Kora left, but she did not head home directly. Within a secluded part of the capital, she sat inside a private coffee lounge, and by her side was a man.
"I thought you said we could never meet again?" the man asked, and Kora just shrugged.
"I need something," she said, and the man's face instantly paled. He did not entertain her looks or her request.
"It's been months, Kora. I came to you, and you shut me down," the man hissed, but Kora leaned forward and caressed his hand, which rested on the table.
"I need you to do this for us, Steve."
Steve hissed and withdrew his hand. "If someone should hear you, they would think I am your lover. But all you have done these years is draw me closer and push me away when you deem it fit. I won't be your handyman, Kora."
Anger rushed within Kora, but she smiled and took his hand again.
"I know," she said softly. "But Steve, you know me. I want this—and you are the only one who can do this for me."
