Chapter 16 - chapter 16

Havoc: "Ah, you're here."

Havoc: "Welcome back, Ken."

Ken: "Yeah."

Ken walked over to Guru Ven, whose body had turned to stone. Havoc's soldiers stepped aside to make way. Ken tapped the stone body and glanced at the Veyron members now arriving at the scene.

Tuk tuk tuk

Ken: "I thought he'd just faint… turns out 'losing consciousness' means turning to stone."

Roy: "Ken!? What happened here?! You... you're a traitor!"

Cris: "Ken, this... this can't be real, right?"

The entire team now stood before Ken. Havoc's men cleared space around them, forming a wide circle.

Ken: "Traitor? What are you talking about? Come on, I never said I was your ally, did I?"

Glen: "Ken, why would you do this?"

Ken: "Why? Ugh, you guys really are too soft."

Roy: "You...!"

Glen: "Roy, no!"

Roy lunged at Ken in anger, but Ken swiftly countered and turned him into stone. He dragged Roy's petrified body over and stepped on his head.

Ken: "Look at this. You'd rather get mad than accept the truth."

Noa: "Ken... you really..."

Lyn suddenly attacked with a lightning blast. Ken dodged easily.

Ken: "Whoa, calm down."

Lyn kept going and tried to punch him, but Ken caught her fist, spinning her like a dancer.

Ken: "Easy, princess. I'm probably stronger than you."

He threw her aside and instantly turned her into stone.

Glen: "Ken… is Havoc your father?"

Ken: "No. He's my boss."

Noa: "Boss? Why would you—"

Ken: "Enough talking."

Ken then turned Glen and Noa into stone without warning.

Ken: "Take them to the Arclhos high-security cells."

Havoc's troops immediately followed his command.

Havoc: "Give me the staff, Ken."

Ken: "Mind if I borrow it? I want to bring them back for a moment. I've got a message to deliver."

Havoc paused, then nodded.

Ken restored the Veyron members. They looked drained and weakened. Only Guru Ven stood ready.

---

Roy: "Oww…"

Guru Ven: "Roy? Where are we? Why are you in front of me?"

Roy: "Ken… he turned you into stone."

Guru Ven: "What?! That boy—"

Glen: "It's true, sir. Ken… he's Havoc's spy."

Cris: "I still can't believe it. How could we fall for it?"

Noa: "We need to get out of here."

Roy: "Easy!"

Roy tried summoning fire—but nothing came out.

Roy: "What the...?!"

Guru Ven: "I believe... this prison is made of Vomelock."

Roy: "What's that?"

Glen: "A bluish-green metal. It can be shaped into anything. But for Arclhos… it's a nightmare. Our powers won't work within five meters of it."

Roy: "So we're completely stuck..."

Noa: "No kidding! What else would you call this?"

Cris panicked, gripping the bars and yelling.

Cris: "HEY! WHOEVER'S OUT THERE—LET US OUT! KEN, YOU TRAITOR!"

Ken suddenly appeared in front of them.

Ken: "Alright, alright. Enough yelling."

Guru Ven: "Ken… why would you—"

Glen: "No need to ask, sir. He's been fooling us from the start."

Ken: "That's right, old man. I was actually the first to reach the sealed spear. But I couldn't open it. Only a Fire Arclhos could. So Havoc sent me… to lure you in."

Glen: "So all your words… lies?"

Ken: "What do you think?"

Ken: "You guys were so easy to manipulate. Even your mentor fell for it."

Glen: "So when you said you were waiting for your father, that was fake?"

Ken: "Of course. Humans have empathy—and some smart people use that to their advantage. Like me."

Roy grabbed the bars, his eyes blazing.

Roy: "That's not smart—it's evil! You don't deserve to be the Air Arclhos!"

Cris: "Yeah! A traitor and a monster like you should never have that power!"

Ken rolled his eyes.

Ken: "Whatever. I'm just here to deliver a message and a package—not argue with losers."

Guru Ven: "A message?"

Noa: "We're not buying it, whatever it is."

Ken: "Relax. It's not for you—it's for the old man."

Guru Ven: "Me?"

Noa: "And don't call me 'buddy!'"

Ken: "Who else here's older than him?"

Lyn: "Ken! That's disrespectful!"

Glen: "Yeah! You have no right to talk to him like that!"

Glen: "Let me ask—was this all part of your plan?"

Ken: "Nope. Havoc's. I only played about 20% of the part."

Ken tapped his forehead.

Ken: "Why am I even telling you this…?"

Roy: "Because you're dumb."

Ken gave Roy a deadpan stare.

Ken: "Anyway. Here's a message from Professor Caelus Thorne."

Guru Ven: "Caelus Thorne? You know him?"

Ken: "Of course."

Guru Ven: "How did you—"

Ken: "Can we just get to the point? Spare me the small talk."

Lyn: "Ken, show some manners!"

Ken: "Why should I?"

They glared at each other. Ken rolled his eyes again.

Ken: "Fine, here's the letter."

Ken: "To Vendra Haiga. How are you? Still mourning your precious son, Zekanzy Haiga? Well, I've got good news—the body you found wasn't his. It was a trick."

Guru Ven dropped to his knees. Glen and Noa rushed to hold him.

Ken: "Your son is alive. And yes, he's suffering. I wanted to tell you in person, but I don't have time. Oh, how I'd love to see your face now. Hahaha…"

Ken: "Man, even his evil laugh is in the letter."

Bang!

Lyn slammed the bars.

Lyn: "TELL ME—WHERE'S ZY!?"

Ken covered his ears.

Ken: "How should I know?"

Noa: "You're lying!"

Ken: "Nope. And honestly… who cares?"

He tossed a small box toward them.

Ken: "That's from Professor Caelus. Goodbye."

Roy: "Ken! Come back! Let us out!"

Cris: "Once I get out, I'm gonna slice you to bits!"

Ken paused, turned around, and smirked.

Ken: "You? Slice someone? You can't even get through a haunted house."

Ken: "Hahaha!"

He walked away, still smiling.

Cris: "Wait! What?! Ken! Come back here! I'm serious! I'LL REALLY SLICE YOU!!!"
