Chapter 99 - The Price of Power

Location: Ruins of Myrrha — The Edge of All Things

POV: Caelis Thorne | Seris Valen | Ashren Vale

The battle was not won in fire.

Nor in steel.

Nor in shadow.

It was won in cost.

Because the thing they faced—the god that had no name—was not bound by rules. It did not die. It erased. It unmade meaning, unraveling time, twisting flesh and memory into silence.

To destroy it, they had to do the one thing it could never comprehend:

Sacrifice.

---

Caelis — The Tether Breaks

Caelis fought like a storm wearing skin. Every strike he landed did not just tear shadow—it tore through the lies that held the world together. His blade, bonded with the ancient beast, flared with each swing. But the price of that bond clawed deeper.

Each heartbeat made the beast stronger.

And him… less.

He staggered after a clash, coughing up ice and blood. His reflection in the shattered air showed golden eyes—not his own.

> "You have to hold," Seris shouted.

> "I can't," Caelis whispered. "Not for long."

And still—he stepped forward.

---

Seris — The Final Flame

Her fire was no longer flame—it was memory, emotion, grief and rage and love all burning in one devastating stream. But even the strongest blaze needs something to burn.

And Seris… was nearly gone.

She reached within and felt it—the last ember. The core of her soul, her flame-forged destiny. To use it would mean erasure. Not death. Oblivion.

> "I wanted more," she murmured. "I wanted time…"

Ashren turned to her.

> "No," he said. "I'll pay it. You hold."

---

Ashren — The Final Bargain

He opened the wound the crown had hidden.

Inside him was a door, and behind it—the throneless void. The last remnant of the First God's prison. To enter it would mean he'd never return.

Not as himself.

Not as king.

He turned to the others.

> "I end it. But when I do, I need you to seal me inside."

> "Ashren—" Caelis began.

> "Don't argue. You die, the leash breaks. You burn, the memory is lost. I'm already gone."

He smiled then—small, tired, human.

> "Let me be the lock."

---

The Final Act

Caelis threw his blade with the last of his strength—embedding it in the creature's core. Seris burned the name of the god into flame, binding its essence.

And Ashren stepped into it.

Took it into himself.

And vanished.

Epilogue Fragment — One More Chapter to Come

The world shook. Then it stilled.

Myrrha crumbled. The sky stitched itself back together.

Caelis collapsed in Seris's arms.

No gods spoke. No stars fell.

Just silence. And peace.

For now.
