- After school ended -
"Mum, I am home!" little Izuku screamed from the front door of their new house.
The small family of two didn't buy a villa or something the size of one, even though they could have with the money they had.
But considering that a big house would take too much time to clean and was also completely unnecessary at the moment, they decided to buy a normal family-sized one.
It has 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a Kitchen, and one dining/living room.
The only requirements they had were that Inko wanted a big kitchen and Izuku wanted a big bathroom.
When Inko heard Izuku's voice at the door, she instantly walked out of the kitchen to the front door to greet her son, who had just come home from his first day at school. She was nervous and excited about Izuku's first day in his new school.
"Izu! You are finally home?! How was your first day at school?" Inko asked with a smile on her lips while looking at her small boy who was currently still standing at the door.
"Wait! Now that I think about it, let's wait until the food is ready, and we can talk while we eat. The food will be ready in ten minutes, so go wash your hands and come to the dining room, " she added with a little afterthought.
"Okay, mum. Before you go back, could you give me your phone for a moment? I want to add my new friend so we can write," Izuku said with a shy smile. It was the first time he had someone to write to, and he was still a bit nervous about it.
"Of course! Here it is!" Inko quickly said, pushing her phone into Izuku's hand with a beaming smile on her face.
'Wow! Izuku has a friend! Maybe I should buy him his own phone for his next birthday?' Inko thought to herself, relieved.
Truth be told, she was a bit scared about Izuku not finding any friends on his first day at school. She knew Izuku was a bit introverted and shy, so hearing him say that he had found one relieved her immensely.
Before he came home from his first day, she even considered not asking him about how school was, but seeing him standing at the door with a smile, she just had to.
She was nervous, considering that asking could make him sad, but not asking could also seem like she didn't care!! Maybe she just thought too much about it.
'Thankfully, I made the right bet.' Inko thought to herself while turning around to walk back into the kitchen.
She could already see Izuku tipping away at her phone, seemingly adding some number from a small piece of paper he held in his hand.
Ten minutes later, Izuku walked into the dining/living room, where his mother had already placed the food on the table. He quickly gave her her phone back and sat down to start eating.
After seeing her boy eating with relish, she finally started the most current topic, considering it was his first day in a new school.
"And how was school today?" Inko asks her son with a small smile on her lips. She really loves seeing her son eating her food with such eagerness.
Izuku looked up at her and, with a still full mouth of food, started to talk without caring about anything.
"Well, school was okay..." Izuku started before being interrupted by Inko's angry look.
Seeing her look like that, he quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and talked further as if nothing had happened.
"My classmates are okay. My teacher also seems to be pretty friendly, and the class was fun, but I didn't really make any friends with my classmates. They didn't say anything bad or something like that, and some of them even tried to talk to me, but I was a bit too shy, and as I stuttered too much, most of them lost interest. I also didn't start any conversation with any of them and held my answer short, so it's probably my own fault." Izuku said a bit sadly and self-reflectively. He himself knew he was a bit broken, but what could he do? It's just how he is.
"When someone actually stood up and wanted to ask me about myself more thoroughly without bothering about my stuttering, my new friend that I made before class stormed into the room to chat with me. For some reason, when my other classmates saw my new friend, they quickly left me alone and didn't dare to go near us. It seems like they don't like my new friend that much. I wonder why..." Izuku said with some sadness. Only by the time he mentioned his new friend he smiled a bit.
'He has a friend! Yeah! Better than nothing! Considering his shyness, I am sure the other classmates wouldn't befriend him that fast. But I am sure they will warm up to him after some time. But who is his new friend? Are the other kids scared of him, or why would they be so bothered after seeing him?' Inko thought with some happiness that slowly turned into worry.
She was happy that Izuku hadn't abandoned her new friend for his classmates, but who was his new friend?
"Before class?" asked Inko with a raised eyebrow, hiding her secret worry.
She wants her Izuku to have a real friend, not a second Katsuki, who is more trouble than good.
Izuku instantly told her about his encounter with his new friend Nejire, and Inko couldn't help but exhale some stuck-up air she held out of worry.
'Thank goodness. Just a little girl that talks to much… WAIT GIRL?! My Izuku has a girlfriend?! No to early for something like that! My Izu has a friend who is a girl! Wait Inko!! Let's play it cool. Calm down.'
"She seems to be a nice friend," Inko said with a smile, thankfully calming down in front of her son.
"Of course! Nejire is the best. We talked during our school break! She seems to be two years older than me and two classes over my own. Nejire said she wants to be a hero in the future! In addition, she seems to live in the same street as us in a house with her mother. If you run there, you could even make it in two minutes. Her family seems to be in a similar situation to ours, and her father left after she found Nejire to be too stressful since her Quirk seems to give her endless energy, and her father couldn't cope with that. Wait! Don't tell that to anyone! She only said that to me because she talked too much and drifted off topic! Please don't tell anyone. She seems to be really sad when talking about it." Izuku said while panicking at the end.
"Don't worry, Izu, I won't tell anyone," Inko said with a forced smile.
These cases of quirk discrimination are actually not rare in their current society.
There are many children who get dumped away the moment their Quirk is something the parents aren't comfortable with.
Most of the ones who are thrown away have so-called Villain quirks, but kids like Nejire, who are just a bit more work for the parents, are not rare either.
There are many different bizarre and stupid reasons.
Considering Izuku's old problems with his Quirk, Inko chatted with many different people online who had the same problems as her and Izuku.
There are many single fathers or single mothers who were left by their partners because the said father or mother didn't want to give their kid away.
Truthfully told, Inko was happy that she wasn't the only one who got divorced for such a reason…
She found many helpers online who helped her through her time of divorcing her husband.
In this world People are not born equal. That is a fact that almost everyone in this world knows.
That is also one of the reasons so many villains appeared over the years.
Most of the time, the villains are caused by our society's system itself.
After the heavy topic with Nejire's father was over, there was a sudden stillness in the room. Both Izuku and Inko were stuck in their thoughts, thinking about sad and happy things while eating slowly without making a sound to the other.
Only a minute later, a sudden sound appeared in the quiet room, breaking them out of their heavy mood. Both mother and son regained a smile on their faces, already knowing what kind of sound it was.
"Well, Izu, it seems like your new friend wrote something to you. Let's finish quickly so you can answer!" Inko said to her little cute son, who was now stuffing his food into his mouth.
It didn't take 5 minutes for both mother and son to finish eating. In the end, Inko couldn't help but hide her snigger from coming out.
In these five minutes, the tone of her phone never stopped, and when she looked at it, she couldn't help but smile wryly.
"Izu, it seems like your new friend is really eager to write to you. 150 Messages in 5 minutes?" Inko said with a small teasing smile, not that her son understood the subtle meaning behind her words and smile.
'Sometimes I really forget that Izuku is only 7 years old. Inko, get your mind out of the gutter!' Inko thought to herself giving her phone to her eager son.
She didn't get her phone back for the rest of the day.
Not that she cared as long as her son is happy.
'It seems like I should tell Izuku that he can invite that Nejire girl to come to their home so they can play together.'
At eight o'clock, Inko finally took away her phone from Izuku and told him to go to sleep.
With that, the first day of Izuku's new life was over.
His first day at his new school was nice.
His classmates didn't bully him, and even though nobody took his Quirk seriously, they didn't look at him with any different emotion.
He even gained his first real friend after the debacle with Katsuki.
- The next day -
Looking at the ground in front of him, Izuku couldn't help but take a second look at a red rose lying there beautifully. He often found things with his luck, almost daily, but seeing a flower as one of the things he picked up was new.
'Let's give it to Nejire later! It seems like girls like these things. My mom told me once.' Izuku thought to himself while picking up the flower.
Nejire was certainly surprised to receive a flower from Izuku, but didn't think anything about it. It certainly looked very nice, so she took it with her to her home and put it into a vase under her mother's suspicious eyes.
Since that day, Izuku has found some beautiful flowers on his way to school every day. Every single one of them has gone to Nejire, who thought his Quirk was fascinating and couldn't help but ask him about it.
Izuku really enjoyed talking with Nejire and answering all the questions he could.
As the weeks passed, Nejire's mother could only look dumbfounded at the many different flowers that now decorate her house.
