Chapter 12 - Chain Mission

Louis got up when he saw the sun bathing the darkened streets of the city.

"I need to level up, more than I need to make money. According to what Uncle Dan told me, I currently have a fortune that's hard to find, so I don't need to focus on making money; I just need to focus on missions and increasing my power."

In this world, 100 million Jens is an incredible amount that everyone would like to have, but very few can.

For example, the highest-paid employees of the Empire earn between 1,500 and 2,500 Jens per month. For executives, that may rise to more than 10,000, but very few people can earn 100,000 Jens per month.

While there are industries valued at tens of millions of Jens that are important within the country, of course, the largest companies still cost a few billion Jens, perhaps tens of billions.

Considering that he currently has more than 100 billion Jens in his system and has only been here for a few days, that is nothing compared to his fortune.

For example, Dan R-Lockward runs four companies within the family, one of which is valued at a billion Jens, while the others are valued at a little over 350 million. All are important within the family.

Within an S-Rank family!

In fact, R-Lockward's companies are valued at around 80 billion Jens in total, possibly even reaching 100 billion, which is a substantial amount of money in this empire.

That's why Louis was sure that he didn't need to focus on making money right now, but rather on taking advantage of his Class to gain power. At least while he settled into this world and found a balance between his strength and making money.

That's why his mind was set on leveling up...

His eyes sparkled with interest. "Four missions in one? And it say they've all been enhanced..." He couldn't help but smile with joy.

If all missions were like this, he could keep his 10 upgraded missions for quite some time, but since he got one of those, he had to rejoice.

And now he needed to level up.

So he wasted no time and left his house after putting on clothes typical of this world.

Pants, a tight-fitting white shirt, a high-quality leather jacket over it, a top hat, a pocket watch, and little else. Clothing somewhat typical of the Victorian Era of the Earth. His revolver rested in its holster under his jacket.

Dan had provided all of this so that he could blend in with the locals and avoid attracting attention. That's because the clothes he wore were used for training in God's Land.

As he walked through the city, he did not head toward the Upper District, but instead began walking through this area known as the Industrial District.

The factories here operated around the clock, so the noise became increasingly noticeable as he approached the busy streets lined with factories on both sides.

The streets were somewhat crowded with people, and the hustle and bustle hit him in the bright morning light, but somehow everyone's faces looked darkened.

'This area really doesn't inspire confidence, no matter when you look at it.' He sighed and pushed his way into the crowd to walk through the streets.

Before moving up a level, he needed an ID card. But since he couldn't and didn't want to use his real last name, he couldn't go to a legal registration center, because in those places you have to give your real last name, and there's no way to lie because they have scanners for the Systems.

That's why he needed an illegal registration center. He would obtain an illegal ID card, which would also allow him to access information and visit places where missions would be readily available.

He had heard his uncle mention a few illegal registration centers the night before, so he planned to visit one of them, especially the one with the most influence in this area: The House of Shadows.

'I heard that it's an organization that smuggles minerals and medicinal drugs, as well as gambling. So they must have some experience in illegal activities.'

The problem was finding the headquarters, but he had a way to do it.

As he walked, he wondered if the gambling they were involved in was horse racing or something like that. Somehow, seeing the horses in this world, he felt that watching horse races here would be exciting.

But it was just a fleeting thought that crossed his mind.

While he was lost in his thoughts and redirecting himself, he suddenly stumbled over something and frowned.

Then he looked down at the ground.

There, a young lady dressed in ragged clothes was looking up at him with a slight frown. She was eating a piece of bread with some butter on it—her breakfast.

When Louis saw her, he became interested in her because, despite being dirty all over, her gaze was as clear as water.

'What beautiful eyes,' he thought.

She seemed to be thinking the same thing.

'Blue eyes and silver hair... What a spectacular man. Is he a foreigner?' Louis's beauty dazzled her for a moment until she realized her mistake.

She quickly stepped aside. "I'm sorry, sir," she said.

Louis said nothing more; his interest was momentary, so he continued on his way.

However, the girl then seemed to notice something.

'He's walking aimlessly... True, a foreigner? Is he a new person?' she thought. Her eyes sparkled, as if she had found a great treasure. She immediately got up and grabbed him by the sleeve, without dropping her bread.

"Sir, I can take you wherever you want to go, for only 5... no, 2 Jens!"
