"Listen, all you have to do is tell us where your Master is and we'll handle the rest." The Vice Enforcement Head spoke calmly, but one could tell that he was already annoyed by Xue Ren's unresponsiveness. "We promise not to harm your Master—"
"Master this, Master that," Xue Ren interrupted, arms crossed. "Like I told the big guy several times before, I don't have a Master. Neither do I have an accomplice. I was the one who murdered all the Bloodring Assassins, and I'll continue doing so until they're all dead."
A tiny crack formed on the lens of the Vice Enforcement Head's glasses. "Still trying to protect your Master?? I must admit that this is a noble quality to have, and your Master is fortunate to have you as a Disciple, but for both your sakes, you need to disclose his location—"
"Okay," said Xue Ren as he slid over a piece of paper and pen that was sitting on the table. "Here, this is my 'Master's' location."
The Vice Enforcement Head revealed a satisfied smile. "Finally, you've come back to reason." He picked up and started reading the slip of paper after Xue Ren finished writing on it. "Now then, let's see what's…."
His face slowly darkened as his grip on the paper tightened, making it crumble.
"Are you… Are you playing me for a fool!?" He shoved the paper slip in front of Xue Ren's face.
On it were the bold words, 'Right in front of you.'
"Do you think this is all one big joke or something!?" The Vice Enforcement Head was now just as—if not more—angered than the previous Officer. "Some people just refuse to accept kind gestures! What ignorance! But if you think we're done with just this, then you're sorely mistaken!"
"You say you're the one who slaughtered all those Bloodring Assassins??" The Vice Enforcement Head grabbed Xue Ren off his chair and brought them out of the isolated metal room. "Okay then; for now, let's overlook the fact that murder—regardless of the circumstances—is still a crime within Star Bearer City. Alright, since you claimed all this and that, then let's see if you can actually live up to your claims!"
"Hoho? Is the Vice Head going to teach that aloof brat a lesson??"
"I think so!"
"Let's follow behind them and see how this plays out. My money is on the brat being made a fool, only to later reveal what the Vice Head wanted him to!"
"I'll take you up on that bet!"
The Officers in the precinct left the large Enforcement Building, trailing behind their Vice Head and the stoic brat. Most of them were looking to see a good show, whereas the female Officer population followed for the sake of stopping things before they got out of hand.
"He's so handsome; it would be a shame if something happened to his face…"
"I agree, Sister Yu."
"Maybe if we're lucky, one of us can acquire his favor by saving him. Then when he's old enough, we can… Hehe~"
The male Officers were making extremely disgusted faces right now as they mumbled curses about their colleagues.
'Aren't you supposed to be upholding the Law!? Where is your sense of dignity at!? Just because he's a little… A lot good-looking…!?'
Damn, the world was so unfair.
After some time of walking, the Vice Enforcement Head stopped in the middle of a Physical Fitness building. It had over ten acres of open space, with a plethora of running tracks and sparring arenas meant to service the Enforcement Department.
"You talk a big game, but let's see if you can back it up." The Vice Enforcement Head tossed over a silver sword to Xue Ren. "If you can hurt me by even the slightest bit, then I'll accept what you claimed. I'll even inform the Enforcement Head of your claims myself!"
The Officers who gathered around were gasping at the Vice Head's words.
He was an Early Golden Core Realm Cultivator! Someone within the Top 25 of Star Bearer City!
To harm him even slightly, you'd have to at least be of the Half-step Golden Core Realm. And even then, your chances were slim…
"The Vice Head is aiming to cruelly teach this brat a lesson."
"But his handsome face…"
"Sisters, we have to save him if things get dangerous!"
All the female Officers nodded, some even throwing a few flirty looks Xue Ren's way.
He ignored them. He also ignored the sword that was thrown at him. And once more, he ignored the fearsome aura emanating from the Vice Enforcement Head.
"Are you still taking this lightly, kid?" The Vice Head's lips curled up in despise. "Do you take me as a weakling or something!?"
OOOM!
The full might of the peak of the Early Golden Core Realm!
Xue Ren blankly stared at the billowing yellow aura undulating around the Vice Enforcement Head. He gave no visible reaction, simply responding with, "I don't want to pay for destroyed equipment, so I won't be using that sword."
"Destroyed equipment?? What are you even talking about???"
The Vice Head was seriously confused, not sure if the young man was serious or not.
"Whatever." He shook his head, motioning for Xue Ren to come at him. "Give it everything you've got, kid. Watch as I don't even so much as flinch—"
An immeasurable sense of dread shot the Vice Enforcement Head awake as he dodged.
But what he wasn't initially aware of was that Xue Ren had already attacked before he could react…
SWOOOOOM—!
"This…"
It wasn't only the Vice Head that wore a shocked look, for every single one of the Officers stared with their mouths agape.
The Training Center now had a long trail of fire etched through the middle. It extended even beyond the large gaping hole in the building's western wall, creating a line of destruction that only thinned a few hundred meters out.
What sort of crazy level of power was this!?
