Audrey sighed upon hearing Lumian's response.
"Well, at least you got here before sunset...." Audrey was dressed out of her work clothes and was currently wearing casual clothing. She had a light hoodie draped over her shoulders, a loose-fitting t-shirt with a faded symbol of the Hidden Leaf, and a pair of black athletic shorts. Her hair, usually loosened up while she was at work, was now tied up, the strands catching the golden-brown hue of the late afternoon light.
Lumian smiled and responded. "Now that I'm here should we start?"
Audrey grinned, her eyes glinting with mischief. "Ok! Now before we start.... Since I'm going to be teaching you some things, wouldn't it be right to call me.... Audrey sensei???" She leaned forward slightly with an exaggerated proud posture, placing her hands on her hips as she tried to look authoritative, though the effect was more comedic than anything else.
The boy's face deadpanned and looked at Audrey with a blank expression. "I'm not going to call you Sensei...."
Audrey pouted and crossed her arms, her lower lip sticking out just enough to look cartoonishly offended. "Fine! Kill Joyer..." She dramatically turned her head to the side, feigning deep betrayal.
. . .
She paused before looking around the field, her gaze sweeping across the open space surrounded by trees that swayed in the breeze. The sky was painted in shades of orange and violet, casting long shadows over the ground. "Even though we know you probably only know Genjutsu....I want to test how bad you are at Ninjutsu and Taijutsu."
She clapped her hands together sharply, the sound echoing faintly through the clearing, and raised her right arm to form a circling motion above her head. "Now! Let's test the most important factor to every Shinobi. Stamina! I want you to run 10 laps around the field!"
Lumian looked at her for a moment without saying anything. Then, without a word, he turned right and started moving. His footsteps were steady at first, the sound of his shoes hitting the dirt rhythmically, stirring small clouds of dust behind him with every step.
A Few moments later.....
"Seriously?????" Audrey's mouth gaped open as she stared at the young boy currently laying on the ground. He took short bursts of air, chest heaving, as if he was a fish out of water. His arms were sprawled out to his sides, and his legs trembled slightly from exertion. "I knew your body wasn't ready yet for training..... But I didn't know it would be this bad. You barely even made it half-way!"
It had been over a week since Lumian had arrived in this world. Even though he got himself adjusted within these lands, consumed the Characteristic of a Primordial God, and adjusted himself to the energy of Super-powered Ninjas.... He was ashamed to say that he hadn't gotten any physical training done whatsoever. His body was still weak, his stamina almost nonexistent, and in moments like this, it was painfully obvious that having power didn't mean much if he couldn't move without collapsing.
. . .
Audrey sighed, putting a hand to her forehead and shaking her head slightly. "Alright, get up... Let's test your ability in hand-to-hand combat next."
Still laying sprawled out on the ground, Lumian groaned softly. Dirt clung to his back, and his arms felt like heavy weights. Slowly, and with great reluctance, he pushed himself off the earth. His arms trembled, and his knees shook as if his bones had forgotten how to hold him upright. "Alright... just gasp give me a moment," he muttered, holding up a hand weakly as he tried to catch his breath.
After a few minutes, the trembling dulled. Lumian exhaled slowly, steadied himself, and reached up to his forehead with two fingers. A ripple of energy pulsed through him. The world around him distorted into a shifting spectrum of vibrant, unnatural hues—colors no normal human eyes could comprehend. Audrey, standing a few feet ahead, appeared cloaked in that strange seer-sight, her form glowing like a figure seen through heat-vision goggles, every movement leaving behind a faint echo of itself.
He took a long breath, letting his spirituality and chakra settle in his body. His shoulders squared. His feet adjusted. He bent his knees, grounding his stance, and curled his hands into fists.
Audrey's expression shifted—no more grins or playful teasing. Her gaze sharpened, and with the fluidity of someone who had done this a thousand times, she raised her hands into an academy taijutsu stance, knees slightly bent, dominant foot back, arms ready. "Here I come!" she shouted.
She lunged forward with her left leg, the sudden movement kicking up a small burst of dust behind her. Her speed was impressive, but deliberately restrained. She was giving him a chance. As she closed the distance, she turned her hips and launched a roundhouse kick toward Lumian's head. It wasn't full force—but it was enough to rattle him if it connected.
*Whoosh*
Lumian saw the kick coming as it started nearing towards his head. The wind pushed forward as he felt a sense of danger approaching him. Suddenly, the world around him slowed down as Audrey's leg seemed to be coming in slow-motion. He instantly knew what this was.
. . .
Danger intuition of a Seer.
. . .
His instincts screamed, lighting up his nerves like a lightning strike. But just because his mind registered the threat didn't mean his body could respond in time. He barely managed to react. With a sharp inhale, he bent his knees and ducked low, the kick soaring just above his head, close enough to ruffle his hair with the rush of wind.
Audrey's torso was exposed for a brief second. He surged forward, acting on raw instinct, and threw a right hook toward her midsection.
Her eyes widened with mild surprise. She hadn't expected him to follow up so quickly.
Twisting on the ball of her foot, she pivoted to the side, letting his punch fly harmlessly past her. In the same motion, she lifted her leg and launched a front kick straight into his torso.
Lumian barely got his left arm up in time. The impact echoed through his bones. Pain exploded across his forearm like he'd just been smacked with a metal pipe. His body reeled, and both of them staggered back, the brief clash leaving tension hanging in the air.
Lumian panted heavily, sweat beginning to bead on his forehead. Across from him, Audrey relaxed, lowering her arms and stepping out of her fighting stance.
. . .
"Wow! You at least have some fighting experience!" she said with a nod of acknowledgment. "However... it looks to me like you saw my attack coming but couldn't dodge in time."
He couldn't deny Audrey's words. In his old world, he had taken Taekwondo as a kid. The stances, the strikes, the footwork. However, he had quit midway through high school, choosing a different path. Ever since then, he hadn't gotten into a single fight.
. . .
Audrey pointed at Lumian, her voice energetic. "Alright, you know what's up next. Ninjuts—!"
Lumian immediately raised his hand in a stopping gesture, his expression calm but firm. "Wait. I already tested myself. My chakra's still heavily imbalanced to perform that right now."
He had secretly tested himself the night before, unable to resist the temptation. After all, who wouldn't want to experiment with their new powers after arriving in a world like this? Let's just say... it didn't go too well. His chakra control was erratic—but he had discovered one useful thing: his chakra reserves were fairly high. Lumian had estimated, roughly, that they were around mid Jonin level…
Audrey frowned slightly, her arms folding across her chest. She sighed. "Alright then... straight to Genjutsu it is."
She lifted her hand smoothly and pressed her fingers into a familiar hand seal. "The basic type of Genjutsu that every ninja knows is Transformation Jutsu." With a puff of smoke, her body disappeared behind a swirling gray cloud. When the smoke cleared—
Another Amon stood before him. His face. His height. His build. Even the casual way he stood: hands in pockets, weight slightly shifted to one side, was mirrored flawlessly.
The other Amon, grinned and pointed at Lumian. "Transformation Jutsu is basically an appearance and sound-based illusion to imitate your target's physical features." The voice sounded exactly like his own. "Based on the target's unique traits, we visualize them clearly in our mind and use chakra to wrap that image around our own body."
Another puff of smoke swirled upward, and Audrey returned to normal, brushing a lock of hair over her shoulder. "Now you try! Turn into me."
. . .
Lumian stood still, nodding slowly. He took in her face: her deep brown eyes, the slight tilt of her nose, the natural way her bangs parted to one side, the way her casual clothes hugged her frame. He inhaled, then exhaled, clearing his thoughts. Forming the hand seal, he focused on the image in his mind, channeling his chakra through his body.
A cloud of smoke exploded outward from his form.
When it cleared, another Audrey stood on the field. The illusion was... flawless. Long brown hair. Perfect skin tone. The same hoodie and black shorts. Even the way her expression was accurate.
Audrey blinked, then clapped with a wide smile of delight. "Wow, first try! You're pretty good!"
Lumian released the technique and returned to his normal appearance in a swirl of smoke. A grin tugged at the corner of his mouth. "What's up next?"
. . .
Without saying a word, she raised her hands and formed a quick sequence of hand signs. Another cloud of smoke puffed into existence beside her. When it dispersed, a second Audrey stood calmly, matching her posture and stance exactly.
"This one's a bit harder. Clone Jutsu," she said, gesturing to her duplicate. "This jutsu separates a portion of our chakra. Based on the transformation illusion, we push our chakra outward, forming a projection that takes on our likeness."
She paused and glanced at him with a raised brow. "You might not get the appearance perfect the first time… but you should at least be able to form a clone of yourself!" Then she dispelled her own clone in a quiet ripple of smoke.
. . .
Lumian watched closely, nodding. He repeated the same hand seals, this time focusing on the sensation of pushing his chakra outward, fragmenting it into multiple points beyond his body. He didn't entirely know what he was doing, but he focused hard on the image of himself, burned clearly into his chakra network.
A sudden, sharp chorus of pops and swirling clouds erupted around him.
Audrey narrowed her eyes, sensing the sudden chakra release, and instinctively stepped back as a gust rolled across the field.
Then she froze. Her eyes widened. Her mouth slowly gaped open.
. . .
Standing on the field 50 different Amon's stood staring at Audrey with a creepy smile.
. . .
"Huh? What?" Audrey said, her voice barely above a whisper.
She looked from one Amon to another, then back again. Audrey opened her mouth and closed her mouth. Then after a period of silence, she started to get creeped out by the many eyes that seemed to be staring into her soul.
A cartoonish sweat mark appeared on her head as she nervously laughed. "Ah hah hah! ummm... Good job!!! Can you ummm.... release the jutsu now?"
The Amon who stood at the very front smirked and formed a hand seal to release the clones. A chorus of noise followed as on the field only Audrey and him remained.
"So....." Lumian smiled and glanced at Audrey with a teasing gaze. "How did I do?"
Audrey pouted and crossed her hands across her chest as she looked away.
"Decent I guess..... I can do better you know!"
Lumian laughed at Audrey's frustrated figure. "Alright what up next?"
. . .
A few hours went by as Audrey taught him what she knew, taking short breaks between each interval.
Hazed Illusion. A series of illusory clones that don't vanish when struck.
Lost Way. A genjutsu that causes the target to lose all sense of direction.
False Surrounding. A jutsu that distorts the target's perception of their environment.
Inverted World. A technique that makes the target see the world in a mirror-reversed state.
Each Genjutsu was executed with flawless precision. Crafted perfectly, without a single misstep.
Audrey stomped her foot on the ground and pointed at the boy in front of her, her eyes wide with frustration.
"Damn it! What kind of monster are you?!"
Amon stood calmly, hands tucked into his pockets, a slow smile spreading across his face.
. . .
"The blasphemous kind."
