Chapter 11 - Rising Stats

Dan stood in a daze, staring at the six money cards in his hands.

Since his arrival in this empire, he had realized how difficult it was for people of low status to acquire wealth. In this empire, where a billion Jens was an incredibly large amount of money and a considerable sum for an S-Rank Clan like R Lockward, 300 million Jens was a sum that many would covet.

'Just the businesses I'm handling for the Family cost 2 billion... And I have that amount in my hands.'

Dan couldn't believe it. He looked up at Louis and then looked down at the money cards again.

That small process repeated itself several times.

"Yo—Young Master... What does this mean?"

"I'll just help you take control of the family. You have a mission to fulfill, don't you? Maybe after you do it right and improve it in every way, you'll have the chance to go back to God's Land."

"But..."

"It's okay, Uncle Dan." Louis interrupted him. "I'll just need information about this city and the empire, since they kicked me out of the Clan and sent me here without explaining anything. You can keep the money I gave you. But you need to tell me everything you know about this place, including the value of the Jens."

Although Dan had difficulty understanding what was happening, after a moment's processing, he nodded.

"So, you're not going to leave?" he asked, reaching for the ticket, but Louis refused it.

"I don't run away from problems, because problems will make me stronger."

"If that is the case, then I will not press you further. Young Master..." He cleared his throat and then began to speak.

"We are in Velharthe, the Southern Capital City, and our family controls this entire region. We used to control the entire Empire, but the Asoist Church and some local families have formed an alliance, and little by little, we have lost the support of the people. This is also because the two who control most of the current family have been making strange decisions, and also affecting the social advancement of the population."

"Does the Empire live under a democratic monarchy?" Louis asked, noticing that Dan placed great importance on the words "support of the population."

Dan nodded.

"Something like that, but not quite. The King still has a lot of power, but he no longer exercises it through his status as King, but through his status as the leader of one of the most powerful families in the Empire."

"Oh." Louis was immediately interested. "Tell me more about that Church. I also want to know how this city is run and administered."

So, Dan R-Lockward began to provide him with all the information he could. He handed him maps and written scrolls.

During that time, he focused on answering Louis's questions, explaining the hunting grounds, nearby dungeons, and how to access them.

-

1 hour later.

"Young Master, I can help you get into the Royal Academy. It's the most prestigious academy of magic and general affairs in the empire, but... There will be a small problem with your weapon." Dan looked at the firearm in Louis's hands and frowned.

"They don't accept Armamentalists there?" Louis asked curiously.

"No, no, it's not like that, Young Master. Although there is some discrimination against Armamentalists due to the presence of the Royal Society of Mages, there is nothing to worry about in that regard. It's just that it's difficult to find an Armamentalist in these lands."

"I only know one, he's a good friend, and I can arrange for you to take classes with him, as he can teach you about being an Armamentalist. However, unfortunately, he's been discriminated against and has only been given a class with no students at the moment, which limits his ability to cover many topics. The education... will be poor."

Louis understood, but he didn't care. "That's fine, if he can help me understand the Destined Path, then that's enough. I can learn the rest on my own."

Dan looked up, surprised. But he smiled.

"Well, if that's the case, then count me in to help you get in. If you don't mind being discriminated against by the Mages, then I'm sure you'll do wonderfully there."

"Haha, okay, Uncle Dan. I'll be counting on you then."

Dan stood up and quickly said goodbye when he saw that the sun was already beginning to rise on the horizon.

After that, he left.

Louis stared at a window on the System. A mission to enter the Royal Academy would give him 200 Coins.

'That'll be another 20 stat points,' he thought. 'Although I have enough now. I think it's time to start moving,' he thought, and looked at his stats.

He still had 101 points left over from last time. Since he had been avoiding low-level missions, he hadn't earned any more points, but that was for the best. He didn't want to waste any improvement attempts, and he only had four left, since the one for the Royal Academy had also been improved.

Seeing his low stats, he quickly started to raise them.

The first thing he did was add 30 points to Strength. Then, he added 20 points to Vitality, 20 points to Agility, and 20 points to Intelligence, spending 90 points at once.

'11... Should I add to Perception?' he thought as he looked at his remaining points.

He didn't know precisely what that stat did, although he had an idea. But raising it, being the only one in the 100 range, wasn't very smart.

In the end, he decided to raise Strength. Since his acquired skill was a Physical skill, he would need strength above all else.

Thus, 11 points were added to Strength.

And his overall stats were now better balanced than before.

He nodded to himself. '500 HP... So, I get about 20 health points for every point in Vitality. Good, I like round numbers.'

The average mana was about 3.4 mana points for every point in Intelligence, which was easy to calculate, although it didn't significantly impact the outcome.

Uploading his statistics was refreshing for him and his mind. Somehow, it took away all his fatigue and seemed to clarify many things in his mind. For example, he was able to understand each memory inherited from the former owner of this body more deeply, and they were no longer just empty information; he could understand the feelings the owner had at each moment.
