Chapter 27 - The Unseen Presence

Liam and Alexandra watched as Emily continued to chat with her invisible companion. They exchanged worried glances, unsure how to react.

"Emily, sweetie, maybe Grandma is visiting you in spirit," Alexandra suggested gently.

Emily nodded, smiling. "Yes, that's it! Grandma's spirit is here with me."

Liam and Alexandra's faces reflected concern and curiosity. They didn't want to dismiss Emily's feelings, but they were unsure what was real.

As they observed, Emily's conversation continued, and she laughed and smiled as if someone was indeed with her.

Suddenly, Emily's expression changed, and she looked up at Liam and Alexandra with a serious gaze.

"Grandma says something important," Emily said, her voice filled with conviction. "She says we're in danger."

Liam and Alexandra's instincts kicked in. What kind of danger?

Liam's eyes locked onto Emily's, his expression intense. "What kind of danger, sweetie?"

Emily's gaze didn't waver. "Grandma says someone is watching us. Someone we don't know."

Alexandra's instincts kicked in, and she glanced around the room, feeling a shiver run down her spine.

"We'll be careful, Emily," Liam promised. "We'll make sure you're safe."

But Emily's expression remained serious. "Grandma says it's not just me. We're all in danger."

Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered, and the air seemed to grow colder.

Liam and Alexandra exchanged a worried glance. What was happening?

Liam and Alexandra's faces reflected concern and alarm. "What kind of danger, Emily?" Liam asked, trying to keep his voice calm.

Emily's gaze remained serious. "Grandma didn't say, but she wants us to be careful."

Alexandra nodded, trying to reassure Emily. "We'll be careful, sweetie. We'll make sure everyone is safe."

But Liam's mind was racing. What kind of danger could they be in? And how was Emily receiving these messages from her grandmother?

As they pondered, Emily's expression changed again, and she smiled. "Grandma says everything will be okay. She loves us."

Liam and Alexandra exchanged a glance, unsure what to make of Emily's words. Were these messages from her grandmother's spirit, or was Emily's imagination running wild?

As the night wore on, Liam and Alexandra tried to process the strange occurrences. They tucked Emily into bed, trying to reassure her that everything would be okay.

As they turned to leave, Emily called out, "Wait!"

Liam and Alexandra turned back to her. "What is it, sweetie?" Alexandra asked.

Emily's voice was barely above a whisper. "Grandma says to check the attic."

Liam and Alexandra exchanged a curious glance. What could be in the attic that Emily's grandmother wanted them to see?

"I'll go check," Liam said, getting up from the bed.

As Liam made his way to the attic, he felt a sense of trepidation. What would he find?
