cover—that'd be social suicide.

July 13, Friday.

Upon arriving at Blackthorn Security Company, Klein met Captain Dunn, who informed him that the Antigonus family notebook had been safely escorted to Backlund by the Nighthawks. Thanks to his contributions in the operation, Klein was set to become a full-fledged Nighthawk.

Just yesterday, Klein had joined the hunt for an Antigonus family descendant, recovering the notebook. He shone in the battle, counter-killing a Secret Order Beyonder and earning significant merit.

Klein was, of course, pleased with the outcome. Though his first kill left a slight psychological shadow, the target was a villain, and Klein's resilience allowed him to bounce back quickly.

But… Klein thought of something and, before Dunn could leave, said, "Captain, I have something important to discuss with you."

Dunn gave Klein a curious look, unsure what it was about, but nodded.

They went to Dunn's office, where Klein brought up the important matter—recruiting Jack as an informant.

Klein had been mulling this over for a while but hadn't raised it earlier due to his junior status among the Nighthawks.

Now, with his promotion to full Nighthawk imminent, he seized the moment to secure a legitimate informant status for Jack. He was confident, having researched the informant process thoroughly and feeling 80-90% certain of success.

And he was right. When Klein explained he'd found a rogue Beyonder—a Seer, confirmed to be law-abiding and willing to cooperate with the Nighthawks—Dunn approved the request. He only asked for detailed intelligence, instructed Klein to keep it confidential, and designated Klein as the informant's sole contact.

Having successfully legitimized Jack's status, Klein breathed a genuine sigh of relief. He then started his day's work and studies, earning a half-day off in the afternoon. The Nighthawks were humane—after yesterday's major mission, Klein deserved a break.

Klein wasn't about to turn down a free half-day. Already planning to meet Evah and others, he left Blackthorn Security Company and took a trackless carriage to Tingen University.

"Hey, Klein, good afternoon! You got a day off already?" In the history department's office, Evah, sorting through lesson plans, spotted Klein entering and greeted him warmly.

"Good afternoon, Teacher Jack," Klein replied with a smile, then turned to Azik, who was also in the office. "Good afternoon, Mr. Azik."

"Good afternoon, Klein," Azik responded gently. His gaze lingered, and he frowned, sizing Klein up.

"Is something wrong, Mr. Azik?" Klein asked, a mix of confusion and nerves.

Before knowing Azik was an Beyonder, Klein might've wondered if his outfit was off. But now, aware of Azik's status, his mind raced with possibilities.

Azik didn't answer immediately. He glanced at the others in the office, then said, "It's not convenient to talk here. Mind taking a walk by the Tingen River with me?" After a pause, he glanced at Luo Lin and added, "Jack, you come too."

"Sure!" Evah, playing the "sweet naive" role, nodded without hesitation.

Klein, though puzzled, had come to talk with Azik anyway, so he nodded as well.

The trio left the office and walked to the Tingen River. No one spoke until they reached a secluded spot, where Azik stopped and turned to Klein. "I've noticed something off about your fate—there's a dissonance. Have you experienced a lot of coincidences lately?"

Unlike the original story, where their conversation had layers of buildup, Evah's meddling had forced both sides to lay their cards on the table, making Azik's opening far more direct.

Coincidences? Oh, there were plenty—starting with The Fool, The Fool, and more The Fool… Klein snarked inwardly but sensed Azik wasn't referring to that. He reviewed his recent experiences and fell silent.

It was tough to pinpoint—his recent life had been so eventful that even recalling it was a massive task.

Still, Klein soon zeroed in on two key points. "There are two things that felt particularly coincidental…"

He was referring to two events tied to the Antigonus family notebook. The Nighthawks' success in recovering it was inseparable from a string of coincidences.

I thought it was the gray fog instinctively drawing in the Antigonus notebook as a Seer pathway item. Could that not be it?

Or is Mr. Azik picking up on the gray fog itself?

Klein's mind buzzed with questions, but he kept his face neutral. "What did you notice, Mr. Azik?"
