Chapter 4 - Card Entry (Part 1)

"Is this door like the gift package that's a freebie for newbies?"

Without waiting for the Tabletop Program to respond, Luo Bai asked with a smile.

[Now that you've seen it. You can go and have a look first.]

"Oh?"

A hint of suspicion in mind, Luo Bai slowly opened the wooden door.

He planned to take a peek inside before deciding whether to go in or not.

"Hmph!"

As he lightly opened the wooden door, a black hole appeared from behind it. The strong gravitational pull directly sucked Luo Bai into the door.

"Swoosh!"

With a loud splash, Luo Bai found himself treading on top of some sort of water.

"F*cking hell..."

Luo Bai was shocked by the scene in front of him.

He was certain he was stepping on a body of water, but he doesn't sink. The water didn't splash on his shoes, and he felt as comfortable as stepping on solid jelly.

Everything around him seemed to be dyed in the darkness of the night.

The only lighting around was the full moon high in the sky, casting a layer of white light on the water.

With the reflection of the moonlight rippling with each of his steps, Luo Bai moved forward. The stars and the bright moon are reflected on the water, shining with silver light in the darkness. A gentle breeze brushes across the water's surface, stirring up ripples like the undulating flow of thoughts.

"What the heck is this..."

Just as he gazed absentmindedly at the moon...

"Meow~~"

A familiar meow came from behind him.

Luo Bai was shocked. He turned around and seeing an orange cat sitting on the water, he immediately beamed with joy.

"Teacher Tony!"

However, Luo Bai's sudden shout seemed to have frightened Teacher Tony, as he turned around and ran away.

"Don't run!"

Of course, Luo Bai shouted and chased after him.

After chasing for a while, a card shop suddenly appeared in front of him.

Store name: Sanbai Board and Card Games

Luo Bai felt a burst of joy and surprise in his heart, and couldn't help but quicken his pace, as if he wanted to get closer to that familiar and warm existence as soon as possible. He followed the big fat cat into the store door, and a familiar scent hit his face.

Thereupon, a sense of security fills his heart.

"Ahaha, the store is here too!"

Luo Bai smiled. Since he was a child, he had grown up in this card shop. This is his home, filled with all his "stories" and memories.

He's definitely quite satisfied with this newbie package!

"Program, where is this?"

[This is Lands Unknown – Alterlife Shop.]

(T/N: The raw name of the first part is "未界域/Mikaiiki". Mikaiiki Archetype had been translated in english as "Danger!", also known as "Lands Unknown". I suppose this could also be translated as Danger Realm.)

[The place in which you have absolute control in.]

"Lands Unknown?"

"Why does this place look more like the Dark World, hahaha..."

Looking at the boundless night outside the store, Luo Bai cracked a joke.

[Did you remember it? The Lands Unknown was indeed invaded by the Dark World.]

"Seems like you're getting addicted to chatting huh."

Luo Bai thought the system was just chatting with him, not bothering to discuss the matter in depth. From what he sees, Lands Unknown's Danger! and Dark World were just archetypes from Yu-Gi-Oh.

He hurriedly sat down in front of the store manager's computer.

As his fingers flew quickly on the keyboard, he asked.

"Can this connect to the network of this other world?"

[Affirmative.]

[I have 10 minutes left before applies. Do you have any questions?]

"Eh? Wait, wait, wait... I still have so many questions! Program, you don't last too long!"

Luo Bai quickly opened a new program named on the computer desktop.

There, he could see three interfaces displayed in total.

On the far left is his personal properties panel:

[AUTHORITY LEVEL: BASIC]

[STORE MANAGER TALENT: GUARDIAN]

[BA POINTS: 400]

[AFFINITY: 3.2]

[STORE TIME REMAINING: 3 HOURS]

——————————————————–

[MONTHLY REVENUE: 0]

[LOCATION: BIANTANA – BIANYUELONG FORTRESS]

[REMAINING ASSETS: 10.88 CARATS NEGATIVE CRYSTALS]

[BOUND SOUL CARD: EXCHANGE OF THE SPIRIT]

"There are so many incomprehensible things here..."

Luo Bai glanced through them, murmuring softly, a hint of worry clouding his brow.

The only disadvantage of getting isekai'd in your own body is that they don't have the memory of the indigenous people, so they have to slowly explore the new world.

"Program, what is Ba?"

He discovered that many things on this planet called Biantana had a connection to the word "Ba".

[Have you even forgotten Ba? This should be common sense rooted in the soul of Biantana people.]

[Or perhaps...]

The system pauses.

[You are quite the interesting soul.]

Speaking a few words like he's some sort of riddler, the system explained to Luo Bai what Ba was.

In layman's terms, it's a new energy source.

Ba can be converted into any energy through technology.Ba can be stored in the human body, and a is evaluated based on the stored points (ranging from Novice to Samvarta), and the is evaluated based on the inflow and outflow rate (ranging from 1 to 10).Controlling , in other words, monster spirits, requires Ba.Ba's solidified form, , is the global hard currency. One carat of Negative Crystal can be exchanged for a minimum of 1 million . It's also a necessary energy material for manufacturing and is also the energy supply for Ba Technology.Only the "Sacred Tree" or its branches and "its buds" can produce Ba.

...….

It talked for almost 10 minutes!

There seems to be no end to be said about this Ba.

To put it simply, for every mage (Card Masters) in Bintana, they've got MP under the name Ba.

"Stop, stop, stop!", Luo Bai interrupted.

"Simply put, RANK is equivalent to the mage's ATK and MGC. BA is equivalent to the amount of their Mana. Affinity is equivalent to their Skill Cooldown and Mana Recovery Rate, right?"

[Store Manager's language unable to parse.]

[The Tabletop Program will go to sleep in 30 seconds. Do you have anything else to ask?]

As soon as those words came out, Luo Bai fell silent.

He really had too many questions to ask. He came here alone in a place he wasn't familiar with. The card store would be closed in 3 hours.

How to make cards, how to increase his points, what to do when he returns to the real world... He had many questions in his mind.

Finding himself in a new world with new recognizable terms flowing through his mind, Luo Bai thought a lot.

There are many questions that need answers urgently but... after thinking for a moment, he slowly opened his mouth, his voice hoarse and low, as if he was saying goodbye to a thousand-year-old friend.

"Program, will we meet again?"

An unclear question wasted the last 30 seconds of the system.

[If it's possible]

[I hope never to see you again.]

The mechanical system sound echoed in the midnight waters, exceptionally ethereal, dissipating and stirring up ripples.

Just like that, the only friend he found in this world is gone too.

"Teacher Tony!"

Luo Bai picked up the orange cat, cradled him in his arms and wildly stroked his fur.

"You're the only one I can talk to now, big fat cat."

All joking aside, he switched to the second interface of the program.

What catches his eye is a card organizer, and there's a conspicuous button next to it.

"Ooohhhh———"

Luo Bai may not understand all that Ba stuff very well.

But if it's talking about Yu-Gi-Oh and playing cards, then he won't be sleepy.

"Why is the card organizer empty though...."

After Luo Bai reloaded the program and clicked around a few times, he found that there really were no cards in his deck or in his library, when a sudden prompt popped before him.

[PLEASE SCAN THE MAGIC CARD]

"The store has just opened, so there are no magic cards huh."

Thinking for a moment, he remembered the explanation of the system.

"Is this thing looking for playing cards?"

Whether it was just for the heck of it or because he simply didn't want to give up, he actually took out his deck from the desk drawer and put a card into the scanning frame.

"Might as well try it, I guess?"

[DING, BLASPHEMY CARD DETECTED]

[SCAN SUCCESSFUL———— ]

Prompt boxes pop up one after another on the computer desktop.

"D*mn, that's really cool!"

Luo Bai couldn't help but exclaim, and at the same time, a bold idea arose in his heart.

"Could it be..."

"In this new world of dueling..."

"That isn't banned...?"

"Holographic projections, materializations..."

"My waifu!"

Luo Bai shouted, rushed up to the 2nd floor, and looked for his deck.
