"Tsk, what a stubborn woman. Of course, it's all due to her motherly instincts." A voice in the void of Davin subconsciousness muttered to itself.
His frowning gaze was fixated up where golden ethereal chains surrounded where he stood.
"But I must say, I'm a bit envious of you boy. Not only is your mother stunningly beautiful, but also a damn protective Origin who bares the Curse of Pride." The voice added with a chuckle.
"Guess I have to change how I approach the boy, lest the system get a backlash from the curse…"
"And I hope you won't be like the rest of those useless bastards. So don't let me and your stubborn mother down, by dying… Dave Brown, or should I say Davin Bluemoon." He added as his index finger begun tracing runic symbols.
~Outside world~
A chubby lady followed by her steward as well as a couple of knights, approached a place within her compound where a golden orb had just crushed onto.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" She muttered after seeing the person who was lying unconsciously on the crater.
"Isn't that Sir Ray's son." Alaric, Eleanor's steward, said with in surprise.
"The one and only." She said with a smile.
"That kid came in with a blast, what an entrance I must say!" One of the knights commented from the side.
"Is he even alive?" Another knight spoke up.
"Yes, he is miraculously still breathing." Alaric responded his tone laced with disbelief. "Wait a minute…"
"What's on your mind Alaric?" Eleanor asked her shocked stricken steward.
"This boy flew in from the direction in which the white hand took something… more likely someone." He said as he stared at the town.
"Ray, had left this morning as usual. So he wasn't around when the hand appeared. Most, probably, he didn't see it."
"You think Ray's family and the hand are connected?" Eleanor asked him.
"Actually, no. It's more of, Ray's mysterious wife and the hand. If she is not around, then my assumption is spot on."
"Hmm, then go confirm it."
"Yes my lady. But what about the boy?"
"Don't worry about him, I'll take good care of him. I mean, isn't it fate that I got my hands on Ray's only weakness." Eleanor said with grin that made Alaric pity Ray and his son.
'Of all the places you could have crashed into, it had to be here.' He thought with a sigh since he knew how the Lady of the Manor—the newly proclaimed mayor of Lentwells, had a despicable habit as well as a huge obsession over the boy's father.
~Later on~
"Sir Bluemoon?"
Ray immediately lifted his head and his eyes met with Alaric's gaze.
The elegant steward had a calm look on his face as he looked at Ray. He had found him dozing outside while leaning on his front door.
'Was he crying?' He wounded as he saw tear marks on Ray's face. 'So it means that the hand took his wife. And upon the realization that his son was also missing, the man broke down.'
"What do you want?" Ray asked as he stood up. Clearly, he seemed displeased to see Alaric here.
"It's about your son—"
"You know where he is?"
"Yes, he crushed in Lady Eleanor's compound a while ago."
"…" Ray stayed silent as he assed Alaric's words to verify their validity.
'Gaela must have pushed Davin away to avoid him being detected by him.'
'So is the golden comet that flew across the town must've been Davin.' He thought as he recalled the romors he had heard earlier.
After he had got the memory from Gaela, Ray had looked for Davin.
He had hoped that he son wasn't taken and was hiding somewhere. But to his dismay, Davin was nowhere to be found.
He even asked around at his neighbors about Davin's whereabouts, but the response was the same… No one saw a little kid with brown hair and golden eyes wandering around.
Finally, he ended up sitting against his front door, hoping that Davin will come back, only for Alaric to come and wake him up with the most surprising news.
"You're not pulling my leg right now, are you?"
"Yes, I have no reason to lie to you, so do you mind coming with me."
"Not at all… lets get going." He replied with a smile as he dust off his clothes.
~~
"Do you have a delivery or something. Or is someone travelling?" Ray asked while pointing out at a distant carriage that just left Eleanor's manor.
"Huh?" Alaric narrowed his eyes as he looked at the carriage.
'I wasn't informed about any delivery or travel today…' He wondered.
"It might be one of Eleanor's private affairs." Alaric replied his tone carry mild confusion.
"Oh. Quite an odd time to travel. Don't you agree?" Ray asked as he eyed Alaric intently.
"Yes, but our roads have always remained safe… nothing to worry about."
"What about the beast raids that have been occurring lately? Is that not concerning?" Ray added another question as the they arrived at the manor's gate, where four knights stood guard.
"It truly is."
"Hello Sir Alaric." One of the knights respectfully greeted Alaric who replied courteously before passing through the gate.
Ray walked calmly passed them as he followed Alaric, his only goal was to get his son from a new mayor who always wanted him to work for her.
"So he is the kid's father?" One of the guards asked his companion as he watched Ray's retreating back.
"Most probably."
"But I don't get it. If his son came crushing here, where was he? And what sent his son flying this way." Another chimed in.
"Don't know, but what I know is that, this is the guy who Eleanor wants to appoint as the head knight."
"Seriously!?"
"Yeah."
"How can that be. I didn't sense any aura from him. In fact, he looks just like a completely normal guy…"
"Yeah… I personally thought he is the Lady's new toy…"
"Seeing how young he is, he might as well be turned to one."
"And by the way, where is his kid?"
"No one apart from Eleanor's inner circle of people knows…"
